You know you don't have to necro a post from 8 years ago to tell someone off right?

yah even a lot of the big bands don't stop in milwaukee very often. but atrocity solution is from wisconsin u should check them out if you like choking victim.

yeah i live in the tri-state area so i usually get to see their home for the holidays shows every year. they always have great lineups.

yeah i love leftover crack as well. trio is great, seen them many times great live band. i need to try out bane and fildar some more, i saw bane open for the bouncing souls once and they sound way better live imo.

don't mention it man i love talking music. i like a pretty wide variety of punk. old school stuff, ska, crust, alternative stuff, etc. favorite bands are one man army, choking victim, misfits, against me, no cash, operation ivy, antischism, dead to me, alkaline trio, nirvana, etc. the only japanese band i've listened to a lot is balzac, they're very influenced by the misfits but have a more melodic sound imo.

if you like hardcore punk i'd reccomend these bands (you'll probably know some already but just in case)
witch hunt

Thank you!

I haven't found anything that knocked Lain from my own favourites, so I don't know how much help I'll be. Let me think...

Definitely check out some more of Satoshi Kon's movies. Perfect Blue does a similar thing to SEL (and also the film Shutter Island, which is why a screenshot from it was in the banner!) in that there are two conflicting interpretations of the events occurring and it's never entirely clear as to which of the two it actually is. His editing style is also fantastic. Sennen Joyuu (Millennium Actress) is another film of his that's worth checking out.

If you want another story which makes great use of anachronism, then you might love Baccano! It's essentially an anime version of Pulp Fiction, but set in prohibition-era America. The English dub of that one is surprisingly good.

Apart from that, I'd also recommend Kaiba. Kaiba has this extremely over-the-top, hyper-deformed art style, but that's just its way of trying to hide how insanely dark its subject matter is. It's a great series, but you might want to watch it in small chunks and pad it out with something a little less morbid.
It’s time to ditch the text file.
