Synopsis

In this modern magic action story, Takeshi Nanase is an ordinary high school boy who has a somewhat dark past. Due to certain circumstances, he formed a "fake" couple with his childhood friend Kurumi Isoshima, but otherwise, he lives a normal life. However, one day, he comes across a girl named Mui Aiba, in a uniform he has never seen before, collapsed on the school campus. This encounters changes Takeshi's destiny completely. Mui tells Takeshi that she is a magician, and she apologizes, for she turned Takeshi into a magician, too. What Takeshi once knew as one world is actually two—the world where magicians live and the world where humans live.

The magical warfare. Where to begin? Its an epic tale of conflict with shounen ideals and stride. Its an enthralling tale that captivates the hearts of casual watchers like myself. And did it? No.

- Story -
When it comes to having a plot, the anime nails it for having a premise. But is there an actual plot? Not particularly. The first half of the anime is devoted to introducing the protagonists and hinting that Takkeshi might just be a super powerful magician by the end. The second half kept me on the edge of my seat because, well, it was so rushed that even read more

Overall: 4. When a serie is rushed to the end, or is interrupted, its a bad sign.

Story: There is war, and there is magic. Quite common, but it's alright. It's hard to see some original work. The plot was not developed as it should be.

Art: so-so. Not great, not bad.

Sound: The background music fails to dictate the feeling. Not that the plot helped.

Character: the character development is too much predictable. Too much.

Well, not a great adaptation of the manga. If it was serialized, then the manga should not be such a disappointment.

What I enjoyed the most is a fight that happens in the middle. Really read more

The phrase of "Dont judge book by its covers" is really true. When we all seeing the short explanation by this anime, we're gonna imagining something great, magnificent, epic battles and stunning art. But in the end it was all just an illusion. Illusion that been made by this anime, summary we're being deceived.

Mahou Sensou or Magical Warfare is anime that technically is about action and magic like the genre has said and thats it. If we're talking about plot, it hasnt. Well, at the first you would introduce that the world has two side world, first it was human world and the other one read more

Okay..where do I start. This is an anime done by Madhouse, so my expectations were quite high, since I've seen most of their other works, but oh God was I dissapointed.

Story: 3 (poor)
First of all I think that this is my major problem with the anime. For starters the whole magical stuff is quite chiche, but that is not my real problem here. The real issue is that the plotline is really quite predictable and it lacks development.
Overall the story is predictable and full of cliches used all over the place.

Art: 5 (mediocre)
The art for the anime is quite good, as expected of Madhouse, read more

Recommendations

In both anime MC leaves his world to join a magic high school due to a girl magician appearing. Both have great music, similiar character designs, similiar genres.
Both protagonist happens to bump into a girl, and without knowing much about them decided to help them. They soon travel and help protect the girl without much decision.

Both anime involves fighting and magical weapons/power, both girls use guns while the male protagonist uses a sword. If you enjoy magical fighting than you'll like these both.
Similar powers and theme are presented in both series. Main character from both series have the power to see into the future. Their eyes glow too. MC friend in both series can use fire magic. The Red World is very similar to "The Ruined World". Only people who have special abilities can enter these worlds/dimensions.
This anime is similar to F/SN even in the desing of Saber(Kurumi) and Gilgamesh (Ida). They are about a magic war.
Both protagonists got powers randomly and a female sidekick from nowhere. Both protagonists share a harem and are very similar in personality. There are similar characters, but different plots.
-both are unsatisfied with current world
-both get transported into magical worlds
-both have a determined-to-beat-you antagonist
-cool fight scenes
both of them can get cliche/over dramatic

Opening Theme

"Senkou no Prisoner (閃光のPRISONER)" by Yuuka Nanri

Ending Theme

"Born to be" by nano (ナノ)
