SynopsisHaruhi Fujioka is a bright scholarship candidate with no rank or title to speak of—a rare species at Ouran High School, an elite academy for students of high pedigree. When she opens the door to Music Room #3 hoping to find a quiet place to study, Haruhi unexpectedly stumbles upon the Host Club. Led by the princely Tamaki, the club—whose other members include the "Shadow King" Kyouya, the mischievous Hitachiin twins, and the childlike Haninozuka "Honey" and his strong protector Mori—is where handsome boys with too much time on their hands entertain the girls in the academy.
In a frantic attempt to remove herself from the hosts, Haruhi ends up breaking a vase worth eight million yen and is forced into becoming the eccentric group's general errand boy to repay her enormous debt. However, thanks to her convincingly masculine appearance, her naturally genial disposition toward girls, and fascinating commoner status, she is soon promoted to full-time male host and plunged headlong into a glitzy whirlwind of elaborate cosplays, rich food, and exciting shenanigans that only the immensely wealthy Ouran Host Club can pull off.

Before watching Ouran High-School Host Club, I thought it would just be another lame shojou anime, with unnecessary fanservice, 2-Dimensional characters, and so on. I really was wrong. This is coming from a Death Note, FMA Brotherhood type anime fan. From now on i will refer to the anime as "Ouran"
Ouran is about a girl who dresses like a boy named Haruhi Fujioka, an honor student, who ends going to Ouran HS, a school for the super rich and beautiful. Being a commoner, this experience is obviously awkward. Looking for a quiet place to study, Haruhi opens the door of an abandoned music room and finds the Host Club, which is pretty much a group of really hot guys at the school with too much time on their hands, entertaining rich girls who also have way too much time on their hands. Anyways, with her encounter came the breaking of something super expensive, she owes 8 millon yen to the host club, and since she doesn't have any money, she is, evenually, forced to become a host herself to pay her debt.
As for the rest of the series, (no spoilers,) there are several mininplots, along with many episodes that show almost all of the important character's backstories. Not just main characterers, but the pasts ofimportant side characters as well. Since almost every single character is rich in this series and most reading this review aren't, I'll say that it was extremely interesting to see the struggles within families of the rich. I have a friend that told me that there's too much comedy, even in serious moments; I'm inclined to dissagree. I'll have to compare this to Black Butler, which had a huge problem when it came to humor. In very serious moments, everything was broken with a joke. Ouran knows hoe to execute himor correctly in dark times, which is an amazing feat you won't see in many anime. Besides, Ouran is a comedy.
Now for the SHOJOU STEREOTYPES...
The boys in the host club are definitely shojou stereotypes, (fanservice, perfect looks, etc.) The way it's presented, however, gives Ouran an advantage. There are several instances where the anime was MAKING FUN OF THE SHOJOU GENRE, which was hilarious. Plus, the fanservice actually CONTRIBUTES TO THE ANIME! A perfect example is the Hitachiin twins, (you'll see what i mean.)
Ouran's greatest asset. In 26 episodes, the writers managed to make the development realistic and influental on the watcher. I actually learned a few lessons with the characters from Ouran. Pretty much all the chatacters developed, with one exception in the Host Club.
There are sooo many other good things about the story and characters, but I'll leave that for you to figure out.
ANIMATION and SOUND
Fitting for the genre of the anime. Cartoony, chibi versions of the characters all the time, and in my opinion, the outside design for the highschool building is really beautiful. There was nothing AMAZINGGG though.
I watched the english dub, which was SPECTACULAR. Nothing less than what I expected from Funimation
Kiss kiss, fall in love!
All in all, OURAN IS AMAZING!
I'm going to be the odd one out here and say that OHSHC was OK. The concept is great; I love it, but how it's played out is less than stellar.
The story is about scholarship student Fujioka Haruhi, who attends a prestigious school attended by extremely rich people. While looking for a quiet place to study, Haruhi runs into the Host Club (a club where girls with too much free time can go to gawk over cute boys) and ends up breaking an expensive vase. Haruhi now must pay off her ¥8,000,000 debt by working as a manservant for the Host Club. Eventually they notice that she's actually pretty good looking and--thinking she's a guy--tell her that she can pay off her debt by working as a member of the school's Host Club. The plot after this is... well, there is none, really. Haruhi spends time in the Host Club, going on wacky adventures and all that fun stuff.
If you want to watch this because you're looking for a good romcom, know that there's a lot of "com," but not so much of the "rom." The romance sub plot which is dragged out extremely long, and very few episodes are even about that. There are only really five romance-focused episodes, and the romance really starts towards the end (don't get your hopes up, though; they don't even kiss, and their romantic relationship is basically just implied).
The plot romance subplot is kind of bland. One of the guys who has a crush on her actually seems to like her as a person, whereas the other (the main love interest), while he eventually comes to like her as a person, originally only likes her because she looks cute. One of the romance focused episodes is actually focused entirely on one of the main character's feelings for her, and then they basically never mention that he likes her again even though the episode concluded absolutely nothing regarding their relationship.
This anime has a lot of stereotypes, but one of the refreshing things about it is that it makes fun of those stereotypes. The megane is a jackass, the loli is extremely skilled in martial arts and has a fiery temper, the stoic is overprotective of his adorable cousin and barely ever leaves his side, the incestuous twins are actually just faking the twincest for s**** and giggles, and then the popular guy with the dark past isn't pretending to be pompous--he's really just that big of a narcissist. Then of course we have Haruhi, the foil, dragged along in the weirdness of the Host Club.
I really enjoyed this anime at first, but after a while it became annoyingly repetitive. Actual plot followed by filler after filler after filler.
Basically, if you're looking for a funny anime about random, silly adventures and don't mind an extremely slow romance sub plot, then you should definitely watch this anime. It's not bad, but I'm just not big on anime with extremely slow plot progress. read more
I'd never even heard of this show before someone brought it over to my house for an anime night. I hadn't watched any kind of "romance" shows before and didn't even know what a harem anime was, let alone all the types of characters you have in them, so this show was actually pretty educational. I learned a lot between belly laughs, and I laughed enough to add years to my life.
The premise is pretty simple, the lead female Haruhi gets into a debt with an all boy club, which is based on pleasing the other girls at school. Romantically, sheesh. Haruhi then has to dress as a boy in order to work off her debt, leading to countless situations where she's mistaken as a he. Simple enough, right? Not exactly...
Seeing as this is a "reverse harem" it means everything is sort of a parody, I think. It would explained why everything is jacked up to 11 when played for laughs, such as the extremes of the other boys in the club. You have your strong and silent type, your identical twins with a cheeky side, your prince charming, the intellectual, and the younger cuter one. Everything they do becomes so outlandish and extravagant that you won't be able to stop laughing. They're the kind of people who'd have a desert themed party and fly in sand from the Sahara, just for the day. Each character has a downright charming personality, and the trouble they get into is so much fun to watch. Better still, the most successful "host" for the girls is another girl. I gotta say, my favourite part of the show is how the boys try incredibly hard to keep Haruhi's secret that she really is a girl. Try getting through a physical exam at the nurse's office!
The art style feels a bit like Revolutionary Girl Utena (read: there's a strong flower motif) which I actually really enjoyed to my surprise, while the limbs looked a little spindly for my tastes, but the show really did make it work quite well. The animation is very nice, I don't remember a single scene where something was obviously out of place or rushed. I can't say the same for the music however. Music is one of the big things I try to pay attention to, you can always tell when a lot of effort gets put into it because you get this feeling of completeness. I liked the cheesy intro theme but the ending one was like rubbing alcohol on a fresh cut, but I will admit they fit in quite well to the theme. The actual soundtrack to the show was enjoyable, but not entirely memorable. I can remember it fit nicely with the visuals, but I can't remember any specific themes or pieces.
The show itself is largely episodic, which really helps to change the setting. New episode? New party. The comedy is done so well, it's even surprisingly high brow. It never reverts to crude sex jokes, as easy as it would be, but relies instead on witty dialogue, financial separation, mistaken identity, and playing around with gender rolls. I'll admit, I was pretty weirded out when the twins pretended to be romantically involved, but then the penny dropped and I couldn't stop laughing at their acting. If you're familiar with harem personality types, you'll enjoy how committed each character stays to them. If you're like me, this is a great title to try to see if they're for you. The final few episodes I really enjoyed, they added just a splash of extra emotional depth to the main lead characters and the closing scene did tug a bit on my heart strings. By the end of this show, I ended up enjoying it so much that I bought the DVD so I could share it with others. This is a show best enjoyed with friends. read more
What is ''the'' ultimate pain?
I could describe it as the most painful thing in the world or finishing this anime.
Words cannot define the suffering and persecution i went through in atempt to finish the show. At the time of the last few episode i could see my friends faith in humanity along with his consciousness slip away from him and float into the abyss due to sheer unfettered boredom.
So why is it so bad? Is the story really that bad? Yes, it is really that bad. This anime is about rich pubescent boys and a girl working in a club to entertain rich girls. This anime was solely created to pander to weeaboo faggots and 12 year old girls. Weeks have passed and i still feel like a pathetic loser for sitting through these 26 episodes.
As it says, Host club is supposed to be a comedy, but the only people who find this funny are the fans who desperatly try to defend the show. These are the people who go to anime club meetings where they lay out dry heaves of laughter to feel that they fit in.
There is nothing funny, smart, poetic or remotely entertaining here. The characters and the story couldn't be more cliche. It's really one of those romances with dry comedy that ends with a happy ending and everyone happy hurr durr.
Im drowning in a kiddie pool shallower that this animes story writting.
Usually when a show sucks this bad, it has good art and soundtracks. But this is just torture to the eyes.
Special A and Ouran High School Host Club are both shoujo comedies that center around a somewhat special group of high school students. In Special A this group is an elite class of the best students in school while in Ouran its a "host club". Still, the characters in both groups are eerily similar; in both groups you have a perfect male (lead), a cool reserved character, a cute character and a guy who appears to be a dummy.
Also both animes (being shoujo) center around a very clueless (but strong) heroine. Both shows have a lot of silly comedy. The character designs are alike. Overall both animes have the same feel, so I think that fans of one of them will like the other.
The atmosphere of Ouran High and Special A are the same with those students who enjoy themselves staying in a luxurious room and leisurely spend their days are very much similar. Though Ouran High is much more comedic than special A, still I could say that if you liked Ouran High there's a high possibility that you would also like Special A.
Both have a comedy genre which makes them both fun to watch.Random things appear all the time and you can't help but love all the characters
Both are closely similar... Hikari, a talented girl raised under a normal family, attends a prestigious and elite school. She gets to be a member of a special class of rich and bright students who goof and fool around. Ouran is just like that too...
First, both are absolutely different from their manga counterparts. Second, both involve an elite group of students, be they the best looking ones (Ouran), or the top students (Special A). Third, both are drop dead hilarious. Finally, both involve the leading member of the group (Kei and Suou) liking an extremely dense female member of the group (Hikari and Haruhi).
Speical A has the a bunch of Rich Kids doing what they do best, just like in Ouran. It also has really great characters like Ouran, but what makes this fancy is that it follows the romantic story of each character. It will make you laugh and brighten up your day when you are feeling down.
Special A and Ouran Host Club have the same general feel. Each features a group of distinct characters with slight focus on the relationships between the male and female leads. If you like the comedic adventures and exaggerated animation style of Ouran, Special A is certainly worth a try.
Well firstly, both are shoujo comedy school slice-of-life anime. both shows the dramas of each member of a special group of friends. ouran is romantic in that the club is set up to entertain women, whilst special is romance in the sense that most of the characters have their own love story and pair up. however, both have similar atmospheres. ouran's comedy is better, but special a still has it's fair share. they even end nearly the same!! many scenes reminded me of the other.
Both have a club consisting of rich, beautiful and talented students. The main girl from both series are the oddballs out as far as money is concerned. The romance situations have the main guy in love with the main girl who doesn't even take notice. The comedy is about equal, though in my opinion, I found SA more comical.
Having seen one of the two, it's impossible to see the other without being constantly reminded of the first.
Both great cute Anime where the girl is not really a push over and the guys aren't jerks!! Very funny, great characters.
well..its both about school and a special club..in OHHC it has host club..while in special a it has this special class for top7 student..i found some episode similar in some ways..like in the last episode..where tamaki is going to france while kei is going to ??(the main branch of takashima)..it is both comedy..and emotional in some episode but more on in comedy..
I believe they have some similarities in the fact that there is this "elite" group in school to which only a few are allowed. And there is this display of wealthiness from a couple of its members, it shows in the kind of activities they make. A lot of bishounen running around too, with wicked father or mother figures. I suppose these are common traits in anime that are mostly developed in school. Also the wealthiest boy , or at least the one that shines the most, is in love with a girl of humble origins who is into studying and has a strong personality.
Both revolve around a prestegious group of students and most of them are extremally wealthy. They both have the same type of comedy and are both very good animes if your looking to just relax and laugh. Also I think if you like HaruhixTamaki, you'll love HikarixKei
Both are about a group of people that have gathered together. The leader of both anime likes the protagonist .They are both romantic comedies and are shoujo .There are also a similarity in characters,Tamaki from Ouran is like Tadashi from SA,Kyouya from Ouran is like Kei from SA,Haruhi from Ouran is like Jun from SA,Takeshi(Mori-Sempai) from Ouran is like Ryuu from SA.Both shows also have a pair of twins,Hikaru and Kaoru (both Boys)from Ouran and Jun and Megumi(One boy one girl) from SA.Another suprise is that both groups consists of 7 people. Also in both shows only the protagonists are not rich.So mch similarity in both shows but they both develop in different ways.Still i liked both so why wont you?
If you liked Ouran you willl love "special A",Both are romantic comedys, about an Average girl who acts more like a boy, hanging out with rich people in a special class/club.
They're similar in a lot of ways, also the characters relate to each other a lot.
They are really really similar... Host club having trips and festivals together, everyone has different situations, also they are all rich family boys. Special A is really really similar to that. Both are really really funny! Also, they even have same number of people in their clubs, 7 - 7. Though, in Special A 3 of them are girls, unlike in Ouran where only 1 is a girl.
Both are about school, comedy and romance. The atmosphere is very similar. They have same scenes from the sea, the trip, the cosplay, festival etc.
The story revloves around elite high school students. If Ouran revolves around rich characters, S.A revolves around the intelligent students. They are packed with comedy but if Ouran is more of a slice of life genre, S.A is more of a romance anime. They way how both stories end is similar.
In both anime's there are elite class students and one normal (commoner) person, romance between main characters, great humor, related to school and both have 7 friend's brought together.
I found the both Anime to be very similiar, both are talking about school life, each of the Anime are focusing the school life on Private Groups that the main characters take part in, While Ouran High School talks about a school of rich people and a private Host Club, Special A talks about rich people that are in the private special group of the smartest students.. xD make sure you watch them both!
They are both about a group of high school students in a 'club' of some sort. (Host Club for Ouran and selective students for Special A) The school is both for rich kids with the main character in both being female, being a commoner but still getting into the school anyway. The female main is also every smart in both of them, S.A 2nd in school and Haruhi top of grade. They also both have love problems within their group. Not to mention they are both funny with those hilarious signs.
Well, both anime are really awesome.
Both are comedy, romance, school life, shoujo..
Both have a main female char that is 'poor' but talented and goes in a special elite school/class..
Both series have a extremly good char design, both can be funny, both can be romantic.. Both have characters really good definited.~
I suggest to watch both.. believe me, both worth it! :3
Special A = Ouran High School Host Club + School Rumble
Pompous, rich and good-looking people that can do anything and everything to perfection and are clearly superior to all humans and even posses hearts of gold.... check.... Male lead in love with the totally adorable and equally dense and clueless female lead who doesn't notice his feelings even if slapped in the face with them..... check.... ^^
+All 3 are fantastic series
Ouran is a really funny anime! Every character is special in itself. and the same goes for SA. but Ouran has more individually gone into each character.
almost the same 1 girl and the others are boys; rich school;not so fancy girl; cute girl;comedy;love story
Ouran Host club and Special A have a similar mood going...
both deal with some high school for the rich n a normal talented
young girl that somehow gets caught up with a certain group/club
of the elite...even though they both have their slight differences...
they're both romantic comedies that are completely watchable^^
These series are EXTREMELY simillar because:
*There is one commoner among the superelite students
*They like being with each other and they are like family
*The main guy is in love with the main girl and the girls doesn't show feelings for him
*Even in Special A in the end of series they do a host club
*Endings are extremely similar becuase the main guy is taken away and everyone tries to bring him back
Well Special A is more deep and romantic than Ouran xD
these tow are too similar to each other .. both talks about 7 students .. the main girl is poor and while the rest are rich .. and a lot of similar situations ..
Same situation, one commoner and a bunch of close rich friends in a really prestigious school. the guy that likes her looks a lot like tamaki. It's also really funny and sweet.
They both have this setting where a normal girl goes to a prestigious school attended by rich kids, but still manages to cope and fit in. Both series have comedy and romance thrown in (though in Ouran the romance is more evident in the manga).
Both have the essence of comedy and romance, and they have a similarity of the story outline which held in school with rich and famous people. Also the similarity of some characters is a bit matched, and surely both will give laughter at the end.
Both Ouran High School Host & Special A have a student, which is the main character, who is attending an elite school & is an oddball who does not fit in well when it comes to money. Haruhi from OHSHC & Hikari from Special A are both very dense when it comes to love & they do not realize that Tamaki [OHSHC] & Kei [S.A.] love them. They also share a couple of the same episodes, [I hope I don't ruin this for you guys] including the time when the Host Club & Special A visited the main character's house. Coincidentally, the Host Club & Special A both have seven members, including Haruhi & Hikari. Both are also comedies and I enjoyed watching every episode of both series. All in all, if you have watched one of the two, I recommend you watch the other. OURAN HIGH SCHOOL HOST CLUB & SPECIAL A ROCK ! (:
both are funny as well as there is some romance. if u prefer friendship over romance then ouran high is perfect where as u want everyone to have their pair then u will surely like special A
They both depict the lives of students in highly exclusive schools. There were a lot of fun moments in both, though I find Ouran to be far superior in almost every aspect.
initial character design is very similar however developement more unexpected i would recomend watching ouran high first as SA goes as far as to openly spoof ouran thats how close they are please watch one if you have watched the other
If you like something funny like Ouran High School Host Club than you might as well like Speacial A!These two manga/anime are the best comedy I seen yet. They also have a little romance in them. But mostly comedy. So atch it you might find yourself laughing before you know it!!!
School settings with plenty of romance and humor to go around. Main characters are all funny as hell and give off good feelings.
The setting for both animes are in school. Their stories revolve around a special group of people who are rich and special. The plots are really entertaining and funny!
Special A seems like a copy of Ouran High School Host Club that is not superior to Ouran High School Host Club. But if you are still looking for a humourous anime to watch that is similar to Ouran High School Host Club, try Special A.
Special A and Ouran High School Host club are very similar in storyline. Both are Romance+ Comedy animes and the endings are very similar because in both the girl and the boy jump off something (Clock tower + Bridge). The build-up is also fairly similar as the girl is clueless that the guy(s) like her.
Main characters are similar. Both of them are awesome shoujo series. The only difference is that Special A is romance, while Ouran is parody. Both of them are great.
Both involve a group of elite rich kids who go about their daily lives. Each have more than a daily dose of comedy (chibis galore, everyone! ^^) and a little romance (Special A much more so than Ouran). All the characters are also made out to be extremely attractive, and often have moments where they are surrounded by roses (Ouran) or doilies( Special A) to promote this sort of appeal.(There's also quite a bit of squealing and fangirling among the background characters in both. 0.0) We also get to see some of the hardships of each character's past or current homelives in both. There's a lot of differences of course, but the only big differences are that 1) The main male lead is much, much smarter and moe serious than the main female lead in Special A, wheras it's reversed in Ouran. In fact, Hikari is pretty much the female version of Tamaki. ^^ and 2) There's much more drama in special A than in Ouran.
These two series are almost one in the same. Had the characters in Special A looked like the cast of Ouran I would've been fooled completely into thinking there was a season two of OHSHC. If you like Special A, there's no doubt you will love Ouran.
Special A is like Ouran without the harem.
Ouran is like Special A but with better jokes.
Special A actually has some vestige of a plot if you stick with it.
Ouran KNOWS its ridiculous and by merit of that manages to be fantastic.
They are both distinctly shoujo. They are cute. They are funny. They have romances.
They both take place with a school that houses a prestigous group. Both are a comedy and both have a similar feel. The animation in each series is unique and beautiful with great color.
Both are highly recommended.
Both anime have girls of low social classes attending a prestigious school, and both anime are LOADED with comedy! As far as length goes, they have almost the same amount of episodes.
Both of these deal with a specific group of high school kids and strangely enough their main protagonists are both "poverish", young girls!! Many similarities, yet so many differences, but somehow they're one in the same! Fun, hilarity, and drama are packed with the complicated and interesting lives of each character. And as it always is in animes like this, almost every character is loveable in their very own special way.
The drawing is similar to Ouran, this is nice comedy with romance. And ending is as... unusual as in Ouran xd
Both animes take place in school where the main characters are treated specially. Both include rich and social standings, where the main heroine is middle-class. Somewhat of a reverse harem (in Special A the other main girl even dotes on the heroine). The love interests have somewhat of a love-hate relationship. The males are very protective of the girls they like. School-life, lots of comedy, gorgeous guys, and a growing romance from episode one make these anime two of my favorites.
Both story are comedy romance based upon school life of isolated elite group of teenagers with their interest in one common girl among them and the changes which that commoner brings to their life.
it's set in a school, each with a kinda of "club" where the main character gets attached to...
also, the climax of the story is similar, where the "head/king" plans to go overseas for the sake of the main character.
They are both a high school comedy/romance.
Both shows include rich, beautiful and talented students in "elite" groups. Special A is a group of smart, talented kids from the school. Host Club is a group of handsome young men a "commoner" girl who has to pay back a debt.
In both shows the main character guy is in love with the girl, but the girl is to naive, and never notices.
Both shows are full of comedy, romance, and drama. And you will fall in love with the characters from both shows.
Ouran High Sch
Both shows include a 'commoner' girl that enrolled in a school with extremely rich people.
Shows another story of love, rich main and sides characters, and also one of them (the most pretty and intelligent) falls in love with the 1fragile but strong' main girl. In both of the stories, the girl isn't rich like the others.
They both have to do with love and a group of friends... All special in their own way and very popular throughout the school because of it.
> both series have genres that contain comedy/romance/drama
> both have a club made up of really rich students aparts from the female lead
however ouran high school focuses more on the comedy while special A does let the romance part develop ish. if you enjoyed one of them you wil definitely enjoy the other.
Special A is similar to Ouran as it has it's own group. It is also full of hilarious moments and romances. I would highly recommend this one.
Both shows have a group of friends, all of them are great students, all of them are good friends and during the show their past is revealed. Also, there's a good balance of romance and humor.
both of these is about high school life then hikari in special a and haruhi from ouran is similar both of them came from poor family then the school they study all the students are rich
They're both romance comedies with lots of interesting characters. The female main characters Haruhi - OHSHC - and Hikari - SA - are smart and successful girls. Something they share is that they're almost too thick headed to know that the boys like them. This leads, of course, to hilarious and/or embarrassing situations.
The male main characters Kei - SA - and Tamaki - OHSHC - are both rich, handsome, intelligent and they share the same air of confidence.
These anime are really funny and are worth checking out!
Same atmosfeer, same kind of elite group, same kind of feeling.
Both shoujo, romance, comedy. If u love one of them you will definitly love the other. I personally loved S.A. more due the fact dat haruhi isn't 'being a girl' all the time (what I really don't like about it...) and the fact that I also liked Kaoru too end with her :P
Also Special A is more romance than ouran high school :)
They are both about elite high school students. It's very likely that if you liked Ouran, you will enjoy Special A.
Special A really reminded me of Ouran. Lots of comedy, plenty of character development, and of course the obvious: a poor girl befriending a group of elite students. The endings really reminded me of each other. Special A is more romantic - and there are plenty of side romances as well.
both of them take place at a very expensive school. They both are about a group of friends and the main characters are a boy and a girl who in the end fall in love. they are both a romanic comedy that are super cute! if you liked one of these you would probably like the other.
Both of these involve a special part of a private school, in Ouran Koukou host club's case, it's a host club, and in Special A, it's the top 7 students on the school.
In Special A, there's more rivalry with the first and second placed students, however both were designed to be comical, When I think of one or the other, the other one always comes to mind!
If you like one, you'll most likely like the other!
Both anime are similar in the aspect that they both involve a group of kids who attend a high school for the rich and famous. They both have a heroine who comes from a poor family. They both have the same kind of feel to it, and the art work seems kind of similar. There are two main differences I see between these two anime. The first one is the fact that in OKHC the heroine dresses as a boy most of the time whereas in SA she doesn't. The second one is that in OKHC the main male characters seem to have an interest in only the heroine (more of a harem) - but it does hint to a couple forming at the end; whereas in SA there is an interest between the various male and female characters leading to multiple couples. Both are good and worth watching.
Both animes have the "Special Club with Special Characters" theme in it. The love story is quite interesting, and a lot of funny moments take place in most of the episodes. If you liked Ouran Host Club, then you'll love Special A! ^^
Was searching for a very long time for something similar.
They both are set in a rich school, with a group somewhat superior to the other students. Both are very light-hearted and fun, with a little bit of oblivious romance.
However, one is more intelligence based and the other is more looks (appeal) based.
They're both about school life and give off the rich-people-standing-out-in-school aura.
OHSHC and Special A are similar in many aspects such as...
-Both are hilarious comedies
-Both have a bit of romance
-Both have a special type of elite group such as the host club (OHSHC) and Special A
-Both are shoujo anime
The story is not that similar but the bond that S.A has is similar to the Host club (though they are all guys except Haruhi) Ouran has more comedy at the beginning but romance just explodes at the middle ;) Also, the girl is also oblivious of the guys feelings towards her
-Both about a group of friends in prestigious high schools
-Both lead females are tomboys coming from poor families
-Both have reverse harem
-Both are light and fluffy and have catchy theme songs
The only similarity maybe is that the setting was in a special school. Ouran is for the rich, while Special A is for the geniuses. However, Ouran Host Club is so much, a whole lot better than the latter. It was a lot more fun, the heroine wasn't so weak-willed, doesn't care much, and she wasn't annoying. The confused Tamaki (male protagonist) was also very fun to watch. Romance and comedy scenes were well-timed giving so much more effect. Although it's a bit disappointing that Ouran didn't have a solid ending.
If you've seen Ouran though but not Special A, I don't particularly recommend it. You can watch it at the risk of your own time. The only thing I can say is, there was an ending so do as you please.
Both anime center around a lovable girl who is surrounded by a bunch of bishies (hot guys). Both also has a lot of sweet and comedic moments that will tug at your heartstring and make you laugh out loud. All in all, both are great anime with a list of characters that you can't possibly hate.
Contains similar amount of cute, comedy, sugary sweet and sometimes even a taste of drama. Characters are all likable, without any significant villian, plus both are full of attractive guys, a huge eyed female protagonist, episodic events and most of all, a feel-good factor
It's a Comedy / High School / Love story that is touching funny and beautiful story that centers around the sad pasts of the characters. I highly Recommend Fruits Basket if you loved Ouran.
Both these anime are in a high school setting and are known as reverse harem (one girl amongst many guys). Each individual character have their own conflicts they must overcome. Hilarious funny moments as well.
Very similar characters and even the character design and personailities are very similar. Also it has that lighthearted atmosphere and then it has its sad tragic moments. Although in my opinion Fruits Basket has more tradgedy in it and made me cry, lol. I think both are extremley excellent anime's they are like twins or not so distant cousins. Fruits Basket made me cry out of sadness while Ouran made me cry out of laughter. Both anime's are very funny but Ouran has that one step more towards comedy and Fruits Basket one step towards the tragic. Both completley diffrent story lines!
These two shojos are the best of their genre. I'm not usually a shojo fan, but I had to sidestep and make a recommendation for them. If you like Ouran High School because of its "cuteness" especially the relationship between Tamaki and Haruhi (or even Haruhi and Kaoru), then you definitely like Fruits Basket because it has the same types interconnected relationships.
They both show a girl surrounded by a bunch of boys and trying to help. The characters are funny and the scenes hilarious. They both have their originality and quirk. If you liked Fruits Basket, there is no way you won't like Host Club!!
The most obvious is the use of the same voice actor (Japanese): Momiji = Honey. Ouran is actually a series that mocks a lot of stereotypes that male characters are put in, especially in shoujo series. While there are several references that can be drawn throughout the anime-verse, there are several than can be seen in Fruits Basket alone; and the Momiji-Honey connection is the most obvious, hence the use of the same VA. Not to mention both are hilarious in their own right with integrated moments of seriousness to show and advance plot.
Fruits Basket is also a sweet, cheery anime but with a very big dose of heart. Both anime have wonderfully endearing characters and are well written and very funny.
Both follow a lighthearted storyline with endearing and memorable characters and lots of humorous scenes.
Both anime feature an arena of guy characters that each separately fall squarely into one of the typical 'categories' of anime guy characters (appealing to people with different preferences), and they surround a female main character
The comic moments are very alike, biggest difference between them is that Ouran High school Host club doesn't have all the drama Furuba does.
Just like fruits basket, another girl gets sucked into a comical outragous adventure with boys... Watch as one girl goes from the commoner nerd to one of the Host Club boys... while trying to hide that she is a female.
Both of these anime have female main characters that are surrounded by guys. In each the main female is oblivious to love and has a one track mind. They are the same story each with its own twist.
Fruits Basket is another romance/comedy anime that has a lot of funny parts and interesting characters. I think that if you enjoy Ouran that Fruits Basket would be right up your alley as well.
Lots of cute boys of varying types inhabit both series, plus the main characters are both somewhat down-to-earth girls in odd situations.
Both are hilariously related with a reverse harem twist. One heroine surrounded by gorgeous bishounen! Not only that, they tell of a story wherein the heroine gives off an effect to each one of those gorgeous bishounen.
they DO have a storyline... they don't just go around in circles. That's why they're awesome to watch!
Both are romantic/comedy series' are set in highschool where a somewhat loner female character gets thrown into a strange situation with a group a guys.
Both of these Anime's are completely awsome and two of the best Anime's I've ever seen. They are both reverse harem full of comedy and romance that will make you laugh and sometimes cringe. Also Momiji and Honey are voiced by the same voice actor!
same kind of cute girl with crazy affectionate guys, but haruhi fujioka is a bit edgier than tohru honda
Both series are mostly-friendship-based reverse harem shoujo series catalyzed by an important and series-enduring secretive element that provides as much drama as humour for the series. As both progress, the potential for drama and tears becomes clearer the more the reader gets to know about the characters' families. Some romance, some cuteness, and it turns out the series may be more similar than they seem at first glance!
There are a lot of aspects which make both Furuba and Ouran similar. First of all, both feature reverse harem (one girl around a lot of guys). They are also romantic comedies. If you liked Fruits Basket but wanted a Tohru with a more realistic personality, you might enjoy Haruhi in Ouran. Likewise, if you thought Tamaki was a bit too oblivious and air-headed, you might Yuki in Fruits Basket. Fans of Kyo will adore Kaoru and Hikaru.
The story line is not very similat but they are both funny, and about a girl down on her luck. You will truley enjoy this anime. If you can't believe it the just watch the first ep and see for your self.
Both are high school animes. They are also both comedies that are base around the same general humor. The characters are all enjoyable and relatable. Both of these animes are humor based but have that serious element to them when the time calls for it.
Fruits Basket and Ouran High School Host Club both are reverse harems that are mainly comedy, but have their serious side too.
The Humor and the vibe it gives off just feels so close and theres the unspoken love the hilarious moments and the fact that I ROFL for both is something.
have a similar feeling .. a girl come to a group of people life & change something in it .. both are romantic comedy ..
A LOT of the characters are really similar. For example, Hani likes to eat cake, sweet things, doesn't look his age, has blonde hair, is really cute, and has usa-chan. Momiji is possessed by the rabbit zodiac spirit, doesn't look his age, has blonde hair, likes sweet things, and is really cute. That's the most similar, but there are other things too! It's a reallly cute anime.
Both have a similar concept of one girl put in a situation of dealing with quirky guys. Both are very humorous with more serious undertones. Fruits Basket probably has more serious undertones, but both are good at balancing the serious moments with the very random and hilarious moments.
Ouran High School Host Club and Fruits Basket are two anime definitely worth watching. Aside from being similar in terms of being a reverse harem, both of these anime will surely keep you on your seat with their light-hearted comedy and romance.
Both have cute, but naive, girls who don't notice the boy around them likes them.
-bishonen (pretty boys)
tamaki = yuki (prince)
honey = momiji (lolito)
haruhi = tohru
1 female protagonist with bunch of bishounens around. But that's not all! You will also get some humorous moments, nice drawing/graphics and some more serious and dramatic moments in the end. If You feel like watching something funny, light but not stupid and completely lacking of seriousness You should watch these 2 series!
Both are about a girl who each lost their mother, but are still able to smile. They both meet weird boys, with many different secrets to tell.
Tohru Honda(Fruits Basket) is always talking to her mother in spirit, and Haruhi Fujioka(Ouran High School Host Club) is also always talking to her mother, just more in her mind and not aloud.
I think you you really enjoyed watching Ouran High School Host Club, then Fruits Basket is something you might want to try out. :)
Both are a kind of "reverse harem" thing, with the lead girl the object of many affections. Both stories are during the high school years, and are more focussed on ironic situations and causing the viewer to laugh as opposed to being serious or meaningful. Light, fun, and G.
They both have some very similar dynamics and I'm sure if you watch them you'll be able to connect similar characters together. They both have everything needed to make great shoujo comedy. (Ouran's better IMO)
For me, this recommendation was a bit obvious, but I'm going to go ahead, humor myself, and write this recommendation anyway.
The overall feel of Ouran and Fruits Basket are a bit different, but there are too many similarities between the two to leave them unchecked. Sure, the plot is a little different, and the situation, but, again, there were just too many similarities.
First is the characters. Tohru, the female protagonist of Fruits Basket, and Haruhi, the female protagonist of Ouran, both lost their moms at an early age. After living without their mom for years, they end up in a situation where they are surrounded by all men, almost all of the time. Tohru ends up in a house with men that change into animals while Haruhi ends up in a host club with men that change costumes every week.
Another character similarity. Momiji, from Fruits Basket, and Honey, from Ouran, are basically the same character, save for the fact that Honey doesn't turn into a bunny. Although, he does carry around a bunny stuffed animal constantly. Another difference is that Momiji doesn't have a character like Mori to act as his "elder", so to speak. Still if you liked one, you will like the other.
Other than characters, stories are a bit similar as well. Sure, Haruhi doesn't live with the males while Tohru does, but the way that they progress through the series gives way to see similarities. As the series progresses, however, the characters must face different types of challenges that define their characters differently.
Really, they are so similar, character wise, that it's scary, but the series do have their differences. I'm not saying that if you love one, you will love the other, but you will at least like the other. If you don't like one, I would avoid the other entirely.
I find them similar. both female characters have no mothers and they male leads in these animes do not realize there feelings toward the lead female charactes. PLus both are cute! ^.^
Both series are emotionally involved - Ouran because it relates and unrelates so much to everyday life, and Fruits Basket because it also relates (and, to a lesser extent, unrelates) to everyday life. Both series, however, focus on life from different angles, with Ouran taking a more "Life is for living, let's make the very best of it and have fun times all the time" stance and Fruits Basket taking a little more serious "Life is for living, so let's put some more meaning into our lives" stance. In addition, both were hit series in Japan when they were released - what more could you possibly want?
They both have a sort of similar feel to them. Even though Fruits Basket isn't completely realistic, there's a lot of eccentric and dramatic characters in both series. :) For example, Momiji (Fruits Basket) and Honey-Sempai (Host Club) are a lot alike. They're both very feminine and love cute things and sweets~ :D A lot of the host club characters sometimes remind me of Ayame, too. xD
All in all, these series are 2 of my favorites, so you should watch them~
Both shows seem to have a lot of similar comedy situations, a female lead, and just general atmospheric similarities.
these two have that same rom com thing going on. i also feel all the characters have been well written and have good back ground storys. These two are the ones i always tell people to watch if they want to start getting in to anime, they are also the only two animes i can watch with my family and everyone loves it lol.
Fruits Basket and Ouran High School Host Club have the lead female being forced to stay with a group of men. They both have a high school setting. There are many character similarities: Momiji (FB) and Honey (OHSHC), Hatori (FB) and Kyouya (OHSHC), and Kyo (FB) and Hikaru (OHSHC), just to name a few.
Haruhi and Tohru are both kind girls who become close to boys at their schools due to a secret they have to keep. For Fruits Basket, its about the Zodiac curse, and for Ouran High School Host Club, its about Haruhi's gender.
Both involve a reverse harem. Both are extremely funny. There's a family-like atmoshere in both. Both have similar art.
Both are constructed around a nice family atmosphere. Both are reverse harems. Both are similarly animated.
The charcater of Hunni in Ouran is like a less complex version (and less annoyin) of Momiji from Fruist Basket.
Another story of a 'fragile but strong' main girl and her 'really pretty' male characters. Like Haruhi, Tohru Honda also likes to do the 'home service' and the boys protect her.
Both animes have such a great feel to them! They both make you laugh, as well as making you cry! However, Ouran does not have any 'Supernatural' elements included, but, there is a considerable amount of day-dreaming! I would strongly reccomend it!
When I started watching Ouran it reminded me entirely of Fruits Basket which I had watched just before this. Both are Shoujo with one girl and many men. All of the men have different, distinct personalities. There is a clear social (or familial) barrier between the girl and all of the guys. The girl is a positive influence on all of the men. Both of them have a light, whimsical feel at times relating to the comedy.
It is a reverse harem and it is also a comedy. It's fun and easygoing and is very enjoyable to watch. Highly recommended.
Both are reverse harems, relaxed, and humorous. Female protagonist that changes everything. You will love Tohru as much as Haruhi, or vice versa. Main characters from both anime have touching and sad pasts. Fruits Basket is as humorous and funny as Ouran; anybody who loves funny school life anime will definitely enjoy Fruits Basket or Ouran.
Both has nice and kind protagonist girl who is surrounted by funny male characters.
If you liked Fruits Baskets you'll be sure to like Ouran High School Host Club , they have a similar to feel to it, Ouran has a more fan service that will have rolling with laughter.
Both are romantic comedies and have a similar type of humour with many moments where you just can’t help but laugh out loud. Regarding story line, they both centre around a cute, sweet girl who due to different circumstances ends up being surrounded by many hot guys. Both of these animes are pretty hilarious and if you like some romance thrown in with a laugh I think you will love fruits basket and Ouran koukou host club to.
Both about a girl and a bunch of hot guys. VERY comedic and loveable.
Both Fruits Basket and Ouran Host Club take place in a high school setting, common threads are life in japan, humor and coming of age. The way in which the characters interact with one another is unique in its own right. The Ouran Host Club is funny with the similarities of fruits basket because both show comedy on the surface but it is the underlining stories that really makes both anime's a must see. Once you watch the Ouran Host club, you will be a new fan before your done watching the series and you will want to make this amazing anime part of your collection.
Both shows are very similar. They both have this lightheartedness about them with the comedy and the romance. Also they both develop into something more mature/serious.
Both animes have light hearted story lines, are reverse harems and take place in a high school setting. Both are of the rom/com genre.
Both are full of cute and hilarous moments which are sure to entertain.
If you like one you are sure to enjoy the other.
In both shows, our main female protagonist is in a sort of reverse harem, but without any explicit romance. Tohru and Haruhi are very perceptive characters, who sort of solve the problems and change the hearts of those they meet. Also, both shows are slice-of-life shojo, with plenty of comedy.
I also found these two to be similar in that some episodes I re-watched several times, while others were painful to watch just the first time around.
-Both are reverse harems
-Both have memorable characters
-Both are hilarious
-Both have some very sad moments in them
-Both are shoujo
Both of these anime have a naive female protagonist who have several male characters fighting for their affections. The female characters are both Mary Sue characters. They're both in similar categories. Their humor and characters are very similar. Momiji and Honey are practically the same character. If you liked Fruits Basket, you will like OHSHC.
They both focus on a female protagonist surround by a group of males throughout the series. The both give major feels and many facepalms! When the girl doesn't understand their feelings it's so cringy! I love both of these animes so hard!
Like Noelle said, both shows have a reverse harem thing going on (where boys are after the girl). Not all the guys in Yamato Nadeshiko are after the girl, but it's close enough to be considered a reverse harem. Comedy, weird situations. You'll enjoy both shows.
both series have the same sense of humour, and the main characters also remind each others in both series. i find something similar in the plot also
One girl, with a lot of handsome guys. And it's not just a normal girl, in both the animes the girl is a bit abnormal, which makes the anime funny!
similar themes: one girl & many pretty boys, romance and comedy style also very close
Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge aka The Wallflower is similar because they are both romantic comedies that deal with an unique girl having to deal with sexy guys. Both have similar comedy and situations between the characters. I actually read Wallflower manga thinking that it reminded me of Host Club then I tracked down the anime and watched it. If you enjoy Host Club you will love Wallflower.
Ouran High School Host Club and Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge are both about sexy boys dealing with a girl whos like a guy
Both are similar, an unusual girl (Haruhi and Sunako) who coexist with a group of handsome boys, the difference will be that in ouran Haruhi have to be with them to pay her debt, and in Yamato Nadeshiko they have to be with her to have freee rent.
What could possibly be better for a girl than getting into some guys community. One girl, supposable stupid and obvious, few guys (more - better) as pretty as you couldn't even imagine. Here we go, this is shojo. But our todays guinea pigs are different. It's a total parody on all shojo cliches and many other things like date-sims, yaoi and so on. Better to watch first some classical stuff like Fushigi Yuugi, success guarantied.
Both Ouran and YNSH starts with typical and than crush all your hopes to predict movements. Prepare yourself for unstoppable laugh. Ouran is more delicate, YNSH hitting a raw nerve without hesitation. If you're shojo addict or smth like this try to bust stereotypes and than you'll definitely find those series amazing.
Comedy, A girl who doesn't fit in with the boys, Watch as the boys try to teach the Sunakol to become a young lady. If you loved Ouran High School you are sure to love Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge (Wallflower)...
The theme is the same. Both anime deal with a group of bishies around a girl. Male harem and comedy is also the theme of both anime. Although I liked OHHC much better but these two are very close in some ways.
The positive ways of rich families and the possibilities of it never to happen in reality. Still they both amuse in the impossibilities and the over-dramatical gestures.
Both are reverse Harems types. Though Ouran has more of a plot, both are very funny and are shoujo.
They both have a girl surrounded by guys
Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge is what would happen if Ouran High School Host Club has a baby with Kuragehime. While I think each one is enjoyable, I felt YNSH had more overall depth to it. While it's more famous counterpart may have NO trouble getting viewers, if you haven't seen it yet I highly recommend you watch Yamato Nadeshiko because it's SO funny and awesome!
it kind of has the same storyline about a girl surrounded by cool guys that are always together, its pretty much the same in a lot of ways
Take one unladylike girl, stick her with a handful of dazzling, charismatic boys, and fill in the leftover space with fast-paced, frenetic, occasionally absurd humour. The series take a very similar premise (an androgynous girl works off a debt to a host club by learning to become one of them, a group of dazzling boys attempt to reform their landlady's anti-social niece with free rent as their motivation) and take off running in opposite but equally hilarious and entertaining directions. Similar, but different enough to be fresh and funny instead of the same ol' thing.
Both animes are so funny in a similar way. High school stuff, ''hyper cool' boys and ''alternative'' girl in a lot of LOL situations. The characters are amusing and likeable. In both animes the characters get themselves involved in crazy situations and you really laugh your ass off!!! I find both really similar and both are definitely high recommended: you have to see them!!!
Both are comedy and contain one girl with bishounen boys. the relationship between Tamaki and Haruhi it is remind you in Kyohei and Sunako also in presentation the events are similar.
If you liked Ouran High School Host Club, you'll like Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge too. That is because both of them are about a girl that stays around a group of pretty boys. Together they are going trough a lot of funny adventures. I don't know how to put it, but I think that you won't regret! o.-
They are both shoujo and reverse harem. Also the protagonist female of both series undergoes a transformation. The series are also both comedies.
Both revolve around a reluctant heroine stuck in a group of hilarious bishonen in a sort of "reverse-harem" theme. In both they go through funny situations and the character interactions are very much alike. While there is more of a plot line in Ouran both anime share a very similar theme and comedy.
If you loved Ouran; you'll love Wallflower too! x
If you're into reverse harems, then these anime's are a few of those. Both anime's have their sets of bishounens to awe and dazzle the females and of course a main shoujo...a shoujo that's not beauty-conscious and disregards her appearance but would be very kawaii if only she knows and is willing to fix herself up...
These anime's will leave you laughing in your seat with their excessive humor and romance that you will really look forward to.
They are both fun to watch and revolve around an interesting girl who has to deal with a handful cute guys. You'll see some similar characteristics between the two shows when you watch. ^_^
Both feature the popular idea of the 'reverse harem' with the female main character spending all her time with the male counterparts. Both the female protagonists are similar in that they are indifferent to the boy's charms and are forced into spending time together. Haruhi (Ouran) broke the expensive vase so she has to serve in the Host Club - Sunako (Yamato Nadeshiko) is sent to her aunt's house where four boys live free of rent, only if they can turn Sunako into a beautiful lady.
both the girls here are surrounded by handsome and pretty boys (reverse-harem)...
and a bit of comedy and romance...^_^
One girl surrounded by hot or cool guys. All guys care for the girl so much. The girl in both stories are very lucky. :) Both stories are very funny. Hope you like it! :)
1) pretty boys 2) crazy and outlandish characters and storylines 3) maybe it's a bit insane but it does have a really good theme at it's core
Ouran High School Host Club and Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge (The Wallflower) may appear different on the surface, but when you start watching, the two series really do have a lot in common. First is the fact that the main, female protagonist is forced to be around an attractive group of men. Although Haruhi, from Ouran, and Sunako, from The Wallflower, act different, they share the same "not a typical woman" kind of personality.
The basic idea of the story is similar as well, but other than that, the stories are pretty different. Because of the difference characteristics of the male protagonists, the story doesn't match very well past the main idea. Overall, the series have the same feel and basic idea for female protagonists. I'm not saying the viewer will love both of them, but if you like one, the other does deserve at least a look.
both are quick-paced comedies about a group of charismatic guys trying to help an atypical kind of girl.
They both are great reverse harem. There is also some similarities in character.
Both have the great humour and bishounens
Hilarious yet can sometimes have more serious moments.
Reverse Harem and unusual heroin
Both have very similar humor and a lot of strange things going on such as crossdressing and awkward moments. They both focus on a girl who is surronded by gorgeous boys but doesn't get all excited about it like most girls would. Plus both have Vic Mignogna!
They're both Reverse Harem animes, only three continuous female characters, two of which don't appear much at the beginning. Both comedy, both animes where the leading female and the leading male seem to have crushes on each other, just in this case, they don't know it. YNSH is a lot darker than Ouran HSHC, but they are both still very cute.
Both deal with a set of beautiful boys trying to help out one girl. In each case a new girl arrives and they help her. Both are absolutely hilarious. in ouran its about a girl who transfers to an academy but she is mistaken for a boy. In the Wallflower the main girl is seen as scary and creepy. Both have goals to turn the female into a beautiful women.
Its a must watch anime both, hilarious.
wehn ever i watch yamato it reminds me of ouran dey got the same story nearly and the four men are loved by all the girls same as ouran
A woman surrounded by beautiful men in a hilarious story.
Both series have female protagonists surrounded by beautiful men and they are both school comedy and romance. Even though i like Ouran High School Host Club more, if you enjoyed The Wallflower, you really should watch Ouran High School Host Club.
these two titles both include the genre "bishounen" (which means that an anime includes hot guys xD) but the story is different. the wall flower is basically about these attractive guys trying to change a girl in love with death, spirits, blood and ect into a lady while ohhc story is the there's a host club with a host thats really a girl trying to pay off the vase she broke. ^^
I was surprised this one isn't here yet
Well, in both anime the main heroine is surrounded by (hot) boys against her own will
The boys in both anime have a special 'type' (prince type, cute type, playboy, etc.)
In both anime there is a another girl close to the group (Ouran-Renge and Yamato-Noi)
Ouran High School Host Club and Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge (The Wallflower in English) both consist of a female main character that does not look their best, and good-looking male students trying to make them more ladylike. Though, the boys' reasons for trying to make the female more ladylike are different, both have romance as well as comedy, with a little bit of darkness at some point in the story.
YNSH and OHSHC are Harem. Both anime stars a girl who is slightly weird but is met by guys who are very good looking and try to improve the girl in a way or another.
They have the 'really pretty' male characters and the 'fragile but strong' main girl. It's basically the story of a girl that live with pretty boys, and in both of cases, the girl isn't a 'perfect lady', but likes to do the 'home service' and the boys try to make her become one.
Reverse harem shows that actually make an effort to capture your interest. Quirky heroines, over-the-top shenanigans, and ridiculous male characters allow both shows to rise above the negative connotations of the genre.
In both of these anime heroines fall into society of handsome men, which opens a great comedy plot.
*Both are reverse harems, have the typical pretty boy cast, and end ripping your expectations of an unoriginal plot and characters to shreds. Although I admit that The Wallflower (alternate name for Yamato Nadeshiko Schichi Henge) isn't as amazing as Ouran (my opinion), it is wonderful in its own way. So what are you still doing here? Go watch it!
This is very similar to ouran high school host club. it is toned down on the romantic side and amped up on the funny side. it almost goes too far in the whole cute guys side of things as is probs a bit embarrassing to watch with a group but is still absolutely enjoyable.
Both are reverse Harems with an out of place female character
the main differences is in Ouran they exploit the female's confusing appearance, whereas in Yamato they are trying to make the lead more feminine. Both leads are talented and quite pretty when they try. Both are surrounded by 'pretty boys'. I think I like Ouran a little better, except for the over-used banana peel gag.
it has an interesting love story and the characters are really funny. i think that if you found kaichou wa maid-sama interesting, then you'll probably enjoy this anime as well
The humor is so similar, plus both stories are about tough women stuck in unfortunate circumstances that they come to grudgingly accept.
Both anime are about a poor girl trying to live their life. Both animes are also romance and comedy!
Both of them are romance, comedy, school and shoujo animes. I find Haruhi and Misaki very similar (both of them are poor girls trying to fit in rich crowd, funny, and act same in similar situations) like Tamaki and Takumi too (blonde bishounens, they both make you fall in love with them in a second). Both of animes are great too.
Both school stories, both main female chracters are inteligent, both cute love stories
There is a situation where the high school students are all working together and form their own group. Eventually the main character of this story also shows love for the female character who starts working as a maid or a server in this case. :]
The characters in both animes are simply amazing. Usui = Tamaki; Misaki = Haruhi
Both animes deal with heroines who are strong willed, smart, and somewhat poor.
Both series also fit into the comedy/school/slice of life genres.
I found them similar because misaki is poor same as haruhi & they both are in love with (takumi in maid sama & tamaki in OHSHC) although it took them a long time to realize their feelings.
Delicious shoujo! OHSHC has another strong willed and somewhat wrecklessly self reliant heroine with not just one but several very good looking guys looking after her (not to mention the lovely Hikaru and Kaoru twins that are "very close"). VERY worth the watch.
I LOVED these 2 animes. Ouran has always been a favorite of mine and when i was recommended Maid-sama i was a little reluctant. but after i started watching i noticed the similarities right away. if you want an anime about gorgeous boys and the tomboy with a secret that steals everyones hearts, these 2 animes are for you! the characters all have similar traits and while watching Maid-sama i was constantly making references back to Ouran! if you're a fan of Ouran then you have to watch Maid-sama and vice versa!
The development in the love story is similar;
The comedy and the events are varied in both anime..
Both anime(s) include a new event in each episode..
However, Host club is funnier :P
But the love story in maid sama is stronger :D
I loved both A LOT!
Both animes have a strong leading female role who have a secret they are trying to keep from fellow students. Both plots have key love interests and several minor love interests that develop throughout the anime.
Even though the stories may seem quite different, the hero and heroine of both shows share a lot of similarities. Tamaki and Takumi (even the names sound similar) are both rich, hot guys who all the girls fall head over heels for but they are only interested in their respective heroines Haruhi and Misaki. The heroines, Haruhi and Misaki, are both diligent girls but come from poor families; they do not care much for boys and focus more on studying and excelling at other things
Both have a driven lead female character that doesn't care too much about guys, and both have the main girl forced somehow to hang out with attractive guys even though they don't want to.
Both mainly light hearted and hilarious. Both have totally oblivious heroines and obviously crushing guys. Amazing characters with defined personalities and lots of lovable supporting characters as well. Fans of the Hitachiin brothers will definitely adore Usui, and vice-versa.
Both anime have a lot of hilarious moments and a lot of cosplaying.
The female leads from both anime, Haruhi and Misaki, are hardworking, intelligent and poor girls who finds the male lead annoying.
Tamaki and Takumi are also similar. They're mixed, rich, hot and have family problems.
I love their anime and manga.
They both have similar art styles. Also, they're both the types of story where the guy likes the girl but the girl isn't really aware of it.
Both anime include a lot of humor and some drama. Overall, these two are on my top lost of anime.
as duas personagens principais são bastante semelhantes, ambas são pobres e quem se apaixona por elas são meninos ricos.
Similar feel and humor. In Ouran, the big thing is host clubs, while in Maid-Sama the big thing is maid cafes - both of which always consist of dressing up and trying hard to appeal to their customers. And obviously the main female leads have some similar characteristics: poor, strong-willed, and followed around by some blonde boy who loves her.
The relationship between Misa-Chan and Usai are alot like the relationsihp the Main characters have in Ouran Koukou Host Club as in she's not interested in him at first and is in away oblivious. But the entire series is hilarious and this is my second favorite show to Ouran koukou Host Club!! Love it!!!
Ouran reminded me a lot of Kaichou Wa Maid-sama for many reasons. The fact Misaki worked for a cosplay café in Maid-sama and in Ouran, most of the main characters work at a host club; which are very similar.
Two of the characters from each show are also similar in personality. Both are natural, poor, and aren't really about frilly girl things. Also the comedy and romance are 2 genres they both have in common.
Having watched Ouran Highschool Host Club directly after Kaichou wa Maid-sama!, I found the two both appealed to me in very similar ways. Both shows have female characters who are being fawned over. The lead girls are both strong willed and both have secrets which the male protagonist knows. I thought the two shows complimented each other. The two have similar humor, and the artwork is nearly identical.
Both are the similar because they're both a shoujo that would entertain you. Also the main male lead want to keep the occupation of the main female lead a secret. You'll have to watch them to believe it.
The heroines of these 2 series are both brave and daring, showing many male characteristics. Of course, this means that the male lead must help the heroines out when they unconsciously put themselves in danger due to their selflessness and desire to help others.
-Main character dressing up like a male, therefore they're being mistaken as a male by everyone instead of a female
-Main character ends up in a host club, damaging some of their belongings, therefore they're forced to join the main character's team
-Both give off VERY similar vibes
-Both involve stunning, attractive characters
-Both male lead in both anime's personality is very similar: Cocky, get lots of ladies, popular
The similarity between these 2 anime are the situation the female lead are place into, which is being forced into a club by the male lead to repay for the damages of expensive items they broke as well the female leads being mistaken as a guy by the male lead and is forced to maintain the opposite sex to repay the debt.
That being said, the difference are that in Ouran the female lead does not care if her sex is mistaken, While in Aoharu x kik shes mindful of being mistaken. Also, the club they are force into are different as well. In both anime, they are a host club at start but in Aoharu x kikanjuu she was force to join a Survival game team and the male lead refuses to allow girls in but mistaken the female sex due to her appearance and action. While in Ouran it was an actual host club, but did not allow any female to be the host because it's against the rule.
So if you enjoy Ouran Koukou, you'll surely enjoy Aoharu
Judging by the first episode, the whole first episodes were soo similar to each other. In both anime there is a girl (looking like a guy and actually mistaken for one) involved with blondie boy working as host. The girl makes some things broken there and is forced to pay for it yet it's so much that she has to pay for it by joining them. Also the characters are really similar. Even by the appearance. Both comedy. Similar vibes.
If you watched OHSHC, then your mind will instantly snap a connection!
The protagonists are highschool girls dressed as boys and accidentally made a commitment with "host club"; That cause them to be part of a team. Cute, yet strong-willed cross-dressers in what they believe in. These series are comedic with highly attractive bishounens as well.
Haruhi Fujioka, the poor scholarship student, enrolls to a rich academy, and joins the host club, unwillingly, because 'he' broke an expensive vase. Unless her debt is paid off, she will have to be a host until then. OHSHC leans more to the shoujo/romance genre.
On the other side, Hotaru Tachibana, hates evil in general. Hotaru misunderstands a situation and proceeds to confront a host club. Hotaru commits to a bet, ruins an expensive workplace, and have no choice, but to join the team. Aoharu x Kikanjuu is more to action side so far.
They both have a main character that is a girl disguised as a boy
They both have a host club
Both the main characters have to pay off a debt by joining a club
A female main character is often mistaken for a guy, she only reinforces these misunderstandings by dressing as a male. In order to pay for the damages she caused to an elitist host club, she is forced to join (the host club in Ouran, survival game club in Aoharu).
The host club itself is an important set piece for the story and it's led by a charismatic and cocky man, who takes interest in the girl MC.
The humor in both series comes mainly from the girl being thrown into a male-only group.
-both main characters are girls who are mistaken for guys
-both have a blond host and a black-haired megane character
-the main character joins a 'club' in order to pay off debt
-Both of the main characters get misunderstood gor a male.
-Both of the main characters get forced into something they find weird but end up liking it.
-Both have a pretty suave host love interest.
If Ouran Host Club were centered around hardcore men rather than pretty boys, it would be Aoharu x Kikanjuu.. I absolutely love both of them though.
The first episodes of both shows follow a similar plot line. A girl disguised as a boy goes into a host club and breaks expensive things. The blond outgoing host invites the girl to join the activity they need them for, but they are male inclusive only activities. And so each story begins. Honestly Ouran had a better execution of the whole oweing a host concept, but both shows are still enjoyable.
Girl Protagonist, mistaken as a guy, is forced to join a certain "club" and has to act as the opposite gender. Reason being is that she needs to repay the damages she had caused at the host club that belongs to the guy protagonist.
-In both anime, the protagonists wa forced into doing what they think is stupid and weird, but they eventually likes the job as they partcipated.
- Everyone thinks that the protagonist was a boy, though the protagonist was a girl. (Yeah, yeah -.,-)
-The anime type was different~ one was an action/ gun stuff, when the other one was basically guys and girls in a host club, how girls fall for the charm of the hosts. -.-"
( I don't know if Aoharu x Kikanjuu will turn out to be al ovey- dovey anime or not, since it's ongoing and only 3 episodes'out.)
Crossdressing, action, drama, comedy, and a whole lot of fun.
Both have a female trap character
Some of the characters are very simalar.
Very simalar sense of humor.
A cliche(but not really) story about a short-haired girl with a boyish attire, which cause him to be mistaken as a male. Because of this, Matsuoka Masamune, a host, made the main character, Tachibana Hotaru, join his team alliance called the "Toy ☆ Gun Gun Team." It's a "survival game", a real-life game wherein the players uses guns(bullets are fake). you will surely like Hotaru because of her strong sense of justice. Join her adventure as she gather courage to reveal that she's really a girl to her teamates.
It kinda has the same plot line KINDA! Girl mistaken as a guy and owes a club after breaking something kind of thing. Absolutely excellent anime though!
It has funny moments as well as serious moments. The characters aren't just crazy and hilarious. They all have backgrounds that aren't really that happy. The main character is also sort of thrown into a world that she isn't used to. There are also many cute guys.
Both are shoujo comedy shows that have romance elements. They have a strong female lead and are in the TOP 100 on MAL.
A big amount of really great comedy is present in both of them.
Skip Beat! can shine with lots of chibifications, hilarious moments, a great way of using different animation styles, a good story and interesting characters.
Ouran Host Club on the other side is a reverse harem at its best and also has lots of these hilarious moments.
Both are shows you shouldn't miss, if you like comedies.
The stories are different, but the main characters are similar - smart, quick, determined, tomboyish "commoners" (though Haruhi is much more mature than Kyoko). The humor is similar too. I think if you like one, you'll appreciate the other one. They are light and funny and great
Ouran and Skip Beat! are both about exceptionally strong women in unlikely circumstances. Both series have striking art and a cast of strapping young bishes to oogle.
Well, the feel that is. Not with the story or anything. Both the leads are such enjoyable characters, Haruhi and Kyoko. I like girls who know how to fight and not the damsel in distress type. These animes well represented the Shoujo Genre. Girl Power!
Simply: both are love-comedies with a lot of bishies.
Main female characters are not very much alike, but they both only have one parent, are commoners, stubborn, nice and brave.
Imo, OHSHC is still better.
Both series have crazy events, lots of humour and little of romantic.
They both display strong woman that don't give up. The two female characters are usually one's to give advise and make others happier.
Both have comedy, but Ouran High Schoo Host Clubl is definitely funnier than Skip Beat. :]
When it comes to Romance, in Ouran the main characters fail to notice their feelings for eachother through out... just about the entire anime, but they do have moments of romance which make it cute :P In Skip Beat, the romance is more on the sadder side, but it more about understanding the concept of being in love. Then again both guy and girl fail to notice their feelings for one another until later on in the anime.
Funny characters, with beautiful bishounen males.
If you liked the humor, funny acting and animation exaggerations from Skipbeat, you`ll enjoy ouran aswell. (:
They are both hilariouse *sp?* anime and the main character in skip beat have the same personality as tomeki in OHHC with a mad way .Also they are not long and you will enjoy every single moment of them .
Both are hilarious, romantic, with strong female leads. They have similar romantic backgrounds, with both the female leads disliking the male main characters in the beginning, but falling in love in the end. I highly recommend Skip Beat if you liked OHHC!
Both anime is solely based around one protagonist (girl) and the things that happen which changes the way she is.
Ouran and Skip Beat! are equally funny and enjoyable. The main character's inner thoughts are one of the best parts in the show.
If you love comedy with a hint of romance, this is the anime for you. After being treated like a carpet by her famous 'friend' Kyoko decides that taking away the spotlight will be the best form of revenge. Follow her journey as an aspiring actress as she tries desperately to exceed in the industry and find herself along the way.
