But how well do they do it?

It's not terrible, but it's not unique much at all. I think it's a true slice of life with some fan service, and it's too early to tell if it will develop into anything special,

But it's an okay anime; if you love romantic comedies, it might be worth a shot.

Anger, confusion, and pity.

Those were the dominant feelings I experienced while watching this anime.

First of all, this has one of the toughest-to-watch first episodes of the season, and not in a good way.

Imagine this: Rumi and Naori are twins, and Rumi has a crush on someone. Not just a simple crush like "yeah, I kinda like him," but a deep, intense love for Jun. Rumi sees him as perfect for her, so perfect that she feels jealous when her twin gets close to him. She feels exiled, but one day, she mans up—or womans up—and decides to confess her love to her crush. He's ... a bit taken aback, sure, but he accepts her love. After spending time together, his love for her keeps growing, and eventually, he loves her just as much as she loves him. They do lovey-dovey couple things, they hug and kiss. At this point, a normal anime couple would keep this relationship going, eventually marrying. But nope, the girl suddenly says, "yeah, man, we should break up." And this situation isn't made any better by providing a decent reason—she doesn't even provide one. Her reason for breaking up with him is, "it's not because of you, it's just me." Wh-what the fuck? What kind of fcking reasoning is that? I'm surprised Jun didn't have a mental breakdown on the spot. And you know what makes it worse? Rumi actually says, "I want you to date my sister." Not only does she break up with him for a very dumb reason, but she also forces him to date her sister. And by forced, I'm not exaggerating here; she indeed forces him to confess his love to her sister, basically saying, "hey, why haven't you made a move with my sister yet? Don't make our breakup worthless." And Jun actually does that eventually. He confesses his love to Naori and they date. Later, we find out that Rumi broke up with Jun because she felt bad and "cheated" on her sister. It's important to note that Rumi won fair and square here. She confessed her love and initiated it first. Sure, she wasn't the closest one to Jun, but they did date, and Jun did love her. Unlike Naori, who never confessed her love to Jun but rather waited for Jun to confess to her, despite the fact that they were very close and had similar interests. And it's not like Rumi's confession had ill intent behind it; she confessed her love to Jun because she LOVES him, not to spite her sister or anything.

And if you think it's just me that thinks this is stupid and I'm taking it too seriously, no. In the show, Rumi's friend also thinks her decision is stupid:

"You love him and still dumped him? That makes no sense."
"I guess Jinguji Rumi's just plain old stupid."

And Rumi agrees; she knows it's fcking stupid because she still loves Jun. These twins treat Jun like he's a plot device and an emotional fleshlight. This romance anime is one of those rare occasions where I care more about the MC than the heroines. Usually, nobody gives a shit about a romance anime MC. If they're shit like Kazuya, people want him to drop dead. If they're kind and not dense like Rentarou, people praise them. But no, this dude is trying his best to tame two fcking time bombs.

Also worth mentioning, nobody talks like a normal human in this show except Rumi. Rumi actually feels like a normal human being. It seems like in every conversation, they have to reference some other piece of media.

"Bla bla bla The Shining, bla bla Star Trek, bla bla American machine, bla bla Black Dahlia, bla bla fcking Norwegian Woods, so lewd isn't it?"

Sometimes the references make sense, but sometimes they just mention them for the sake of mentioning them, as if the creator wants to tell us, "HEY LOOK HERE, I FCKING WATCH MEDIA THAT IS TOTALLY NOT OVERRATED AND KNOWN BY MILLIONS OF PEOPLE." And you might argue they act like that because they're otaku, but there's a character named Toyoshige. He's Jun's friend and an otaku as well. He also references some other media, but he talks about it in a very joking manner. He doesn't reference it out of nowhere; it actually makes sense and, most importantly, he doesn't do it all the time. And if you say, "maybe he's not as bad as Jun and Naori," no, he's worse than both of them. Toyoshige is very vulgar and even into p*rn. He has a crush on Naori, and his reason? She's pretty and has big tits. Funny how the most vulgar character is actually the most acceptable character in this anime.

At this point, rather than finding the one who's more likable, you're trying to find the one who's least unlikable.

Negative points aside, now let's talk about the good things about this anime.

The animation is solid. It's beautifully drawn by today's standards. While it's obviously overshadowed by other anime this season, it still holds its place.

The opening song is catchy, and the opening animation is so cheerful that it might trick you into thinking this anime has a lot of lighthearted and comedic moments.

The interaction of the characters is actually great when they're not doing the forced drama. The lovey-dovey scenes are adorable, and its subtle romance is very cute. Moments like them just sleeping next to each other or suddenly hugging actually make you say, "awwww."

The character designs are very good. The anime makes sure that you see Jun as an attractive and smart person and the twins as very cute girls despite their mildly unlikable personalities. On one side, you have Rumi, a short-haired tomboy, and on the other, Naori, a cheerful girl with a voluptuous body.

Overall, this anime belongs to the "F*ck you, I'll see you next week" type. You have many reasons to hate it, but you just can't and will always find yourself wanting more. It's not surprising if this anime gets a rating under 7 and might be dropped after one episode by several people, but if you're into teenage dramas, you're probably going to love it.
