I liked it, then again I like most Romantic Comedy shows in general. The manga was a little different Kei grows a lot inn the year she is gone. Decent show overall the OVA gives a nice top off.

Good synopsis, happy ending but the relationship between the teacher and Kei seemed weird to me.

I hate the MC, his voice and his "sensei, sensei, sensei"

And the Yamada x Herikawa......lol.......Only hyosuke likes people of their age.

(1) All memories about sensei had been erased from people -> (2)

(2) Sensei's and Kei's relationship shouldn't be more an obstacle to Herikawa's love -> (3)

(3) One year had been passed until Sensei's back, and Kei and Herikawa didn't have an affair in this meantime, it seems. Instead she's seeing that teacher... WHAT?! It became fashionable now? -.-" Plus, it was like they erased everything about Herikawa and Kei relationship, about Herikawa's love. This whole situation annoyed me.

Morino's feeling and what she thinks is still a (?) for me.
Kei's sister is still a (?) for me.
Why Morino has the same strange disease of Kei? This disease shouldn't be common, or it is?

Whatever, 5/10

PS.: Sensei somewhat annoyed me, but can't be compared to the MC, that Kei annoyed me to most.

Because the mangaka thought it was a good plot device.

And Kei was bad because he's not cool and looks pathetic?

The author clearly patterned Kei after the target audience to make him relatable, and went too far. He has the disposition of a passive victim, and spends most of the show either stupidly going with the flow, or making bad, insensitive decisions. Even his psychological condition is pathetic - withdrawing into a coma to protect himself from emotional pain. Perhaps a skilled writer could write a moving story with that material, but this isn't one.

He's oversensitive about what people think of him, while being insensitive to Mizuho, going out with Herikawa as if it shouldn't hurt her. That's a powerfully unlikable combination.

And the writer continually contrives to put him in situations where Mizuho will think he's cheating on her, because that's... supposed to be funny? Putting a Kikuko Inoue Goddess Waifu character in pain is supposed to be amusing?

What I was hoping for when I picked this show up was that after getting married they'd have fun slice-of-life adventures, or the kind of drama in the britcom As Time Goes By, where the lead pair may have fights but never considers anyone else.

A great post:

If episode 9 (and parts of 10, I think) were excluded, then I would rate this show as 9/10. I found the romance cute and, well, quite romantic. Although the losing memories thing was frustrating, the happy ending redeemed it. Rather, it would have redeemed it.

But, goodness, episode 9 - it ruined the show for me. I simply cannot comprehend or forgive Kei's actions, and I cannot understand how Mizuho forgave him so easily afterwards. Kei's actions during this episode completely invalidate any sort of romance between him and Mizuho. A summary:

-Kei understood Morino's disease and knew exactly what kinds of things she had to go through
-Therefore, Kei was determined to help her out
-He concluded that the only way to help Morino out was to make Herikawa happy
-Herikawa would be happy if Kei would be Herikawa's boyfriend...
-In order to become Herikawa's boyfriend, he must leave his love for Mizuho behind

His priorities then, seem to me are as follows: Morino > Herikawa > Mizuho

It's romantic when people make sacrifices for love. It's the complete opposite of romantic when people sacrifice "love" for something else. Gah. I really wanted to enjoy this show. 6/10.

I liked Kei's use of "sensei." It's a show based on silly boyhood fantasies, so why not? And hey, if this had been a hard ecchi or hentai, it would probably have had a more devoted, considerate, likable protagonist!

Regarding the use of sensei, while hearing Kei say that all the time can be troublesome for an American, I would guess the Japanese culture makes it very difficult *not* to address a teacher, even one you are married to, as "sensei" due to respect. Where we take calling someone by their first name for granted, it is just not part of the culture to be so familiar. There is something intriguing about that distance that makes the relationship more special when you can address someone by their first name I think.

Ano Hi looks like a sequel to this, like a whole new cast and setting, but there are obvious simularities like the "this loser is you" glasses main character, alien red haired chick, the blonde loli named after a fruit, the one side chick, and the side couple that existed, not to mention the location.

Pretty meh overall. Feels like I'm watching a poorly executed visual novel adaptation packed with forced drama. Has its merits, though.

Had some interesting ideas and some decent characters, but the two groups (his friends and sensei) were always better off separated. There was less of a 'we must keep a secret' thing going than I thought, the blanks were filled in with outside drama. Decent melodrama I guess, but not sure if it was something worth sacrificing everything else for. (Thematically it makes sense, but if perhaps more episodes would make me feel as if some time wasn't wasted) As far as their relationship, most of the buildup seems to happen off-screen, and they spend more time agonizing over it than living it. Also, I love the idea of a teacher-student romance but this kid just pisses me off.

*girl runs in fear of naked man/doctor in the window at a place which supposedly offers medical services*
Konoha: WTF?! Are you cheating on me?!

If I were a woman, this show would offend me a lot more then the majority of ecchi series that out today, no matter how explicit they are. Onegai Teacher may be tame in terms of its fanservice, but every woman in it has so little brain power it's amazing they aren't drooling on themselves.

Yamada and Koishi have some clear sexual tension. I know she's underage, but they might as well give her a happy ending as well.

Kei and Mizuho got their happy ending, and I can at least give the show that. In summary, Onegai Teacher was a lot of fun until it wasn't. If the show was less on its bullshit in the last couple of episodes I'd have given it a 7 or an 8.

Kinda disappointed. I liked the first couple of epispdes, but this went downhill towards end. The finale itself was ok, anticlimatic and not really memorable, tho.

One Piece episode 914 & 915 & 1027 were a mistake and 957 brought the salvation - FMmatron

Ok show, not sure what the Japanese fascination with lame, selfish and wimpy main characters, though. Can't see one single reason why Mizuho would love this spineless freak She works for an intergalactic body that observes the earth while doubling as a teacher, what does this wet guy do? He's not good looking, charismatic or particularly good natured. It is just ridiculous. Even Herikawa, what does she see in him?

Kei manages to be selfish and clingy while still being insensitive to the feelings of almost everyone around him. Was really hoping that he would go into permanent standstill. The show would have been twice a good with a decent main character. They really need to work on their main characters in quite a few animes, this guy nearly spoils the entire programme.

Good ending! Kei playing coy lol. Finally we get another kiss :P maybe I'll watch the OVA!!

This show started off pretty good and was funny. Honestly episodes 9-11 were not good at all, which dropped my score a lot. And so onegai teacher's a 4/10 for me.

Kind of an underwhelming ending.

I watched Please Twins before this, so I knew what I was coming into. I enjoyed every episode up until episode 9. It went downhill from there. Please Twins and Please Teacher is one of those nostalgic feelings, special shows to me, with its atmosphere, characters, old art style/animation, ost, so to have episode 9, disappoints me. With episode 9, I'm surprised that Please Twins has a lower score than Please Teacher.

I really like the dub, besides the part where Kei calls Mizuho ma'am.

It seems like Koishi Yamada likes each other. The age difference though...

Well, it's not over yet, since the OVA is a sequel.

Overall, I give this series either a 6 or 7 out of 10. Episode 9 and what led up to it.....

Perfect example why MAL scores on older shows especially are full of shit. Oldheads had no idea how good they had it. Stupid good direction and art, especially in the BD. So much care and craft went into this, if you can't see that, then you either need to watch more anime or there's something wrong with what you're watching it on. The writing gets a bit goofy with the memory stuff, its not made clear what exactly everyone does and doesn't remember and it ultimately doesn't matter in the end. This show felt like a VN script that got turned into an anime in a lot of ways. I'm a bit greedy in that sense, I would have rather had Herikawa's end would have stayed unsaid like a heroine who's route you're not on, but it's made pretty clear what happens with her in the OVA. But that's just my personal preference, I can't fault anything. I really liked her and Ichigo, they were a lot more relatable and had better development. Definetely wish this would have wound up as a VN, even as an adaptation like the Angel Beats VN.

Really strange show, not really good or bad. I feel like they just cut any interesting points whenever they got to them. Cant really blame them because the series is so short, but this really feels more like a mess of ideas that were thrown at the wall. Idk feels like there were a lot of ideas that didn't really have any impact. A lot happens in this series but none of it felt important to the overall plot and story. I enjoyed Kei's arc to an extent, but maybe just because it was really the only route a show like this can go. Overall, fine series, wouldn't really recomend
