Both these series has a genuin story, characters you really learn to like and they are flying in both series. Both main characters want to protect those who are close to them, and they both have a female flying with them. There are a huge storm in both series that they have to get through.
Both series are great, and you should take your time watching them both.
They're soo similar it's scary. The overall themes match, with both deal w/ character interactions with the world around them. And in both, the setting is almost like a character in and of itself. And of course, a heavy focus on flying. Eureka Seven is more futuristic, while Last Exile is more steampunk. Both are great series and if you liked one... odds are high that you'll like the other.
Both are excellent series with a focus on flight, and involve the main character(s) joining a rogue aircraft with a brooding leader and a likeable crew. In Eureka Seven the technology is more futuristic, while in Last Exile it's a steampunk-influenced combination of old and new.
These two anime are very similar, although their overall "feel"are somewhat different.
Renton and Klaus are two similar characters both in character and in they're abilities in flying craft.
Both anime deal with flying craft with Eureka seven having a more futuristic design and Last Exile one more 18/19th century / fantastical design.
Anyway, if you like one of them, you will defintaly not be dissapointed by the other.
Though both involve flying, it's in a very different way. Last Exile is very steampunk, while Eureka Seven has a cleaner, more futuristic feel. However, they're still very similar. Alex Rowe and Holland would either be best friends or kill each other. But the crew of the Silvana and the members of Gekkostate would definitely get along. And, unfortunately, they both have very vague (but epic) endings. The only main difference is that Last Exile lacks the romantic story Eureka Seven has.
Both Last Exile and Eureka Seven share adventure and sci-fi genre.
Still, both have a plot evolving around flying ships, war and interesting characters.
Klaus (for Last Exile) and Renton (for Eureka Seven) have to protect whose dear to them and will do it through the whole story.
A note to mention is also the good cast of seiyuus and very good art which both series have. Additionally, Last Exile has a quite nice ost.
As a difference instead, Eureka has a more futuristic technology while Last Exile shows an "oldish" technology on the style of 19th centuary.
For sure if you liked one of those, you'll probably enjoy the other as well!
Both sci-fi and have a boy and girl relationship which also involes flying planes/robots
They both have a couple of children as main characters. They both have as scenario a ship with strange people, that travel around the world.

seems to have a similar setup going on from the first episode i've seen. carries a strange technology in a world revolving around that of airships.
Airspace, adventure, action and a great base story. The main characters have their own ideals intertwining in a world of conflict. The scenery is similar, while the theme is different. Both anime's are easy to watch and have a great adventure in-store.
Last Exile and Bonen no Xamdo share a similar sort of flying-ship style, as well as the broad sky travel theme in general. There are also a few scenes that bear some similarity to Last Exile's universe, such as the group of white-haired children.
This Anime is very pretty similar, to Xam'd.
similar ship,story,crew.
similar job (message deliverers).
only differents, xamd got mecha's.
flying vehicles; adeventures; great design;

Both are Military features with old fashion planes and have a girl pilot..
Both about a girl and a boy who likes to fly. Advanture genre anime with military involved. Eventhough the settings are not alike the overall feeling seems similar to me. Pleasant shows. If you like one you might like the other.
Both are about a boy and a girl who go through their adventures riding airplane. Both series are about war, and the main characters are trying to change that. The themes are almost the same also. If you liked Last Exile.....you would probably like Allison to Lillia (at least that was the case with me!)
Like the sky? Like adventure? Like action? Then, you might like both of what these two series has to offer. Allison & Lillia has inklings of romance while Last Exile makes it up with its compelling storyline. Both series are rare gems that anime fan should collect.

Lightly steampunkish futuristic series dealing with everyday protagonists getting gradually drawn into a war taking place. They definitely have the same feel to them.
Both anime have a futuristic setting and are about a war between two different sides.
Last exile has one side that hasn't even enough drinking water and the other side living in extreme luxury, making the setting kind of dark.
In Fractale one side lives leisurely completely depending on technology to work and are brainwashed to be ok with it, and the other side lives by self-supporting. The self-supporting side strongly disagrees with the system and tries to destroy it. As you can see there isn't really a proper reason for this terrorism, so the story ends up not as deep, still both animes are well made and interesting enough to watch. (But anyways, I think that Last exile > Fractale)
A steampunk mix of technologies, airships, determined youngsters getting involved with the crew of an paramilitary airship, a charismatic airship captain. Although similar, they are not "alike." Still, if you enjoy one, you are likely to enjoy the other.
Both characters stumble into an adventure which leads into a plots which include conspiracies about their current ways of living.
Both have a similar feel, if the above description proves inadequate.

One is a steampunk adventure, the other is a steampunk fairy-tale, both making emphasis on splendid surroundings and fantastic devices.
Although the storylines differ greatly, the artwork and setting are very similar. Both are set in the pre-industrial age where magic rules the world and the heroes must rely more on their own skills to get them through the struggles. Recommended if you enjoy steam punk fantasy anime.
Both Last Exile and Howl's have steam-punk elements and style with whimsical magical elements to them. Both of them have a character who is under a curse that needs to be overcome, while Howl has several characters with this, Exile has Dio and the Guild that add this element. Howl's is more magical and fairytale like, while Exile is more of an adventure series. Both have an exotic mystical feeling to them. Both have wars and air-battles as a background setting. I think that people who enjoy Howl's will like Last Exile, however please note that while Howl's is a movie, Exile is a series - so the pacing is very different.

Aerial dogfights, lots of CGI. An unexplored setting with wars against unfamiliar foes. The story and characters are quite different though.
Very similar main themes: sky, kids, war.
Both anime also have wonderful animation, art, and music.
Anyway, Sky Crawlers is neither as deep, well-developed, or exciting as Last Exile.

Both shows feature a steampunk setting and message deliverers, with a fair amount of CGI used in-show (for the airships etc in Last Exile, for the heart-eating giant insects in Tegami Bachi). Tegami Bachi has more of a focus on the message delivery, while Last Exile has as two of its main characters some teenage message deliverers who end up getting caught up in airship wars.
Both series has the steam punk theme involving the delivery of important letters as well as documents as part of series' themes.
In both series, the main male protagonist is accompanied by a female protagonist who shares a bond with them that is considered a strong friendship between the two as they embark on missions.
Both series has fantasy themes and are thus, set in a fantasy world.
Both series contains drama, fantasy, comedy, and action.

Both are produced by Gonzo and have the character design of Range Murata.
Deep, beautiful, mature, and futuristic series of the adventure, action, and sci-fi genre.
Both anime have a specific setting (air in Last Exile, water in Blue Submarine # 6).
Also, in both the main girl is a redhead.
Range Murata is the man of the project, based on his draws and concept art, the two animes follow the same aspect but a little diferent storyline, one in the future, and the other in a near future.
Other than energetic main characters, both anime seem to present a futuristic world divided between castes and the world ruled by a particular resource. For Last Exile, it's airship technology, whereas for Shangri-la, it's carbon. However, Shangri-la is set in the near future and has a strong environmentalism and corporate power issue brought up.
Similar character design [Mikuni = Dio; Kuniko = Lavie; Kunihito = Mullin; Ryouko = Delphine; etc etc...], same studio, same character designer. In both animes female villain would do anything for power and plots world domination while an idiot hero is trying to stop her.
Gentle and touching songs performed by Hitomi Kuroishi accompanying key scenes
Same english voice actor.
Very similar setting, similar main characters (a girl, who can control a mighty power and a boy, who wants to protect her), some points in the plot are also very similar. Both are masterpieces and are definitely worth watching.
the scenery is the same
if you like fantastical airships and flying planes you should check them out
Both of them are about piloting airships. They have a very similar concept....In a sense...
Both 26 episodes-long sci-fi, adventure, action anime about pilots racing on air vehicles.
Not to mention the similarities between Lavie and Eva/Molly: both young, energetic, and ambitious female pilots with short red hair.
Pilots in both adventure series are trusted with delivering an important female cargo.
Both are sci-fi's that focus more on drama than action.
Last Exile is steam-punk, Terra e is outer space.
Both have sci-fi/steampunk themes (LE is flying aircraft, GR is trains). Deal mostly with humans, with the occasional alien. GR is shounen, LE is seinen.
Both have "Freedom Fighter" casts in that they're fighting to change the world but also reject the powers that be also. Both have an enigmatic, mysterious figure who knows more than they let on, and serve to directly and indirectly teach the young heroes what to do. Both are surprisingly well written given their genres and synopses.
Pacing, enjoyment, characters, and overall shows are better than the norm.
Gundam X i s bit more lighthearted in tone, atmosphere, and destination. There's a primary romance in Gundam X, and it's one side of the story.
Last Exile is something of an experiment of animation, as it employs near 100% CG. It's still, to this day, one of the most beautiful works of animation. The story mixes things with symbolism a bit, which may or may not come off as muddled.
The ending is also, an acquired taste.

Last Exile is a fantastic show. In atmosphere it is not at all dissimilar to Steamboy with the use of Technology which follows far different rules than our own world, though the setting of Last Exile far less grounded in reality.
Technology and the military are present in both series as the protagonists shares a sibling like relationship as they endure on journeys/missions.
Love and friendship plays major roles in the story as the world is set into a fantasy like/futuristic setting. There's something mysterious behind the scenes in both series as there seems to be an imminent war brewing.

These two series honestly reminded me one and the other. Both Last Exile and Suisei no Gargantina take place in a fictional world where the new characters settle in during a period of war. In fact, both series involve a colony/country that is at conflict with another race/faction.
Both series' main main female character has an energetic personality and often helps the main male protagonist with certain tasks. The characters in both series are also considered experienced pilots.
They both have great scenery of the outdoors that is presented visually with expression and flavor.
Both series have drama, action, comedy, and science fiction themes.

The feel of Mouretsu Pirates, especially the later episodes, were quite similar to Last Exile. Though the setting is slightly different, the characters, situations and atmosphere in both anime are alike.
Though Mourestu Pirates isn't quite the same caliber as Last Exile in terms of plot and overall grandeur, if you found one entertaining you should check out the other.
mecha, main character is very skilled, and is kinda destined to change/save the world.
main char is surrounded by girls, yet no relationship, well no truly romantic ones
main character cares more about the protection of others
The main enemy in 00 is very similar in looks and with the kind of power they wield when compared to the rest of humankind as the villains of Last Exile. Basically the Innovators and the Guild share a lot in common.
Similar series, featuring airships and pirates, however Ozuma takes place in a desert environment. Last Exile is probably the superior, but both are Science Fiction futures with mysterious girls and a Harlock-esque pirate-like captain and spunky young male lead.
Both stories are driven by the prophecy of a boy/girl who holds the key to save mankind while fighting against very powerful enemies. The 3D visuals and soundtrack for both series are great, with lots of fights between space/aerial battleships.

Last Exile and Captain Harlock might not seem similar at first glance, but they actually have a solid link: Alex Rowe, one of the main characters of Last Exile, was written specifically with Captain Harlock in mind. Let us count the ways.
Longish hair? Check. Badass cape swishing? Check? Captain of a cool airship/spaceship? Check. Notorious outlaw? Check. Enigmatic and Mysterious? Check. Cool Sword? Well, it's a gun-cane, but check. Waging a one man war against tyrannical overlords/aliens things? Check. There are even more similarities but it would take forever to explain them.
Basically, Alex Rowe is an extremely well done, very deep, three dimensional steampunk version of Harlock that is very worthy of the original and fans of Harlock will find in him all the character development and characterization they might have been missing in Endless Odyssey, in Last Exile. While the actual plots of the stories aren't that similar, the Steampunk airships of Last Exile are very like the Space opera-type ships of Harlock, and both have a younger 'hero' playing first-fiddle while the Harlockian characters get to be badass, though by all accounts Claus is a much better hero than Daiba.
If you liked Endless Odyssey, check out Last Exile, you'll no doubt find it awesome. If you're a Last Exile fan and want to see the original that gave rise to Alex Rowe, you could do no better than Endless Odyssey as your window to Harlock.

Both have Sci-fi type plots
In Glass no Kantai Gonzo tried to create a world of similar ambiance and intrigue as in Last Exile. Both anime feature fantastic and unworldly backgrounds and express the fate of empires in the actions of individuals. However, Last Exile is much better at it :)
Last Exile has considerably fewer lesbians, but both Exile and Simoun take place in worlds heavily reliant on science-fictional or fantastical aircraft. Also, neither really allows their airborne characters to escape reality; you won't find many idealized happy results here.
animation and feel are pretty similiar
While being very different artistically the styles are very similar. The era they're set in is almost identical (high-tech rennasiance) Neither are optimistic but both have compelling, deep storylines and great characters.
both occur in a post-apoch world setting involving the use of past technologies in order to survive, and require the discovery of ancient secret technologies to continue their civilization's lives and hope for the future.

Despite large plot and animation differences, there is something similar in the feel of these anime. If you're looking for something just like Last Exile/Ergo Proxy, this isn't what I am talking about. But if you like one, you may want to try the other. Of course the most obvious similarity is the cute little girl running around amid a world in chaos, but, more importantly both are about journeys navigating through different forces trying to manipulate the characters. Also, there a mystery (what is Exile and how is Alvis related to it/ what are the Proxies?) that is revealed as the series goes on. Neither story takes place in our world. Ergo Proxy has older main characters so it may seem a bit more mature than Last Exile, but neither dreadfully dark but by no means light.

While I was watching "Last Exile" all I could think about was how much this was like "Nadia: the Secret of Blue Water". Both series are steampunk, both take place on a big ship that is quote "the safest" or "most advanced" ship on the planet, the crew is a mystery most of the series, both involve planes, the plot is slowly revieled (for most of the series many things are unclear), both are heavy on character development and relationships, and they both have good drama and action scenes. Both series are even paced the same (well Nadia spends more time letting us understand the characters, and get's off to a slow start, but it's able to because it's much longer. Last Exile starts you in a very fast paced battle scene, so your running from the start, while in Nadia you slowly build up speed, and take long brakes in between ;) )
Even the characters are alike. The two main characters in both series are a teenaged boy and teenaged girl. The two boys both act alike, and the two girls act a like as well. The boy is really good with planes, the girl is a navigator, and they bicker back and forth a little bit, but are still great friends. In both series the main characters get cought up in a something that's way over their heads. The main characters in both series, befriend a little girl a little way into the show, the crews of both ships are very much alike ( Captian Nemo = Alex Rowe, Electra = Sophia Forrester [they even look and sound alike!!] ,Sanson = Ethan , Grandis Granva= Tatiana Wisła , etc etc, you could really keep going).
Just replace the sky with the seas in "Last Exile" and you have "Nadia" pretty much .
If you like one of these, give the other a try.

No I'm not mad there's one thing that they have in common. I mean Alex resambles Spike not only in deadly skills but both are deeply touched by past and thus shares only one reason to live - vengeance
Similar alternate world time line involving technology and weapons including airships and open cockpit planes and despotic dictator. TBWStW also has a bit of a "steampunk" feel to it whereas Last Exile is decidedly such. Despite the fantasy aspect of "special powers" The Boy Who Saw the Wind is possibly a bit more realistic than Last Exile. Both are excellent.
Both involve the future and action scenes.. and gr8 relationship between two main characters
Both series present themselves with adventures, but each journey also becomes a way to explore the psychologies of the protagonists. Wolf's Rain's ending has quite a different feel from Last Exile's, but in the end, the morals are very alike.

One of the best CG arts in anime
