These animes have a somewhat similar plot... - The main character of both series discovers something that they have never seen before and the plot will start to build from that point on... - In both animes there are competitions or races where the characters will need to improve their skills to be able win for their teams or just to be able to help their friends in need... anyhow ... if you like one of these animes, then i'd bet that you'd like the other aswell! ;)

Both of these shows have male characters who start out as the rookie, but quickly acquire skills. The main character in both end up battling it out with increasingly powerful opponents and then often make friends with these opponents afterwards. Both have supporting friends who are not as powerful, but help out all they can. Air Gear definitely shares that similar shounen/action vibe.

Both series incorporate the idea of the sky/flying. This is what drew me to both shows.

Both have a Main Character who is pretty much clueless about what they get themselves into, and both Main Characters start out weak but slowly become more powerful with each new challenge they face. Each series has a large cast of lovable and not so lovable characters that are the true driving force of each story. Although both are Shounen animes, Air Gear contains more mature content(Nudity,Language,Blood etc.) then Shijou Saikyou no Deshi Kenichi does, However, this does not take away from the fact that both series always find a way to keep things intresting and exciting. I recommend both series to any fan of  read more

Since they are by the same author, they have the equal amount of good action, as well as good animation to match up with them. The not-so-good male protagonist is also included, also with many hot girls to light up the scene. Of course, the amount of fanservice is about the same, although Air Gear is toned down a lot more

Watching Sk8 reminded me a lot of Air Gear. Over-the-top moves and battles, underground skate battles, Sk8 makes me nostalgic. Even the aesthetics are somewhat similar since they have similar themes. One has fanservice with girls and the other with guys.

I'm not sure how to explain it. When I saw Basquash I intently thought of Air Gear. Something about the main characters being bold and out going. A regular sport using advanced gear and such.

Both anime revolves around a game/competition between charismatic and memorable characters. They are both funny at times but when it comes to presenting their respective field of sport they both excel to show us it with a serious and believable tone. Both series has a tons of enigmatic characters and when it comes to the showdown between these characters we remain astonished and wanting to see more and more. Both of them are manga adaptations.

Would Aokana exist if it weren't for Air Gear? One of the first things popping into my head when I came across Aokana was to wonder if Air Gear did in fact play any influence. On top of this, there is the fact there aren't many series where there is an invented sport that attempts to defy gravity quite literally so that the characters can find themselves flying, with Aokana taking a more sci-fi approach than Air Gear ever did.

The action in both Anime are packed in big time and the characters is very athletic. The fighting isn't exactly realistic, but it is nice action to watch. The characters also develop their own special powers and even girls get into the action.

it reminds me of beyblade because there is a made eup sport and there is a leage the main characters are all on a team and it just has he same elements as beyblad and both are very good

QFT what the previous recommendation writer said. Feel free to hate on the protagonist of Accel World at the beginning for his pathetic attitude & look down on Ikki (Air Gear main protagonist) for his lackluster attitude at the beginning. However, they both will grow and expect their character development from ep 1 to the final ep. Both series are strong.

IGPX and Air Gear have similar sports. Both the IGP and A-T involve ranked teams competing, battling, and maneuvering obstacles. The mechs in IGPX are really just a larger, form of a human on an A-T. Both are shounen animes with battle/racing and big emphasis on teamwork as an ambitious leader tries to take his team to the top.

They both have great OST's, art styles, characters & character designs. Kamina and Ikki both share that never give up tough guy grit they use to get through unfavourable situations. There's even similarities between Yoko & Ringo. They're both about our heroes fighting against fate and an enemy they still don't fully know or understand.

The way the characters race and compete while doing acrobatic moves gives off a familiar feel and hype. Bubble shifts more towards a light drama/romance with some nuance, with the strongest focus on the aesthetics, while Air Gears is more about comedy and with better fleshed out characters.
report Recommended by Nayelianne
The storyline is dark, and the characters are interesting. The fighting tactics aren't usual either, "Air Gear" characters using blades and such, while Gon uses his fishing pole.
report Recommended by Yemi_Hikari
Both feature customisable gear that their characters use to battle each other, both also involve various parts and teams. The main characters of each are prodigies in their respective sports/fields (Ikki & Gingka). Both also have very distinctive/unique character designs.

They main character of the animes are delinquents which with one incident change their whole life. They are also both comedy genres. The two main character are reckless and they get support from many other supporting characters.

Air Gear is probably one of the last series anyone might expect someone to recommend for Dragon Ball, yet... I've this feeling that those who like one, will like the other, even though the settings and scenarios are super different from each other. The main protagonists remind me of each other, things don't always go the way the protagonist hopes it would, plus there are awesome fight scenes in both series which are a major draw. Both series also utilize a bright color scheme along with humor elements. There's just something about these two being similar once one starts to dig deeper and really think  read more

Tribe Cool Crew had an Air Gear theme to it with cool dance style parkour while air gear is about advanced rollerblading with very extreme moves, and Tribe Cool Crew is about street dancing both involve cool music interesting story and visibility shows auras of different strong people within both animes.

The feelings that you get in air gear and desert punk are very similiar . The settings are very different yet they both have the same awesome feelings that you get from watching a good/funny anime with rivarly and awesome moves , aww its hard to compare them both but just try watching this and i know ull get the same feelings

Both series with all round great soundtracks and music, very unique sound to them which are one of the strongest aspects for both series. Both have great art styles & characters. Both have great character designs. Both have their main character aiming for the top place (#1 spot).

Both anime with unique styles and soundtracks. The sounds being one of the greatest strengths of both shows. Both have main characters with scruffy hair and formidable almost unbeatable demeanour.

Both shows have extremely cool characters with great senses of style. Both shows have good romance. Both have amazing soundtracks. Both have great emphasis on friendship and bonds. Characters in both shows tend to have rebellious natures.

These are similar in that they both have over powered characters with over-the-top battles. They both have amazing OST's with great characters and character designs. Both shows also have great senses of humour and art styles. They are both shonen battle anime whose protagonists have black spiky hair.

I say Medabots is kinda similar to the anime air Gear. in Air Gear there are parts war and ranking tournaments. Medabots has those things too however Air Gear you get rollerblade(ATs) parts and rank up buy defeating 3 members of the same rank or move on to the next rank by defeating a higher rank team. Medabots once you defeat someone you get to choose a robot part and when ever you defeat a person the main character ranks up who is able to enter a tournament.

These two series are both about competitive sports where a boy starts out a loser but gains experience and skill rapidly and is taught by the best.

A ya cast with also skater elements in it too and lots of action and nice to look at art, visuals and character designs too.

These are both ecchi series that can offer something fun outside of gratuitous fan-service, and they both are absolutely ridiculous.

I know this might sound absurd, but bear with me. Both are what I would call "non-traditional sports anime," and I mean that in the way they are crafted. Air Gear is obviously not technically a "sports," anime, as it is rather a comedic deconstruction or parody of the series. Street racing outside of school may still technically be a sport, but it lacks the school element that rests in so many school anime. Likewise with Food Wars, the intense battles on the floor plays out very similarly to a traditional sports anime, and the intense action scenes match this theory as well. While cooking  read more

Air Gear and Prince of Stride shares the similarities, in terms of sports genre but differs on what sport they are doing and it has involvement on school settings which they form a group or a club related to their prefered sport. For example, Air Gear has airtrek racing which has similarities to obstacle skate racing while Prince of Stride has parkour which had also similarities to relay racing. Each of this anime series has their own style, for example Air Gear has their own fanservice and gangster-like scenarios and Prince of Stride involves more on serious matters on professional competitions.

Both are sports anime where the main characters seek to be free through their respective sports. They are both anime that are considered to have an overabundance of fan service. Both of them revolve around a certain group of friends trying to reach the top of their fields. They are both initially considered a gag anime at the beginning, but that idea begins to quickly dissolve as the story line changes its tone to one of seriousness.
report Recommended by Allice84
Both heavily 'team' focused. Both have unique and great OSTs. Both have great humour, clean character designs and lovable characters.
report Recommended by JVskunkape
Just like the protagonist of Air Gear, Nobunaga is also larger than life. These two characters reach for the heavens even if other people call them a fool or an idiot. They keep trying to fly and reach their dreams. (Side note: It's funny how Air Gear and Nobunaga the Fool both have Regalia as well.)
report Recommended by CapoDeLeone
Itsuki is very similar to Natsu who fights for his friends and his power is more than you can imagine. Trying to aim at the top this is very similar. Including the guilds they create are similar to Fairy Tail.
report Recommended by Yokoai
I'll start by saying they're both sports anime and they both have a futuristic vibe to them. The fight scenes in both leave you wanting more each time and although Megalo Box is more dystopian while Air Gear is more comedic, both of the main characters essentially are trying to gain reputation and reach the top. If you liked Megalo or Air Gear, I'd try checking out the other show next.
report Recommended by Necrovos
There is a similar feel with the teams/gangs and a computer-type object aiding the characters. DRAMAtical Murder with the AI computers: AllMates; and Air Gear with the computerized roller blades: Air Treck (AT's.) There is also the competition/game-type themes involved in each.
report Recommended by KeiPyon
Both great shonen with extremely lovable characters and amazing OSTs. Both main characters are similar in that they are both almost blockhead-y strong men driven more so by their intense emotions rather than thinking too deeply into a situation. Both also have impeccable world building with gorgeous art styles, characters and character designs.
report Recommended by JVskunkape
The main character's are imature and perve's. Plus there's alway's one girl that seem to become head over heals for this type of character.
report Recommended by princess9
Both have different sports that are placed in a new light.

Deadman Wonderland has a lot more blood and violence while Air Gear has some of the markings of a traditional inspiring shounen series, but both series have a similar kind of action and kinetic feel to them, a similar unorganized non-tournament fight-after-fight structure, and the same 'find your own reason' motivation for the characters to keep going and base their choices on.
report Recommended by lithiumflower
Some of the characters have the same personalty also tons of fighting and fan serveces.

Air Gear and Slam Dunk are both are shounen based, funny as and are about sports, air gear has rollerblading and slam dunk has basketball. The main character both start off hopeless but as time goes on people around realise their potential in their sports.

They both have gangs but air gear is more abt skating so its not voilent and it has some nudity like tokyo tribe 2 and they hav fighting parts and stuff pretty good anime if u like tokyo tribe 2

Well, They both inclused some Skating, but netherless, Ginban Kaliedoscope is kinda like a lighter version of Air Gear

The first episode of each series has a character cursing, with a character of a smaller role telling them to watch their mouth. The series has a theme song done by the guy who does the music (Skankfunk and Nujabes). And if Air Gear was on [as], the profanity would be handled by edits that relate to the theme (Record scratch is to SC as rollerblade scratch is to AG). My suggestion: if you need something to get your mind off of Ringo and her sisters getting all mad on Ikki, watch SC afterwards.

Ikki and Touma really look alike with those spiky hair and both have a strong sense of justice. Both also fall under the action genre. The action sequences will really hook you up.

Battle shounen anime have never declined in popularity and have continued to introduce new characters to a new audience. Where there is popularity, you can find uncut gems that wasn't given an opportunity to shine. Air Gear and The God of High School are perfect examples of this because they weren't given enough episodes to finish their stories and fans had a lot of love for their manga. The main characters basically want to be the best and win against everyone, but it is these characters and their conflicts that makes you want to watch more. Air Gear and Birdie Wing combines the attitude of battle shounen anime with the framework of sports shounen anime resulting in an sports anime that leans into the over-the-top moments and the exaggerated characters. Air Gear is an incomplete anime so you will need to read the manga if you more of it. Birdie Wing is an anime original so everything that is released is the only material available. Both series will appeal to shounen lovers who are looking for a less traditional sports anime.

Both centre around a guy who breaks into a secret world and finds himself outranked by unexpected friends

These are strangely similar in overall mood, in MC charters going from carefree airheads to serious grim personalities who have gone through a lot and know way more than everyone else, and having to hide their secrets

Young male main characters fighting to be strong and get to the top. Maybe not so strong at first but you can see great power underneath. The story of their battles and struggles.

Some of the characters are a like, for example ikki and chiko act mostly childish but they both have rare moments when they act really mature. Both animes have comedy mixed in with action.

Darwin's Game is about a guy getting dragged into a death game; Air Gear is about a guy getting into the sports of Air-Trek. Both series have a lot of similarities: Creating their own clan, battling to gain/defend turfs, Sui/Sota & Agito/Akito, even their clan names have similar theme of black bird.

Yukiko has a split personality like Agito

Both series follow the sports theme although with different type of sports. The main protagonist starts out as a rookie but improves as the episodes drags on as well as his interactions with other characters through practice, learning from mistakes, and become a pro. Romantic comedy theme is also involved throughout both anime(s).

Although the two dosen't seem very similar their characters are have similar traits. Both main characters are just some cocky a-holes and they both seem to meet incredible obstacles and are able to pass them by a hair. Both also seem to be destined for greatness without their knowledge and they're just doing it for the thrill or justice of the matter. I highly recommend watching Ueki if you like the character structure of ikki

Both sports animes. Although I do not like lumping together a well made anime such as Eyeshield 21 with a poorly ended one like Air Gear, they both have their merits. Eyeshield 21 and Air Gear both share the same scheme. It starts with the main character being at the bottom and working his way up to the top of his respective sport. They both have decent animation and story to keep you hooked to the end.

Katekyo Hitman Reborn and Air Gear are both a very energetic shounen. In both of them there are cool fights and school life and great characters.

Although a bit different in story telling, both series involves a group of friends who wants to try out something new and exciting in their lives. The main character in both series are especially enthusiastic about this and is determined to make their dreams into a reality. Both series has technology somewhat advanced than our modern times. Both series includes drama and comedy.
