In the midst of a killing spree, one thing always comes to mind...business business business and nothing will stand in the way of those who would see their ripe fruits harvested. 'Black Lagoon' brings you deep into a world of corruption where the mightiest on top of the food chain stands to oppress those beneath them. The series showcase a man who was pulled into this pandemonium and forced to live his life in a depress filthy state and along the way, a dangerous woman shows herself with undisputed gun skills and the intent to kill without hesitation. Together with a few others, a team is formed to carry out daily trades and businesses which could turn sour if the slightest thing goes wrong. There are some excellent music that rhymes well with the direction of the show plus the dark horrid animations will keep the suspense going till the end of time. 'Jormungand' focuses more on mercenary dealings and trades in a world where money dominates all. Along the journey, a young boy is dragged into the mess and strives to survive day in day out by working together with a team of mercenaries whose female leader seeks to establish deals in order to fulfill her undying goal. Corruption in this area is portrayed in a much cleaner manner where a rich life away from these dark corners is a good life. In terms of animation, it is represented quite nicely with great scenes and musics that will keep viewers wanting for more. read more 

Strong Female Characters with the protagonist acting as the mind.both feature an skilled team getting involved in some awesome fights throughout the story with Guns,Blades and Blood 

Guns, mercinaries, arms dealers, cursing, swearing, booze, and lots of action and great stories and characters. Both series show the darker side of the world. Shows why some people should not be messed with ever. Wether it be Koko and her mercinarie or the Lagoon Company you do not want to mess with either of them.  

Non-Japanese setting, favoring the eastern hemisphere. Gunfights and generally crazy action with some strong female leads. Engrish OP. 

Both anime deal with gun fights in deferent parts of the word, Both has to do with mafias If you liked black lagoon you'll simply love jormungand !!!

The whole generally feel is quite like black lagoon. they are both more realistic animes, meaning no fantasy or super powers they both have the similar theme of working in shady businesses they both have great gun fighting and action they are both darker toned anime 

Both have a similar premise of a group of people delivering goods while trying to fight off their competitors, lots of gun fights and OTT action.

Both series shares the same feeling, crude humor, violence, and crime! The actions and fighting scenes in both are amazing - full of entertaining movements and suspense! 

The atmosphere and themes of these 2 shows are very similar. If you are looking for an anime to fill the void left behind after binge watching Jormungand, Black Lagoon is your answer. For me, the most enjoyable aspect of Jormungand is its action. A bunch of highly competent mercenaries executing their missions by way of their sheer combat ability. In Black Lagoon you will find similar action, but I feel Jormungand has the better combat scenes because it is more tactical and show cases a greater variety of combat roles. Another plus point for Black Lagoon is that if you liked the competent, badass female characters in Jormungand, there is no shortage of them in Black Lagoon. Overall, both shows deal with the issues of "war" and combat; what it is like to live a life of strife, what life is like for those who kill for a living and the cross they all have to bear as a consequence. In short, they are both dark, cynical shows dealing with the violence in human societies. Finally, if you are a person who values closure; note that unlike Jormungand, Black Lagoon is not a completed story. Still, I highly recommend you give Black Lagoon a shot if you love Jormungand's action and characters  read more 

Has the same background as black lagoon an organization that is working for the underworld but can never be touched by anybody. Most of the characters have dark pasts just like Jormungand and is trying to make a difference 

This is another black lagoon! Guns,skilled fighters,awesome music,same art,style,setting.Everything *_* Main chick in lagoon is a tough killer who does not give crap about anothers to much. In this one she is leader with a skilled team,And alot more playful. 

Yes, this is being recommended again. Why? Because both of these series are just that damn awesome. Black Lagoon and Jormungand are both series involving a lot of drama, action, and some comedy involving a crew of badass characters. The lead female character in both series are skilled with a gun as well as other forms of combat. Both series also has a main male protagonist who gets involved with the crew but also has skills of his own. Both series has a lot of violence that is presented in the way that is suited for more mature audiences. Both series contains a lot of gun action so expect blood being spilled. read more

Both are action packed, gun loving, claymore detonating, shotgun firing, artillery striking fun about a band of underworld dealers trying to get by in a violent world full of dangerous clients. 

Guns/Action for both Both are very fast paced Appealing chicks and good quality animation in both They both have their own seriousness to them But, generally they are just the same type of anime 

both anime have the same atmosphere revolving around a group of criminals. they are both dark in their own way , although jormungand is based more around the real world then black lagoon .  

both are bristling with guns and full of over the top action, whats not to love? both also have some interesting characters, although the characters in black lagoon tend to be a little bit more colorful, while those in Jormungand are a little less so (Koko being the notable exception) 

Bloody, gritty, badass, and still able to entertain. The anime doesn't take itself too seriously and it's fun to watch. The storytelling is fantastic and the way the episodes are structured keeps it from getting boring or repetitive. The characters' interactions are great to watch as well.

Well, well, well, now what do we have here? If any of you just happen to be craving for guns, guns and more guns, well then these two take the cake. And when there's guns, you can almost certainly bet that there will be plenty of deaths and lots of explosions, KABOOM! In any case, if you happen to be craving for something full of fist-pumping action with loads of cussing that can even topple some of the ones coming out of America in recent years, and have just finished watching either of the two, then rest assured that they've gotcha' covered! Both have really entertaining gunplay, settings that take place (There is a few exceptions.) out of Japan and really great character development for the main cast. Although the supporting cast can be a little weak, but if you liked one of these, you'll like the other, I guarantee it. Seinen Stuff... Mafia, Politics, War if you like serious, somehow "realistic" anime, you gotta watch it. 

Both anime deal with arms dealing and a group of mercenaries. While Jormungand has a more diverse cast that gets fairly equal development, Black Lagoon has a short cast of four where the main focus is placed on the leads Rock and Revy. Black Lagoon emphasizes its focus on the fights the lagoon group goes through whereas Jormungand would rather place attention on the distribution of the weapons themselves. All in all, if you've seen one then I 10/10 recommend the other. 

Guns and badass women. Both great to watch if you're hungry for action-packed gun fights and amazing OSTs. 

If you just like a lot of shooting and the hardware. Stories are good in both. 

Both series: - heavily rely on the usage of guns. -have a lot of gun-based combat. 

Both series are very similar. We learn about an organization through a new character. In both series, characters are members of hired guns (in Black Lagoon, smugglers and in Jormungand, mercenaries for arms dealer). Both have a very similar pace. Both use light humor to relieve tension in dramatic scenes. Both series also have a more realistic take on underworld society (well except for teenage mercenary on par with ex SAS military). 

Both follow a group involved with the criminal underworld with a the female protagonist performing as a foil for the main character. The other members of the groups also aid in the main characters growth throughout the story. The main characters also tend to question their ideals or have them questioned by others.

These two shows are really similar. I got the same feel from watching Jormundgand, as I got from watching Black Lagoon back in the day. They share similar plot and setting, when a crew of triggerhappy "badasses" delwe into the underworld of chaotic, lawless, societies. They share a heavy focus on the comeradery in the group and most of the characters are fleshed out and get a fair amount of attention each in both shows. Overall the tone and feeling of the shows are similar, and if you enjoyed one of them, chances are high that you would enjoy the other! Sadly Jormungand does not include crazy, killer, incesteous, vampire twins... But that's an acceptable shortcoming, as Koko Hekmatyar, the leader of Jormungands group of badasses, is extremely entertaining to watch. read more 

Both have similar dark tones that revolve around illegal activities.  

Jormungand and Black Lagoon are two somewhat well known shows for their involvement with modern armament and darker humor. The show's stories themselves are practically sub-plots for the emphasis on the weapons they use during the show. They stay very accurate to the guns that they are using in whatever situation down to the gun's manufacturer and such. Black Lagoon was initially a 12 episode series animated by Madhouse in 2006; the show saw a second season, also being 12 episodes, and a few specials as well as an OVA series. Jormungand was also a 12 episode series, animated by White Fox in 2012; the show as well saw a 12 episode second season. The two shows are definitely similar in terms of art styles as well, again trying to put as much emphasis on the weapons as possible. The two shows have far more similarities than differences. So if you happen to be a fan of either or just happen to be a gun nut I would recommend either.  read more

Black Lagoon and Jormungand are well made, fast-paced stories about people doing money on smuggling, selling arms and killing. Episodes are full of action centered around main characters making full use of their guns. While Black Lagoon is free from realism, done half joking half serious, jormungand is usually dead serious (for an anime) sticking to actual rules existing in the world, showing quite realistic warfare and arms world market. Both series are a must-watch action movies fans.

Black Lagoon and Jormugand share a lot of similarities.In both anime we find a lot of guns ,shooting and killing,dominant female characters and dark background stories .  

They are similar with perceptions of the criminal life in a different lighting and have a similar plot of one of the main characters influencing the other main into accepting their new reality  

If you love guns/anime with a lot of guns, love kick ass female leads, semicrazy people and a lot of deep, deconstruction storyline, then you got what you came for! Both have to do with some form of weapon delivery, multiple kick ass females, extremely overly buff guys/gals, someone that just straight up looks like the black sheep in the pack, and people screwing over the government. Gotta love that. 

The general feel and tone of both shows are similar, and if you've seen either of them and not the other I feel you're missing out on more of that shoot out, underworld action you probably enjoyed. The biggest difference between the two shows is the contrast in the protagonists, but both are likeable for their own reasons, only Jonah is alot less useless. If you enjoyed delving into the characters backstories from Black Lagoon, then you'll get more of this in Jormungand. TL:DR Similarities: - Same tone. - Similar artstyle. - Shootouts *Bang Bang*. - Good backstory for supporting cast. Differences: - Constrasting Protagonists. -Jormungand has more comedy elements to it.

If you enjoyed Black Lagoon and its 2nd season then naturally the best series to continue that action would be Jormungand (world snake), this series like Black Lagoon is all about mercenaries and particularly focuses on the story of a child soldier and an arms dealer, enjoy. 

If Black lagoon was good you would get Jormungand. I know it is made by the same people but somehow it's more interesting... 

These anime are like brothers - both are fantastic gun anime and each have their own pros and cons. Revi and Koko are both awesome female leads, as are Jonah and Rock as male leads - Dutch is even comparable to badass war veteran Lem in many ways. It's really hard to pick between these two, honestly, as they're both full of action, great characters and lots of fun 

Need a action and gun fix after watching Black Lagoon? Jormungand has got you cover. Over the top action, great story lines. It's honestly the perfect anime to follow up after watching Black Lagoon.

First things first. It is really hard to find any anime that is similar to black lagoon. Your best closest bet, is going to be Jormungand. The intense action and language used in Black Lagoon is not something that can be remade again, it simply won't be popular in today's world. Back in the day, content in black lagoon were just more well appreciated. --- Black lagoon has action unlike any other anime. Really. The action in black lagoon is dirty. It's not shounen style actions at all, not even close. It's chaotic and darker. More importantly, fun and exciting! There is no powerups, the main characters have plot armor to the extent of just being kept alive for the show, but they are not invincible. Specially in the psychologically trauma that they have. In that sense, the action of black lagoon is very unique. You will thoroughly enjoy the action and the psychology bits sprinkled in between will give you some form of attachment to the characters like Rock, Revy, Balalaika, the twins, etc. Though not all the characters are just trauma ragdolls. Many are just nasty characters. The thrill and action in black lagoon is a must watch! --- Jormungand is similiar to black lagoon, only in the action. But i still mean it, that the closet resemblance to black lagoon in anime you'll find is in Jormungand. Jormungand has it's own unique aspects. The female lead is koko and is she is, loco. That was a joke, it's an ost in the anime. Well you will enjoy Jormungand too, the male lead is a desensitized young boy from a wartown region who follows koko's loco antics. Koko's entire team grows to like the boy, they raise him like a wild cub. Teaching him to prey on enemies. Just following along the boy's journey with koko is worthwhile to watch besides the packed action.  read more 

Very similar anime where the MC is recruited by a group of gangsters who work together. Both have strong female protagonists and plenty of action. Neither shy's away from showing hardcore fight scenes and blood. Jormungand has a bigger and more well-developed cast as compared to Black Lagoon If you love anime high on action with badass characters, you'll love both of them :) 

Both deal with the theme of mercenaries and the black market ruled by the criminal underworld. Both have very intense action mixed with quite dark comedy. Both have well written characters, that are complex and have realistic motivations, that make you imensely connect with each and every character. Jormungand unfortunetly steers a little bit more into fan service teritory then Black Lagoon but both are equally great series. 

Adrenaline pumping violence with some interesting perspectives on war and conflict, and the occasional comedy. 

Guerrilla warfare, militaristic, lots of morals in question

Their both action shows that have a similar gritty tone, they both deal with the criminal underworld and both have a lot of gun action. 

What can I say? Both are about arms dealings and mercenary groups. They have similar atmosphere not only with the plots, but also animation and art direction.  

Both have a darker feel with heavy levels of gunfire. Both also have a strong psychotic female lead role alongside a gang of mercenaries. 

Black Lagoon and Jormungand. A perfect recommendation. Why? Because these shows are very similar. Both anime are based on manga published in Monthly Sunday GX, but there’s a whole lot more similarities. The tone is the exact same, the art styles are very similar, and both revolve around the criminal underworld. However, Black Lagoon is more over the top and Jormungand has a bit more comedy. Both anime are really good, and they should be watched as soon as possible. 

Similar criminal underworld setting. Difference being one series follows a Guns for Hire service whereas the other follows a Weapons Dealer. In both series the cast take on various requests and do their best to fulfil them, occasionally these requests show a darker side to humanity and the characters' morals are called into question. 

Mercenary,arms dealer,hot babes,what else ya want? 

The protagonists in both series find themselves trying to find a balance between right and wrong. Both series follow crews filled with members who have dark and detailed pasts. Additionally, both crews consist of highly trained mercenaries who deal their business underground or "behind closed doors". 

Lots of bullets ALSO THICC WAIFUS USING GUNS that's important  

Led by a woman with some loose screws, a small band of mercenaries make their living by completing illicit jobs that often come with their fair share of gunfights along the way. There's bullets, car chases, boat fights, money, and explosions to be found in both of these anime. 

Both shows are dark, rely heavily on gunfire, and feature a crew of incredible mercenaries. The difference in Jormungand is the unique partnership between arms dealer Koko Hekmatyar and the child soldier name Jonathan Mar 

If you like military, gang, arm dealing and conspiracies. Jormungand and Black Lagoon are quite similar. P.S badass women alert!!!  

Black Lagoon is very similar to Jormungand. Aside from them both having a similar episode set-up, they are both realistic seinen anime while still being over the top (Jormungand is less over the top than Black Lagoon) with a ton of gunfights. The art style and some characters are very similar as well. If you want a dark and serous anime with guns, watch these two anime! 

Guns and Girls and... More guns... 

The theme of girls with guns comes into play in both of these series as well as superpower. With loaded action, battle OST, and drama mixed in with comedy, both of these anime(s) are something to keep an eye on.

if you like this show then you must watch this one. both are actions, and mc's white haired, guns everywhere, and tough character. 

Both have white haired female protagonists, both contain a character raised to kill since they were children, both share a team of rag tag "heroes", both have a lot of action and some politics, and both give an interesting (or at least interesting take) message/idea. The only difference between these two is that Canaan came first. I recommend these both. 

While not essentially sharing the same premise or featuring characters with supernatural abilities in Jormungand, I find both of these series somewhat similar. Jormungand and Unlimited both takes place in a world where there is crime, discrimination, and where those who have power are the rulers of their worlds. Both series features a group where viewers gets to see their every day lives and what they do. From most of the episodes, their work is often dangerous and puts their lives at risk especially the main protagonist. I also find the main protagonists from both series similar in a few ways: Both series' main protagonist has a sarcastic personality, often confident, cunning, and plans ahead, and has similar colored hair. They lead their group on dangerous tasks that requires teamwork, effort, and coordination to ensure success. Both series also features plenty of action, drama, and bits of comedy along with emotional moments. The main male protagonist from both series (Kyousuke and Jonah) also has darker pasts. read more 

A white-haired person living on a boat is a BIG-TIME CRIMINAL. They each are backed by a "family" of sorts that travels everywhere with them, and who are ALSO CRIMINALS. And everyone SHOOTS GUNS and LOOKS COOL while their leader SMILES DEVIOUSLY. Also, they have a kid on board who's technically part of the team and undeniably the main character's side kick, but whom the whole team is very protective over. 

They are quite similar, except for the pyshic in ZKC. I'd say watch both ^^ 

When watching Zettai Karen Children: The Unlimited, I felt constantly reminded of Jormungand. The main protagonists, Koko and Kyousuke, are very similar in their looks and their personalities. They both are charismatic and enigmatic, gathering other people around them. While The Unlimited is about people with special abilities (espers) fighting for their rights in the underground, Jormungand is about a mafia-like arms dealers. However, both criminal organizations and their leaders Kyousuke and Koko dream of a better world. Jormungand has a more mature cast of characters and a more serious setting, while The Unlimited has, while still being dark, an overarching storyline, more lighthearted moments and in my opinion more likeable characters. I believe that if you enjoyed one of the two, you'll enjoy the other as well. read more 

If you like action mixed in with drama and a darker atmosphere behind the scenes, then both these series might be something to keep an eye on. Both the main female protagonist in these two series are strong, independent, and also has a sense of dark humor. (less so in Phantom Requiem). Then, there's action involving guns and violence with blood being spilled. Both series has a memorable soundtrack and also delivers violence in a way that will not easily be forgotten, in a glorious way. 

If you enjoyed one of these you would most likely enjoy the other. They're both realistic and have lots of gunfights. 

While both series are almost completely different on their story's focus, both shows are about military-esque organizations who carry out missions. While Phantom focuses on Zwei trying to break away from his forced life of being a cold blooded assassin, Jormungand focuses on Koko's "adventures" of being a weapons dealer. Many of the fights in both series involve guns and military knives. Though Phantom has a more serious feel to it than Jormungand, since in Jormungand there's a good amount of humor at times while in Phantom there is not.  

Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom and Jormungand both have a ton of gunfights and a dark tone. Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom focuses on assassination, while Jormungand focuses on arms dealing. Jonah and Zwei are both really damn good at killing as well. Jormungand has a bit more humor than Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom, but the feeling of both anime are very similar. 

Both series contain the use of weaponry in conflicts. Both series' characters shows skills in the art of using guns and contain violence but also mixed in with drama, action, and comedy. Both series' music and soundtrack are also distinctive. 

If you like action with a side of comedy, then you'll love Jormungand. It's main genre is action but the flecks of comedy makes these two animes enjoyable.  

Dogs: Bullets & Carnage and Jormungand might have very different storylines, but the style of both anime are very similar. Expect a lot of gunfights and a good storyline that's mostly episodic. Badou is somewhat similar to Koko as well in personality. Have fun watching! 

Integra (Hellsing) and Koko (Jormungand) are the charismatic and ruthless leaders of paramilitary organizations who dedicate themselves to their mission. Jonah (Jormungand) and Seras (Hellsing) are new members joining the organizations and are introduced to this world of violence. Hellsing and Jormungand are filled with action scenes and deaths. 

- Both Koko and Integra are strong-willed women who lead their respective teams of really powerful people. As such, both have a strong female lead. - Both anime are really similar as both Hellsing and HCLI take on rival groups in action-packed, bloody and intense battles to the death. - Both have a dark theme throughout but also consist of some chill, comedic scenes. They also have just the right amount of fanservice - In both the anime, the story starts with the main group recruiting a character and training them (Seras and Jonathan), who later become very relevant to the plot, helping out the main group a lot. - Both anime have powerful villains and backstabbing. The characters have their own internal struggle which we are introduced to as the plot starts to take shape. Very similar anime, highly recommend you watch both of them read more 

Both are episodic series with lots of gun play that focus on a ragtag band of colorful personalities. Both are science-fiction series that maintain a mostly realistic and grounded tone, and both series have a child as part of the main cast whose perspectives serve as contrast to the rest of their team. 

Cowboy Bebop and Jormungand, while they don't have a similar setting or storyline, have the same air of realism. Both anime begin episodic, but bigger storylines later appear near the end. Both have really good fights involving guns as well. Check them both out! 

Amazing combat scenes, gunfights and badass characters 

Both have a similar vibe and theme. They are both dark and serious with a touch of humor here and there. They are really interesting. Both have themes of mafia and crime.  

Both anime follow a young protagonist with combat capabilities, Jormungand following a modern child soldier while Vinland Saga follows a teenage viking. The deuteragonists of both stories also have some similar character traits such as being cunning and in charge of a military force. Also it should be mentioned that the name Jormungand comes from a Norse mythology which many of the characters from Vinland Saga believe in. 

Children who have only known the battlefield begin to question if there is more to life than just fighting and death, and if they are worthy of a more peaceful existence after the crimes that they have committed. 

I can't really put my finger on it, but I just thought both of them were so incredibly fun and exciting, they both just have very good action and very fun and interesting characters, and I think the general tone in both of them feels kinda similar. Jormungand is slightly more serious and action heavy while Baccano! is a little lighter and a little more comedic but both of them still have very good very serious moments and very good slightly less serious moments and also very good weirdly cute moments. Of course, all of this could also be said about many other anime and as I've already said it's hard for me to put my finger on what made me enjoy these two anime in such a similar way, but I did, and if you really liked one of them a lot then I would 100% reccomend the other. read more 

If you lover baccanon you will love this show 

'Jormungand' is about a boy who hates weapons and anyone who sells them, but he still works for a young female arms dealer. 'Youjo Senki' is about a young female child soldier in a war-torn country. How in the world could these series be similar? First off, they both deal with war and killing, with dynamic action scenes. Both include child soldiers, as well as, manipulation. The female lead of 'Youjo Senki' shares similarities with both the female and male lead of 'Jormungand,' as she is a child soldier, but is also a crazy, manipulative badass. The artwork on both series is exceptional. On the other hand, 'Youjo Senki' is set in an alternate universe that uses magic, with an extreme focus on the war aspect of the plot, as well as, the main character's actions and feelings. While 'Jormungad' is set in more modern times with more of a focus on the characters actions and the violence that comes with the arms trade. read more 

I gave both of these shows a 10/10 and atm they are the only two shows in the entire world of anime that have that in common, so yeah that's a pretty big and completely unique similarity IMO. Other than that they are both very action-heavy anime, they both follow an elite squad doing their jobs and the jobs themselves are also kinda similar, they both have a badass female main character, this character is also the leader of the squad and she is very respected by all members in both anime, they both have a pretty similar pacing as both series are divided into stand alone episodes and smaller arcs that last a few episodes. Jormungand is a little cuter and funnier and slightly more episodic while SAC is more serious and has a longer and more impactful story, SAC also has some philosophical stuff while Jormungand doesn't although I didn't really care much for it in SAC, it's not really like it made me think about anything. Also if you've watched SAC and you haven't watched Jormungand then I'd just want to say PLEASE WATCH IT DUBBED, the Jormungand dub is IMO insanely much better than the sub, I've watched both and they changed a fair bit of the dialogue and the tone in the dub, and I think it's much better, Koko's voice is also much better in the dub. I also watched SAC dubbed and obviously thought it was amazing but from what I've seen the sub also seems very very good.  read more 

Both stories have children gun master. They are both show the opposition of child's innocence and assassins instinct required for their survival. Both are good stories, full of action. Both lead to reflection about youth. Gunslinger girls is slower paced story.  

Both series contain a strong female protagonist who is independent and has her morals. Both series has action involving the military, use of technology, and creating social and political conflicts between various factions. Both series has a mixture drama, comedy, action, but also tense moments that are touching and memorable.  

Both series are psychological thrillers involving guns, bombs and addressing the dark side of the world. the main characters in both shows are strong, organized & work in order to achieve a goal. & in both you'll get the sense of camaraderie, the position of the weak and how a helping hand can come in many different ways. Absolutely recommended!
