Pretty bittersweet beginning with the tragic end to some of the funeral parlor members. Including the part where Gai mercifully ends the life of the one mortally wounded person.(I was having amusing mental images of the Monty Python "Bring out your dead" scene when I watched that part)

I think the best part of the episode wasn't the action, but the dialogue between Shu and Gai. You finally start to see some ACTUAL character development that this show has lacked.

I really like the part where Inori realizes that Shu won't follow Gai, unless Shu understands the true nature behind Gai's persona that only she sees. For most people Gai, bold and brave persona is enough for them. Some even begin to resent Shu for his not buying into it and confronting Gai on his plans. It's at this point Inori lets Sui into that "inner sanctum" of Gai's personal space so Shu can see the Gai has similar misgivings about his actions, but hides behind the "commander" persona to mask them and keep the morale of the troops high.

Still not to thrilled with Shu though. He's still all GAR one minute; then he's a timid little mouse the next. His character isn't really that dynamic at all. It's more like he's bi-polar or he suffers from MPD(multiple personality disorder).

I still got the vibe that Kido Kenji is a GHQ mole. Gai flat out telling Shu to give him the pen pretty much means that they knew Shu wasn't the snitch. Someone has to be feeding Segai information on Funeral Parlor's plans of attack.

It seemed a bit cheesy with " OMG, the satellite is going to crash into Tokyo?!?!" finale. But that sequence ended decently.

I said in the other "why the hate" thread, I said that the Characters and the Plot/Story were the two reason I wasn't enjoying the show much.

I do feel that they're finally starting to address the character issue. Shu was definitely more tolerable in this episode. I think we're past the worst part of him. I also think we're starting to see a better side of Gai. Inori still seems a bit bland. But she's developing that dark cold side to her with her gun play. I would like to see more backstory on all the characters. You still really don't know who they really are.

The plot is still all over the place. Gai is making deals with Segai now? There's something about "she" waking to find her king? And what's this about erasing Shu's memories? I mean seriously. It seems like they're trying to make the show "mysterious" by jamming in a bunch of new plot devices with no backstory behind them. It getting rather tiring trying to keep up. I mean WTF?!?

P.S. Segai seems to come off as a Rommel type persona.(Rommel being a highly skilled tactician and strategist Field Marshal of Germany during the early 20th century. He was not part of Hitler's inner circle and Rommel was well respected by both his men and especially his adversaries.)

I officially hate Shu with a passion. He is a bitch like no other in anime. I thought he would man up finally and i was let down. I truly wish Gai had Shu power. I hope with a passion Shu dies a horrible death at the end. He knew what he was getting into now he scared to kill.

Shu can save the world/universe and he still will be the number 1 bitch in anime history.

Sorry, it's not like Gai is any original character either.

I thought shu would learn from last episode, but he is unaware that he is being controlled by gai and inori again. They are the least people you can trust in this anime.

Did the guy at the end refer to shu as the "king" or was it gai. Who is that girl shu keeps having flashbacks of? Why did that guy agree to erase shu's data so easily? too many damn questions this episode.

I am really starting to hate on inori. The first couple of episodes I liked her because I thought she was starting to feel emotions. However, this episode she was too damn depressing that it makes me depressed.

I find this episode to be pretty bland.

Lol'd when Renji was talking off his jacket/shirt telling Shu to get the void.

Giving Inori dual guns with her personality wasn't really a good idea in my opinion, she's not bad ass to begin with so dual guns IMO, was a bad choice of weapon for her.

Inori, or that other girl, giving Shu that rifle gun thingy was pretty out of no where as well. I don't think the main goal was to destroy the satellite but if it was, they could have just done that from the beginning.

Also, Gai is super cripple. Can't even bend back to grab something... and hes only 17 years old.

great episode, it did seem a bit rushed for me, but it still kept its quality!! ;D
Shu getting quite closer to Gai was also great.

but recently, started to like him more as a character..
And the ending was very interesting, something about "she's" gonna wake up and seek her "beloved king"??? I THINK it might have a link to with the girl we see that looks a bit like Inori :/
Anyways, can't wait for another episode, damn, this series is just too epic!! >_

Also, I think this was different from inori's void. If this is true, why does inori have two possible voids? It did seem that inori changed personalities or rather into a different person when shu extracted the void.

From what i've seen, she actually combined her sword void with Kenji's gravity thing, it's how they've been able to stop the satellite

And from this point on I will have to take a guess about Inori's void: although it is mainly a sword,it probably works like a booster for all other voids. This would explain why the power of her void would also grow as the bond between the two becomes more powerful. I mean, she's looking for her king, isnt she?
I'm also sensing a bigger story behind Inori, probably nothing like what it was speculated after episode 5.

I cannot help but notice how the "sin' concept keeps appearing here and there, maybe it has something to do with the 'guilty" crown too, don't know how tho, but maybe it anticipates future puzzle pieces.

Loved Inori in this episode, her instincts prove she's not a "Sex slave" as some of you called her previously :)) definitely more behind it. In the end Iw as left with the impression that Shu got something figured out after the inori's other girl flashback, else he wouldn't have told Gai "you know who"

I dunno about that. It's not like Shu was holding the gravity gun during the scene, though it is questionable since Shu did not pull out the 'gun-sword-rifle' from Inori, she took it out after he decided he wants to help. She probably has more stuff she's hiding.

Though that brings out a hunch. In the opening, you can see Shu, with his red eyes, looking through a library of people, probably people with voids he taken out. Would be pretty over powered if he gets a ability to pull their void out without physically being next to them.

Shu is still a wuss but hes improving, and he actually grew some balls to dare punch Gai in the face.

When did Gai find out that pen was a transmitter? Is he all knowing or something? And im still keeping to my theory that Gai has been infected whit the lost christmas virus, and uses those blood transfers to prolong his life, tough i guess it wont save him in the end.

That pschyco guy in his mecha was back again, i think we will see him back more in the future as a rival for Ayase.

But who is that girl Shu had that flashback from?

Great episode tough, i want more. Now.

Were they referring to inori when they said that about looking for the king? I thought maybe a girl trapped in their lab which my guess would be the girl in shu's flashbacks.

No, they were.t referring to Inori it looks like they were talking about some labr elated stuff. But since Inori is the "crown" and we supposedly have a SHE looking for a king, it's 2 girls and one guy as it looks :) I'm just inclined to consider Inori part or the same as the other she, they are both looking for "king"

Holy shit where's the logic in some of these actions.

Technology to control mechas with your body, but you take collateral damage. Is there any logic to that beside to make shit "fair", but this isn't a video game, it's supposed to be warfare.

When Inori manages to headshot some dude, the other guys with guns run towards her to tackle her, as opposed to shooting on sight, what type of shitty soldiers are these? Let me rephrase that, what type of common-sense deprived retards are these?

Channeling at the core, gets ambushed by a mecha with no recoil. All the bullets missed...How....

Meh, episode was okay, not irritating just meh. The story itself has diverted itself into a somewhat original concept, not entirely geassique anymore.

About that girl that Shu seen into Inori, we don't know anything about Gai, Inori or even Shu pasts, we need flashback soon.

Who said this episode was bad?
This episode was actually quite good, but I wonder if Gai plans everything like that with Shu so he could be part of the mission.
Maybe Gai can see a little of the future.

I don't think it was Inori that was speaking before, it could be something inside Inori like a split personality that know who Shu is.
But Inori definely changed there when he took her void, she is normal emotionless.
Or she could be somewhere else and speak throught her.

I believe we will know something about this later and I'm looking forward what happend in the next episode.

About the end about she found her King, I believe it's 100% Shu is the one, he had those flashback from Inori in the first episode so maybe Shu had that power from beginning and it was his destiny to get it.

Shu is definely something special, after all he is the main character.

Note: Once again we don't have a past flashback from anything so we don't know.

I agree that inori may have some dual personality because she is having too many mood swings Like where inori helped shu get out of prison, she was first happy, then went to emotionless, then this episode she appeared happy again.

I don't think shu is the "king" since it was an accident that he got those powers. Also, didn't they say "search" rather than "found"?

Hmm, I personally think Inori cares more about Gai and notthing/very little (at least not yet) about Shu. Remember, she said Gai told her to originally act like that.
Also, when they said "search" they could just be observing/guiding whatever/whoever they were talking about, so it/he/she would still have to search for this king. (Which I believe to be Shu since he's the one that got stuck with that ability)

So far it does look like inori cares more about gai than shu. You can see inori worried about gai when inori thought he was dead until he answered through the radio.

Now, what I would like to see is shu to be dead or at least thought to be dead. I look forward to seeing how inori reacts to that situation.

The girl from Shu's flashback (whose name is Mana) appears repeatedly in this episode. I noticed that she also appeared for a split second in the OP sequence. There were a few more subtle changes made to the OP sequence, and this makes me think that this is probably an important ep that signifies a beginning to something :D

This ep really made me wonder what's the relationship between Inori and Mana. Maybe she is her alter ego xD

An excellent episode but really depressing. With what happened to Kyo in the spoiler
I can express sadness and tears. Mercy killing, Kyo's crying and the faint hope crushed of any survival rate form her wound. I think I said enough in regards to her. R.I.P. Kyo at least there is the following,

To remember you from despite being short. Damn some cheerful characters being dead like that just makes stuff gloomy and a more so. Damn! I am not happy with Kyo dying. At the very least please have more deaths of the enemies side. It would be more positive.

There goes my contribution to a character's death and showing the best of her last. More later.

Ep 5: "You look more like her every day"

So the question is who is 'she'? My guess is the person Gai was referring to when he said that to Inori is this 'Cocytus' and also the person who appeared to Shu, though we still won't know what the relation between her and Inori is. I wouldn't rule out something out there like Inori being her clone, with all of the 'Gai gave me a name, etc'.

ETA: This whole dynamic of Shu as the king and some mystery girl being drawn to him...definitely feels Darker Than Black 2, heh.

My first thoughts after seeing this episode.

Too Rushed, Too Rushed.

Too much is happening and is disrupting the flow of the Story. Too many leaps of faith and jumps in logic.

Shu taking out the satelite, was Dues Ex Machina, pure and simple.

Why the Hell, should Shu listen to anything Inori says after the events of episode 5? Yet, he does... There is no reason to do this, yet he does. I would have perfered it being Ayase trying to talk some sense into Shu first. Then Inori approaching him.

The whole Shu hearing Gai baring his soul, because Inori lets him into Gai's personal transport, smacks of yet another Manipulation on Gai and Inori's part. Even if it isn't one, it's nothing but a forced plot twist, used to explain why Shu is going to join Funeral Parlour and follow Gai.

I called it in the Episode 5 Discussion thread. Gai knew about the Pen and it being a transmitter. Knew that it was tied to the Leukocytes. Another Dues Ex Machina moment, with We'll use the pen to shoot down the falling Leukocyte satelite by triggering the Pen when another Leukocyte is lined up with the falling one and the Pen. And it look like it's going to work, until Shu saves the day.

Anyone else cringe, when seeing how Inori held her guns. Damn Hollywood Shooting aka Guns Akimbo. Or how about her warning the Soldiers that she doesn't want to kill them, so stay back. Only 3 episodes ago, she was going to kill a helpless/unconcious Yahiro. Now. She's concerned about the lives of enemies that are coming to kill her?

Major Segai still is the most interesting character in the show. I'm looking forward to seeing what he does in coming episodes.

What do you think?
Summoning Dark: "What kind of human creates his own policeman?"

Watcman: "One who fears the dark."

"And so he should," said the enity, with satisfaction.

"Indeed. But I think you misunderstand. I am not here to keep the darkness out. I'm here to keep it in." There was a clink of metal as the shadowy watchman lifted a dark lantern and opened it's little door. Orange light cut through the blackness. "Call me . . . the Guarding Dark. Imagine how strong I must be."

I have a opnion that Inori likes Shu, but she have to take care of Gai that have health problems. I'm completely with sure that Shu is that King who they talking about and I know this because of the trailer I watched before the anime release. So, everyone knows that the King will be Shu (MC always with the credits), but I have to say... I HATED THE WAY THAT SHU BECOME FRIEND OF GAI. Ending this discussion... I will say one thing for the haters: Shu is only a normal guy that's never gave a damn to the world and for peoples around him, so why hate him because of his naivety? Shu is changing into a better character and showed very mature in this episode, so I give 4/5 of Shu and between Shu and Ikari Shinji I prefer Shu. That's all I have to say. See you later everyone.

Articmonkey nailed it, with the above post, but I figured I'd do more than nod in agreement since I read this thread hoping to see someone share my views.

I lost all hope for the series rising above the Code Geass comparisons and becoming special in its own right, with this ep. Shu STILL has no reason to care about the rebellion and was, essentially, betrayed by Inori in the previous ep when she turned him down by telling him that she was only nice because Gai ordered her to be. He should've pressed the button and killed everyone, along with himself, there and then.

But what happened in this ep? Inori told him to go to Gai's room with her ID and - as if TOTALLY SCRIPTED, OR SOMETHING - Gai instantly started talking about the sorrow his heart carries underneath his uncaring exterior. Even a retard would've put two and two together after already having been told he'd been manipulated by Gai and his doll-bitch.

And Shu revealing that Inori's true form is a laser-firing gunblade, at the end... what the fuck!? He might as well just stick with Inori's void if she's that overpowered. In fact, why didn't Gai order his bitches to unleash the full-power of FFVIII's weapon of mass destruction to begin with? That would've saved many lives.

...Oh well, at least the OST is still good and everything happens at the speed of light. It might at least turn out better than Code Geass R2, if not S1.

Edit: And I'm 100% betting on Gai asking for emo-pussy's files to be deleted to be an excuse for the school setting to return. THERE CAN'T BE AN ANIME WITH HIGH SCHOOL AGED CHARACTERS WITHOUT THE HIGH SCHOOL! At least it's better than Lelouch memory's being erased and him returning to school as bait--that's something, right?
