I'm calling it as best anime of 2010.

Amen.

This episode was a freaking masterpiece! I can't believe that so less users actually saw this great Anime; what a shame!
The OP/ED switch was brilliant, definitely had me fascinated right from the start!
If it weren't for the 3 Love-Triangle Episodes involving his "Johnny" I'd give this Anime a 10.

9/10 from me.

Hmmm, its pretty interesting to see that my 4/10 is the lowest "completed" rating for the series atm (I was going to give it a 3, but the last 2 episodes were good). And there's only 3 5/10 "completed" as well...

While I haven't seen any Yuasa animes before (Kaiba is on my plan to watch list, after about another 50-100 animes), I don't think that is the problem. I'll admit I never liked the animation, but I didn't hate it either. The only real problem I can name is the almost emotionless voice of Watashi... But is that enough to make me dislike the whole series? I'm not sure...

It's definitely a strange feeling to not know why you dislike an anime that pretty much everyone else found brilliant...

Well, I have little to add. Fantastic anime, best one to come out this year and yet another great success for Yuasa.

It's annoying when ending is this good - since I have nothing to criticize and don't feel like praising it with meaningless words that don't get even remotely close to awesomeness of the experience itself...

Well, I would've loved to see more Akashi! But that isn't a criticism; only a wish. :P

Great finale. I can't give it more than a 7/10 since I honestly wasn't too entertained by the rest of the series, but watching it sure paid off in the end. Oh well, best series of spring season (which doesn't say much, but eh).

Just briliant !!!

God that was amazing i had this scored 9/10 but after this finale its a shame if you dont give it a clear 10/10.

I didnt even noticed at first that they changed the OP and ED but lol i really loved the "OP" for the first time in this series XD

Gonna rewatch this after few months. Now waiting for the specials.

The ending truly was fantastic, and while this series was very enjoyable to watch, I'd have to put it slightly behind Kaiba though ahead of Kemonozume in terms of Yuasa shows, but that may change.

I won't pretend that I was able to catch all the meticulous references to the parallel worlds of Watashi throughout the series, and this is one that I'll definitely have to rewatch to fully appreciate in my opinion.

That said, I'm giving it a solid 8/10 for now. This was my favorite show of the Spring season. I hope Shiki can fill its shoes well in the Noitamina slot.

Oh my god! I still can't find words to describe this show. Best of 2010! Ah, the scene where Watashi was running to save Ozu was incredible. I felt, once again, how much i love The Tatami Galaxy.

It is another one of those brilliant shows that just don't deliver much in the entertainment category for me. I am giving it a 8/10. I enjoyed trying to figure out what was going on with the time reversal, that tricky fortune teller, and how everything was interconnected. I just didn't anticipate it very much when it came out, but maybe it was the inability for Watash to finally change until the last episode.

"Nothing else is as boring to tell as a story of successful love." Best anime sentence of the year. Extremely well placed too.

The finale of the show was fantastic, but I'm very tired right now, so I'll need to watch it a second time to catch all the details. Only thing that I know is that it was a clearly satisfying ending with really nice developments and the usual Yuasa touch. Will comment again later, but 10/10 of course.

Lulwut?

The monotony of his narration makes sense and made it easy to watch.
His non-narration voice had plenty of emotion. My respect for his seiyuu has now multiplied loads.

But yeah, I'm interested to know what people DIDN'T like.

Ah, it is over. Well, I made myself a Castella today, so I hope I don't end up in my own galaxy of madness anytime soon. Though what I like about this series is I'm about watashi's age and I sometimes feel similarly about life (I suppose).

I almost wanted to give this a 10/10 but I couldn't. Probably going to be the best anime this year, if not the the best anime from the last 2 years.

However, I say this having stopped watching Five Leaves at ep 7 because I want HD video. Five Leaves is really close in quality, imo.

You'll see near the ending what the problem is with House of Five Leaves. There's just too much information spread in so few episodes that a coherent ending was very difficult in the first place.

Tatami Galaxy has been the best series for me these past three years.

Holy Hell!! :D This anime was awesome as all get out. Shintaro Asanuma is an killer seiyu as Watashi (I)... how did he talk so fast is BEYOND my brain cells and thought. Ozu's character was unreal... there are so many people that are like him.. they want to drag you down when you are down. LOVE Maaya Sakamoto to death as the main female lead (especially after her performance as Nino).. her voice is very cool. THE CONCEPT IS KICK ASS!!! :D 10 out of 10. This, Durararra, B H Kei, Katanagatari, Bakemonogatari, Angel Beats!, and Arakawa Under the Bridge where my highest ranked anime during the spring 2010. ---- Randy

This is the way anime shows me its love.

I experienced something that, while not being life-changing or anything like that, will make everything a little more spicy. The staff had an opportunity dangling before their eyes too, the opportunity to create something meaningful, and wow, they did.

Ozu/10. Best of 2010.

Guys, I rewatched the episode and came out with a discovery: Akashi still has four Mochiguman with her, but she doesn't seemed too miffed about it.

Yeah, absolutely loved this.

The run Watashi made towards Ozu after his realisation was very reminiscent of the final run in Mind Game to me. Great ending to a show I thoroughly enjoyed. A shame series like this are so few and far between.

After all is done, I tried to synthesize my feelings and impressions on the anime here. I'm going to miss writing about Tatami Galaxy. It's been a good three months with you guys. Your thoughts have been incisive and helpful to my understanding of the show. Now I have to move on to other anime series - the problem being will there be another one as good as this for this year? It's highly doubtful.

One can only hope.

In my opinion this series was one of the best ways for Yuasa to acquire an audience, He kept his style to a very noticeable degree and at the same time made a story that anyone, even those who've hated his previous works, can enjoy

I have to say, this last episode was kind of disappointing. 23 minutes was way too short a time to give proper closure to the story. The important/emotional scenes were all abruptly hacked and cut short, the character developments were too sudden in some and almost non-existent in others. They seriously needed more time to lenghten out and properly end this show. What a bummer.

All that aside, this was an excellent series overall. Great storytelling and use of sarcasm, wonderful comedy, excellent cast of characters, awesome plot and music - this show had everything. A solid work by Yuasa and I thank the production team for making such an enjoyable and original show in this day and age. More people should watch this show.

Easily the best show this season, I was completely awestrucked after this last episode. I absolutely love the way it doesn't even try to be melodramatic or forceful. Last episode left me with warm, relaxed feeling I had almost every second watching this show.
Also the way they showed his sexual drive was hilarious.

Not in the mood to talk about the plot and subliminal meanings. Besides, most of the people who kept their eyes open must have some grasp of them.

I'm not sure, but I wouldn't hold your breath on this title getting a Funi dvd release. I've been saying it from the start. Could imagine how big of an ordeal it would be to attempt an English dub of this title? Plus it's not the type of series which screams market me to a larger audience. However, I'd like to offer an apology to Director Yuasa for having doubts in the beginning.

The collective chaos that was woven together in this hurricane of words and moving pictures is what keeps me watching. While Yuasa failed to end Kaiba effectively, here he summed up everything very concisely. Actually with a series like this, the ending was a little too predictable. Some might call it genius, but I'm just gonna say that it was nice and tidy. I wish he would have left many of the major themes open and concentrated more on Akashi with the last episode. I was hoping that she was going to get more screen time, however she was left pretty much static. It needed a little more to be a masterpiece, but it definitely ran circles around everything else that came out this Spring.

I also have a feeling that I probably need to watch this series a couple more times. I get the feeling it will only get better each time I re-watch it. However, maybe I'll stop on episode 10.

8/10 for now. Lost a point for the summation ending, and lack of Akashi character development. Episode 2 is still my favorite episode.

Good ending to a good show.

I blazed through episodes 4-11 between yesterday. The show was a weird ride. Not one that I was too fond of while on it, but one that kind of amazed me at the end. As the episode played and I realized that the op was Watashi walking through his series of rooms, I instantly loved the feeling that the show was cementing everything together. Unfortunately, towards the middle, it was clear that they didn't have enough time to give everything its due and just dumped a lot into Watashi's monologuing. I feel like Akaishi was especially neutered. Watashi went through the trouble of really talking about what everyone meant to him, and somehow, I didn't feel the same sense of epiphany when it came to her.

Also, I loathed episode 10 as one of the most self-indulgent, mostly pointless episodes I've seen in a while. I fell asleep watching it (middle of the afternoon, wide awake), and I have no intention on rewatching it since I know I didn't miss anything.

8/10

Yeah, this isn't really a show that would lend itself well to being dubbed. I wouldn't mind just having a DVD release of the subs, though. A few companies have done that before, haven't they?

I wouldn't be surprised if a companies like Nozomi or NIS gave this title a go. I would be a little shocked if FUNimation did decide to push forward with acquiring this title for more than internet streaming.

So... now this was really good. Really really good. The whole anime was just... irritating. I never really understood what the episodes' connection is. The last two episodes made this nice anime into a masterpiece.
What i really liked was the opening.
What i really really really really liked was the ending. And with the 10th episode i liked it even more. (it nearly surpassed kaiba)

BUT: My english skills aren't that bad, (so i think) but in this speed it's just natural that i did't understand some things.

First Question: How did he end up locked in his room? Was he free before? And how did he finally get out?

Second Question: Why wasn't he able to meet his other selfs except this only time back then?

I would be really happy if someone can help me out of my misery ;)
