Since this objectivity/subjectivity discussion seems to have calmed down a little bit, I was thinking to change the topic and ask the club members this question. I'm curious to know what everybody's favorite (or if you want, best) scene in anime (or manga) is if you have one. There are definitely plenty of excellent scenes, and it might be difficult to pick just one for some people, but for those of you who feel like sharing, I encorage to post some. I also suggest using the following format, when posting a scene, in order not to spoil some people.

My favourite scene... That's a hard choice, because I really have some really memorable ones.

So I got to pick two. May I pick two? They are tied.

Rose of Versailles, anime, somewhere around the second "part"

Ai no Kusabi, second OVA

Damn, I even feel tears at this moment just of remembering these two. I really love them.

;)

I would like to edit this post and add some more scenes. The rest of you inspired me to post more.

My other favourites from anime

Rose of Versailles

Sailor Moon (Dead Moon Circus Arc)

Sailor Moon (Star Lights Arc)

And now my favourite scenes from MANGA. As I've not read a lot of manga I may have a lot of scenes that seem insignificant, but the truth is that I hold such memories very dear because feelings you have while reading are on a different scale. And I can remind them.

Sailor Moon

Fake

Gerard and Jacques

And I think that's it. I have many other memorable scenes, but if I posted them all I would never leave here and that's not the objective. My ultimate two favourites are those I quoted, but the rest are also things that I really love and that really touched me and still touch me. I suppose that it's easy to define my character just by looking at my favourite scenes. =p On any case, I hope they touched the other viewers/readers as much as they touched me. ^^

Many of my favorite scenes are rather spoiler-ridden so to say, so there are slim pickings, this one however doesn't spoil anything and always stuck with me; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YsSYc7YGgQ

Anime: The final scene of Mushishi's 20th episode
It's amazing how gentle bittersweetness can leave a longer-lasting mark than heavy action or drama. Two people burdened with responsibilities and an uncertain future, denying none of their troubles or what fate may have in store for them, yet looking forward with hope. All that, shown in a seemingly casual conversation while going out for a stroll. Kudos to the composer for that eargasmic background music, Fude no Umi.

Manga: Chapter 132 of Yokohama Kaidashi KikouThis pretty much encapsulates what I love about YKK. The author has this talent for taking facts of life and capturing its essence within a few pages.

Having finish REC (the anime series) recently, this last romance scene with Aka and Matsumeru did move me a great deal considering on how the buildup of their relationship progress from beginning to end. This scene can mostly be enjoyed if you have seen the rest of the series though:

Major
It really sets the tone for the rest of the series. Reminded me allot of the original FMA series and the way it was able to establish the world such that everything felt innocent, only to rip it away and leave you feeling foolish for trusting it.

Difficult question.
Probably the one scene that both immediately stuck and retains its beauty after successive viewing: Spice and Wolf, episode 1:

Runner-up #2: Sora no Woto (of all things...), episode 12, at around 10:00:

Oh wow, I'm sure there are a boatload of them, but the only one I can think of right now is the scene in cowboy bebop, in the episode ballad of fallen angels, specifically when the song green bird comes on and spike is falling out the window and the viewer is allowed to take a trip down his memory lane. Simply beautiful that scene.

Unless you want a run-of-the-mill action series I really wouldn't bother. It was made all too generic with the changes, the dialogue is almost painful and the male protagonist is the most annoying thing since the Crazy Frog. I only posted the clip to show that more recent series can still be rather brutal, but unfortunately the violence is the only thing it has going for it.

Well, I have to agree with Paprika's opening. It's the best opening I've ever seen! And I think it is a scene, but it's more of a side story than integral to the movie's plot. It did make Paprika (the character, and by her I don't also mean Chiba Atsuko) very appealing, though. ;p

I would like to add some scenes, just because I have to go study and don't feel like it. :3

Texhnolyze
Very last episode, last credits

Monster
Somewhere around the middle...

Neon Genesis Evangelion
Very last episode

Full Metal Alchemist
Last episode? Before last?

Wolf's Rain
Among many other scenes, the OVA

And finally, for today xD...

Fruits Basket
Hatori's episode

I notice that most of my favourite scenes are resumed to a sentence, to a frame, to something very simple. But those moments make whole series worth for me, and remembering them makes my day happier. =)

Hey. We're doing this? Ok :)
I guess i could find loads from all my favourite shows, but i'll just pick the very top.

Code Geass episode 23 of the first season.

Last ep of Haruhi (fucked up order)

Shakugan no Shana. First season. Last ep.

And while i'm on that, one too from Shakugan no Shana II. I think ep 23. Or 24.

Now that i think about it there was also that scene in ep 3 of Angel Beats. If you've seen it you should know. But that might be getting into 'not the very top'-territory. That show actually had a bunch of good scenes. Too bad it was hard to care about the plot.

Sounds like a neat discussion; I think I'll join in!

The Vision of EscaFlowne: Van's Insanity

This was probably the first scene where the audience saw Dilandau genuinely frightened, and it was awesome. Everything was just so high-energy and the representation of Van's mentality at that point was just shocking.

Psalms of Planets Eureka seveN: Eureka's Monologue

This scene really defined Eureka in terms of her character I thought; and I loved the metaphor of the book with blank pages in relation to her life. 'Lovely scene.

Wolf's Rain: Darcia's Sorrow

This is pretty much what made me love Darcia: up until this point, his character gave off a very different vibe. Something that was so calm and collected changed to this in an instant.

Xam'd: Lost Memories: Furuichi's Decision

Technically I pretty much loved any scene with Furuichi, but this was the most surprising and unexpected scene in Xam'd for me. Its what made it start to really stand out to me, and also really made me consider Furuichi's character: why would he choose to do this? And why was he so calm about it? An unexpected, tragic yet amazing scene.
