FAVOURITES: Those I've rewatched more than 3 times and/or those which left a huge impact. Bascially I like all kind of stories with good dialogues and an intriguing plot/interesting characters.
Genres
As you may have already noticed I dislike senseless gory plots. Even if they make some sense if they are too gory I can't read/watch those series. It's not because I'm female just the way I grew up I guess.
To make an example... I watched all 13 episodes of Hellsing and only had to skip some scenes. I watched it because a friend of mine recommended it, but it will never make my top 10 xD
I'm fine with most other genres, as long as they have a decent storyline, good characters, a low count of repetitivness and interesting plot twists.
Favourite anime:
HUNTERXHUNTER: rewatched
my very first action/adventure anime actually. No, that's a lie. My second action/adventure anime after DBZ. The very one that got me into the adventure/action genre. Basically it's like any other mainstream shounen series, but it has got some special charm that just won me over.
SAIUNKOKU MONOGATARI: rewatched
I was immediately curious when I read that the heroine would be the first female official. I just love stubborn and independent women.
NODAME CANTABILE: rewatched
I'm not a fan of slice-of-life, but that anime was exactly to my taste. Hilarious yet pondering the reason for individual existence + I'm a fan of classical music. It just had to go onto my list.
PANDORA HEARTS: impact
It's not exactly my favourite genre, I just think it was a very well done anime. There are so many anime out there that in my humble opinion aren't executed very well. Plus the soundtrack is by one of my favourite anime composers and I'm kind of a fan of Alice in Wonderland adaptions.
The characters aren't half-bad either, the best fact about it is that they actually have pasts that define them. And their personalities actually get analyzed. One of my favourite quotes is when Break says to Oz: "In my eyes you're all blury. Just where are you?" Oz has a tendency to go through all kind of odd and dangerous occurences with a detached air. The reason is explained later on in the anime. I just thought that this evaluation of Break's hit dead on. The animation isn't exactly the best nowadays, but it's clean and beautiful. Therefore it made by Top 5.
The anime without "impact" or "rewatched" next to the title are those I'm currently watching and reviewing briefly, not my favourites.
SPIRAL
Is amazingly good. Since nearly everyone babbled about the end of Spiral being a total mess I expected it to turn for the worse at episode 18 or something like that, but it hasn't yet. There is still something lacking, like a more complex plot. Bascially we always have the same question unanswered. But the puzzles and the games the characters play are very interesting.
THE LAW OF UEKI
It has one of the best battles in a shounen anime. You know: we are mostly used to "the most powerful power win", but in this anime strategies are as important as strength in a battle.
This anime has unexpectedly really beautiful music. Plus for a generic shounen it's not half bad either.
Like always the hero is a guy with a strong justice and care for his friends. There are super powers involved and so on and about two fights every episode.
It gets kind of confusin though, because the "rules" aren't explained that well, or maybe the english subs suck... anyway, I still don't get how a candidate can achieve 215 Zai if there are only 85 candidates left... since according to the "rules" once a candidate gets defeated the winner gets one Zai and the loser loses his powers and hence can't fight anymore... oh well, if you're totally confused like I am now just watch the first some episodes xD
Basically this series is like any other shounen series: Main guy turns out to be a genius at fighting even though he never liked to do it before. Many fights against opponents. Supernatural powers. It's right along the lane of Hunter X Hunter and Shaman King. Probably the reason I like to watch it :p
Philosopy of the anime: An optimistic outlook to the future; if people looked for things they had in common instead what differs them there would be more peace
HITMAN REBORN!
I actually started watching this anime some time ago but thought "boooring". Now I started from episode 5 on since I had stopped there previously and it gets better and funnier. Every episode has something for you to laugh about. And I heard from episode 20 on it will also get much better with action.
Definitely on my "plan to watch further" list.
In episode 17 I actually pitied poor unlucky Tsuna... so hilarious XD The last hospital room was the worst... in most cases Tsuna's antics make me want to hide my face in embarassment for some reason xD
Insider-opinion: I think Kyouya could be a better trainer than Reborn *gg*
Plus.. the bombs going boom didn't wake this freak [Kyouya] but a rose blossom falling onto the table top did...
Do you want to know the exact episode when Tsuna first voices "I want to get stronger"? It's episode 44. In case you wondered if he only get s physically stronger through Reborn's "torture" or mentally too on his own.
HIKARU NO GO
I always cry when Sai disappears in episode 60 q.q It's kind of funny, but this anime let's most characters grow on you...
Favourite manga:
PET SHOP OF HORRORS: impact
I was sooo afraid to read it for some time... the first time I noticed it's existense was when I was reading Genjuu no Seiza, another much less horror-filled work by the same mangaka. One week ago I finally managed to peek into it and I just couldn't stop reading. After the first two volumes I was completely hooked. Ow >_< Well, I'm pisces too...
SKIP BEAT: reread
I guess I could somehow relate with Kyoko in the beginning. Being naive and therefore used is not a new concept. And who doesn't ever wish to get revenge but everyday's ethics and reality is holding one back? In Skip Beat you can kind of live out this wish.
Then I started to like all the introduced characters and the heroine's overdone personality of course. Seriously, such a human being just can't exist XD The real charm, though, is that the characters seem perfect and vulnerable at once. There are many situations were you cheer and laugh for them.
THE ONE: reread
At first I disliked it: fangirl with good connections coming into the world of fashion. Yet some years after she started out I could see some character development. Since that had been about the only thing that bothered me I started to really like it.
TOKYO CRAZY PARADISE: reread
I just liked the strong girl/action/genderbender/comedy mix.
RUROUNI KENSHIN: reread
THE shounen manga that introduced me into the action/adventure genre. When I was 15 I was really addicted to it. Now I know a lot more manga than before so I kind of forgot about it, but since it's the series I've reread most and kind of holds some "first time" momento it made my top 5.
NURARIHYON NO MAGO
Not necessesarily my top 5, but it's far better than I expected. The main char is a mix of Daisuke from DN Angel and something more cunning. The arcs are pretty well executed, they never get boring (at least if you like stories about youkai). I'm currently reading the Onmyouji arc (volume 7) which too holds some promise.
Essentially it is about a 12 year old middle school student who is the grand son of the supreme commander of a youkai clan, even though he only is 1/4 youkai he is supposed to lead them too. Of course many things occur like his own people testing and opposing him, his own doubts of being worthy and forces from outside trying to get a hold of the clan's turf. And finally he has decided to lead a human and a youkai life, going to school and such. There he also forms a youkai hunter club with his childhood friends, some classmates and a young Onmyouji. The story is logical, engaging and easy to understand. The art is awesome too.
NABI
Is pretty much a tragic hit-and-run action manhwa written in a somewhat philosophic language.
One reason I find it so fascinating is the sad-hate-love feelings that you go through while reading it. Even the villain of the story is introduced as a normal guy at first and you still hope for some time that he won't go through with his threats. When he does you really start to hate him but he's still portrayed as a weird yet somewhat ordinary guy and doesn'
t regret his deeds at all.
So the main plot is: 4 orphans are running for their life. They got seperated from their comrades after the orphanage where their mentor had raised them got burnt down. The rest of the children got killed by the assasins. The main assasin who orchestrated the whole thing was the guy mentioned before.
It's still not 100% sure who they are after, but the one assasins' master told them to kill them all to make sure. Gripping and sad story in my opinion.
KOMATTA TOKI NI WA HOSHI NI KIKE
I didn't really expect much of it since it's a) shounen-ai and 2) slice-of-life and both are genres that I don't often read, especially in combination. But the first volume touched so many of my own ex- problems like loneliness, having the mindset of a loner that shuts out people, being bullied and looking for fault in yourself first, that it immediately went on my "to read further list".
There is one quote that fits so creepily well how I thought once upon a time... really creepy but somehow awesome too @.@
"It's like this! I only noticed it now... the reason why I felt sad was
because I thought that everyone couldn't stand me, didn't want to bother
about me, even to the extent of just simply hating me.
I'm just like... as a child...
But now I am not feeling sad at all.
Then... why am I crying?"
Lying on the meadow
beneath a sky of blue and green
I listen to the birds
The singing of the wind
The whispering of the leaves
And I see what was and
Also what will be.
Because life is a single stream
To me.
All crossroads
Left unwalked
All decisions
Left behind.
Now there's only me
And the vast, endless sky
Above.
I say love
Love is unsure.
I love the sun
While it can't love back
It can't disappoint
It can't judge
It can't disappear
It can't regret.
It gives me Warmth.
The Warmth of a loving mother's touch
Of a child's sweet smile
Of a life happily lived.
The dream of another past.
WHY WE SHOULD DARE TO READ VARIOUS GENRE IN MANGA
Why should we? I think variety is very important in EVERY aspect of life. If we only eat carrots our body will die because of lack from other neccessary vitamins and minerals. It's similar with the brain. For example ONLY experiencing action and violence or pink and fluffy romance, both isn't very recommended. A mix though is very nurturing.

I think that sailormoon was the first anime I saw on TV too^^
I liked it very much when I was younger,my brother wanted to watch dragonball and I wanted to watch sailormoon^_^
Oh,I'd like to visit your country and see the Alpes!
I'm from Greece^^
I started watching/reading-anime/manga a year before when I was 14 with rozen maiden being the first anime I watched at my pc because I watched anime at TV when I was younger.Which was your first anime?
Oh I'll read your kuroshitsuji review too^^
I have watched the two first episodes of d-gray man and I really liked it!I want to continue watching it!Where are you from?
I found you from your review for hanasakeru seishounen while I was searching for information for this anime!
I liked your review but I didn't like the first episode of this anime much.
Oh, thanks a lot for your comment :D
But I must warn you - I have read a lot of bad manga recently (just to amuse myself).
But I'm so happy, that there is actually someone with the same anime-taste as me XDDD
About FMA I have a special relationship *<3* because it was the first manga and anime that I found and saw from beginning to end (well... the manga I'm still reading ^^) without commercials between or anything else.
About BR I found it after I finished Rurouni Kenshin the manga because both are from the same author although it has nothing in common with RK.
Both are shounen so the have a lot of action and for me was of the ones that you-just-cant-stop-watching
The truth is it's been some time I've seen them and propably I'm forgetting certain things but I can watch them again pleasantly :)
More specifically both have good design and interesting characters, combine the most serious with the most ridiculous moments like it's nothing and if i'm not mistaken they are samewhat complete and not like other manga to anime versions e.g. Skip Beat, D-gray man, but as for FMA you HAVE TO watch also the one that's curently airing because it follows the manga plot to the end and you will say "aww.. that make sense !" XD ( for BR I'm not so sure if the anime followed the plot of the manga til the last episode...)
What else....
I think FMA is a MUST for your list. :D
as for BR... well... if you haven't seen everything(or at least most :P) how will you know what you like?
I hope I made myself a little useful and not very tiring... :P
Waiting to hear your views :D
lol MU?... Checking at least 5 times a day XD
You also have to visit (if not already know...) OneManga and MangaTraders.
I'm an addict... I know.... And I LIKE IT!! lol
(and your mother language is...)
lol
You are stalking certain authors and artists, too. Am I right? :P
You know... Finding every little piece of oneshot an author did and such *whistles carefree*
Nice to meet you! ^_^
