As you can see in my list, I mostly give high scores. That's because I watch anime to enjoy, not to be critical.
But yeah, there are just some shows that I didn't enjoy much, thus giving it a low score. I love fantasy, and I hate that the isekai genre is not explored to its full potential, most of it are just copy-paste self-insert power-fantasy stories. >:( My Anilist acc: https://anilist.co/user/bakedmonogatari/ (Anilist is better than MAL imo) I just send friend requests to random people when I see their profile and just feel like sending one lol. I also check the affinity stuff. Wish I could go back to the times when I enjoyed almost every single anime I watched :/ ..That's why back then I gave a lot of shows that aren't that good a 7, 8, or even 9. The lowest I usually could give something is a 6 or 5 (shorts and music aside), that's if I really disliked it. Even some of my tags/comments on the shows on my list are outdated. (Don't expect some kind of "expert" review from me lol. The stuff here is more personal than objective) 1. Monogatari series (this is as a whole and not just the 2nd season) - I watched this show when I was pretty much new on watching anime, and when I saw this, it was a completely odd and different experience from anything I've seen, so it definitely sticked to me as a show. It is also my first anime series that was quite long. And as I continued this long series, I just got attached to the characters because of their own stories, character dynamics, and philosophies which were definitely memorable. The jokes don't land sometimes because it's Japanese, but I just laugh because of how ridiculous it is lol. This show is very memorable to me and I feel very nostalgic every time I listen to it's OSTs. It kinda brings me back to the days I just started watching anime where everything was a wonder. If you're wondering how I felt about the loli and incest scenes then my answer is I wasn't really put off by it. Because as I said, I was new on watching anime when I saw this show and I've never really thought of anime characters the same way I view real people, especially when I was new. Also, when I got into anime I was immediately introduced to some degenerate stuff lol, so my past self wasn't even aware that people found this stuff as an issue since I was a bit egocentric and thought that "If I think this is okay since it's just animation then other people will also just see this the same way as me". That resulted in me getting pissed on people who hated the series for those reasons (things are different now though lol, it's understandable why other people get put-off). Bottom line, I mostly like it since I got really attached to the cast of characters and the uniqueness the show has. 2. Made in Abyss - The reason is pretty simple... I LOVE FANTASY. Especially fantasy shows with adventure. This show has GOOD MUSIC, animation, art, voice-acting, and mystery. I also liked the characters, especially Nanachi, they're really cute. Oh yeah, the world-building too, I LOVED IT. I loved that they explained the different kinds of creatures and their ecosystems. The dark scenes added a bit of realism to the abyss imo, so I liked that element of the show (I still cried though lol). 3. Attack on Titan - I don't even need to explain. My reasoning is pretty much similar to the stuff other people praise this show for lol. 4. March Comes in Like a Lion - This is one of those shows that I said on the beginning of my profile that I give a high score because I just really liked it. It's in my favorites because of how I felt about it, which means it really left a big impression on me. Also, the OSTs in this show just made me feel stuff lol. Like, I never skip the OPs and EDs. Each time I watch an episode, the OPs and EDs just gain more meaning and emotion behind them. I also liked the animation and direction of this show, it just added to the feeling and emotions (thanks Shaft). So yeah, this show made me emotional (not cry but it brings out diff emotions from me) at times but also felt really comfy when Rei is at the sisters' place. There's also some other stuff that I can't really put into words. 5. Death Note - It was just really entertaining. I watched this show because it was on Netflix, and the next thing I know is that I couldn't stop watching it due to being intrigued on what will happen next. Also, this show just has a lot of stuff that could be deeply discussed, like the characters, philosophies, imagery, and symbolisms. 6. Re:Zero - Now, I'm a bit biased toward this show because it's my first anime (technically). It was just really enjoyable and memorable for me. I liked the characters, the mysteries, concept, OSTs, and the characters' developments (especially Subaru). This show is the reason why I started liking the concept of isekai and just fantasy overall. I was also really hyped when season 2 was airing, I was wishing every week to go by faster lol. 7. Mushoku Tensei - The reason is pretty obvious by now... FANTASY AND ADVENTURE. The OSTs, art, and animation just added to the immersion, making me feel like I was in the world itself. I also liked the character drama and growth in this show. But unlike Monogatari, the stuff Rudy does in the show made me a bit uncomfortable, probably because it felt more realistic because of my immersion to the show. But later on I just got kinda used to him being a perv and just shrug it off. Although in part 2 his character developed a bit and I liked that, seeing him becoming a better person and all. 8. Steins;Gate - I just liked it lol. It was a very enjoyable and memorable show to me. The stuff that was happening in it was very intriguing and suspenseful. The characters were likeable IMO, especially Mayuri, she was very cute. I also loved the opening song, I liked the vibe of it. 9. A Silent Voice - This made me ugly cry lol. The music and animation was just perfect. This show just makes me emotional every time I watch it, especially the ending scene. 10. Fate/Zero - Just Fate (ufotable) in general was such an enjoyable watch for me. The fight scenes were just really hype and the OPs were bangers. The characters were definitely memorable to me too. And that's it. If you disagree with my opinions then that's on you, not on me lol. Just like what you like, while I like what I like. Also, sorry for the abundance of "lol", I use it as a substitute for a laughing emoji when there isn't lol. |
