When Sonico wakes up every morning she sees big things on the horizon, but when she gets up gravity takes hold and she can focus on what is directly ahead of her for the day. And that is a good thing, because Sonico is more than just an attractive girl with a really huge set of... er... headphones. She is also an incredibly busy young woman who somehow juggles modelling and working at her grandmother's bar while attending college and performing lead vocals and playing the guitar in the all-girl band Fastest Speed in Space. How she manages to squeeze it all in is as big a mystery as how she manages to squeeze into some of her outfits or paint her toenails without falling over, but somehow she always stays balanced and abreast of the situation. Well, most of the time, anyway, and when her workload does get a little top heavy, she can count on her fellow musicians Suzu and Fuuri for a little stabilizing influence.

SoniAni: Super Sonico the Animation is a music, slice of life anime co-created by Nitroplus (the creators of Super Sonico) and White Fox (the creators of the anime); the anime has 12 episodes and aired between January and March 2014.

It is important to note that SoniAni: Super Sonico the Animation was designed as a marketing tool for Nitroplus to sell Super Sonico brand to people. Each episode we see a new day of Sonico’s life; she gets into different situations and different trials. It is an open secret that all slice-of-life shows don’t have a complex story;yet, it helps you to relax; that is read more

What do you usually get out of something that is inherently a marketing ploy, for an animation studio no less, for an anime? For the vast majority of people, they don’t really think of it that much and just go with the flow while they’re getting suckered into the gimmick. Not that there’s anything wrong with that at all. When the marketing has something to show for it with lots of fun creativity mixed in to make the experience worthwhile to go through, it can be conceived as quality entertainment for the masses. Now take most of those qualities away that make the show quality read more

This is the first time I've written a review on MAL, but I feel the need to because I think all people see when they look at this anime is Super Sonico and all that she and her merchandise implies and automatically discard it. While I can't really blame them for that because the merchandise implies a lot, I gave it a chance and was pleasantly surprised. While it's no masterpiece, the fanservice was mild, the characters outside of Sonico were actually interesting and engaging, the soundtrack was excellent, and overall it was enjoyable to watch.

---Story 7/10---
The anime was fairly episodic, and it didn't read more

When Super Sonico the Animation was on-air I didn't watch it because I though that the only thing it was going to talk about were, obvioulsy: boobs. And of course, the boobs are an important part of the anime, but now that I have watched it I realize that the anime talks about more interesting things (if possible). Leaving apart that Super Sonico is the most f*cking cute and polite girl in the world (which, from my point of view, it's the most atractive thing of the anime) she works as a model and she is not a super skinny girl like the 99.9% main read more

Both are musical moe shows about cute girls, however Sonico has a little more ecchi.Nonetheless both shows are adorable and have their funny and heartwarming moments.

Both series are slice of life/ music anime

Both shows have the same kind of air about them, thus giving you the same kind of feeling when watching them both

Although different by music genre (metal/pop rock), both are about music band consisting of three members and relationship between those members and people around. Both are comedies.

Super Sonico claims to be about music while Rail Wars! claims to be about trains, yet both forget what they're supposed to be about and instead focus on mundane bullshit and tits. Both shows only give the viewer small scenes about music or trains every now and then.
reportRecommended by Kondo-Isao
Both anime involve modelling / cosplaying and the main characters, (Aya and Sonico) have almost the same looks. Both anime includes certain events that would lead the female leads to embarassing moments, often involving a large crowd and ridiculous outfits. Both are somewhat plotless and mostly focus on fanservice.
