I've been on the subbed anime scene since Ishida fought Captain Kurotsuchi (sry for any misspellings) and inexplicably lost his powers. That summer after I returned from a 3 week home stay in Japan, I was first introduced into the true world of anime. Before that time, I was into the usual USA stuff: Sailor Moon, Tenchi, Pokemon, Digimon, and then w/e dvd's i could get from Amazon.com or the mall (That's how I got Orphen, NGE, Slayers Next).
Generally, I'm into animes with good and exciting plots, that introduce a mystery of some kind that directly influences the characters through or later in the series, and always ends with an ending that depicts the whole theme of the anime in general.
For example, the mecha in Eureka Seven responded directly to the relationship btwn its 2 co-pilots as they slowly matured through the hardships of war and love (mystery of how a machine could be influenced emotions even from its adolescent pilots). Also, the story in general was well-paced and entertaining enough to leave you wanting more at the end of most of the episodes. Finally, love prevailed at the end with (Not leaving spoilers!) Eureka and Renton and the fate of the world in their hands.
Genre I wish to be recommended: Really anything that meets those previously mentioned reqs, but if I had to say something, Romance + action + fantasy/sci-fi.
Another thing that particularly interests me is when an anime/OAV can connect to a video game. Biggest and best and my most fav example of this is that Zone of the Enders: Idolo is the exact prequel to the ZOE PS2 game that ROX!! Great OAV, awesome game, and an unbelievable story that continues to pull you in whether you're playing the game or watching the show.
Feel free to msg me for any reason.
As for personal info
I'm an 20 year old 3rd year CSE major at UCLA
Besides anime, i enjoy sports, video games, music, and chilling w/ friends
I also like cosplay w/e I go to an anime con and am now learning how to draw anime (thru myself and any helping books/sites I can find). I also co-write fanfiction with a friend of mine (Blixus is his name; only fic we have written together is " My Name is Tobi And I Like Girls " - work in progress)

Ah, I don't remember The Mummy at all! Mushi-shi had lots of cutting, like the eyeballs in the last-ish episode and the white bamboo tree that got up and crawled away.
Re: string in the sky. That's the kind of thing that I hated the most, when these people were just going about their normal lives when a mushi dressed up as a rainbow or a thread or a glowing pond decides to come along and ruin it. Blah. Anyway, have a good weekend.

Which ones were the scarabs? Well, maybe I don't want to remember. ;p
Job jealousy! Enjoy, sir.

If you're talking about Mushi-shi, then the answer is YES. It kind of just ended, but I guess that's appropriate given the way mushi behave. No respect for humans' preferences. ;p
My biggest problem was being grossed out by all the creepy mushi. Why did they all have to crawl into people and why was there so much cutting? Ugh. At least I feel stronger for having watched it.
I loved the unhurried story-telling style. It was impossible to watch too late at night for fear of falling asleep, but made it feel like a documentary of historic Japan and was great contrast with the horrifying events taking place in every episode.
</my thoughts>
Are you working on Wave?

ARCXIII,
You need a slap to the face. Please do not corupt my friend with crappy anime suggestions. Lacus and lunamaria from Seed were designed well, but that is about it. The story is a pifall for Gundam. *shakes head* And were not such noobs to not know what a cyber-newtype is. -_- modified at birth. *sighs* Underated my foot. It was rated very accuratly. Aniblast. weve talked about this recently, please ignore the previous request. -_- damn mecha noobs.
Blixus
P.S. If i have confused. a coordinater is a cyber-newtype with a new name because Gundam Seed always felt like they needed to be special. Hence i ignored their new name for it.

I read your profile description. If you're looking for a sci-fi, romance, mecha, and action anime, I really recommend Martian Successor Nadesico and Mobile Suit Gundam SEED.
The one thing about Nadesico that I found good was its ability to shift from goofy comedy to seriousness. It did this rather well. I think you'll like it because you seem to be big on mecha and the space sci-fi atmosphere.
As for Gundam SEED, very compelling story. It's a rather underrated anime, but I think it deserves more credit. It's basically a war between people that are genetically modified at birth( coordinators) vs. the people who are not (naturals). It's a war of different ideologies, and both sides trying to assert there existence. Of course, the war isn't as "black and white" as both sides seem to think. The war pits two childhood friends against each other who are the main characters of the story, which it makes it interesting. And you got your romance thrown into it as well :)
Im not sure you've been rec-ed these two before, but there pretty good. I think they'll be worth your time.
