If you're looking for something pretty funny, that has angels and demons in it, than either one of these two could be for you. Ackman is an one episode long OVA with some nice, dark humor and it's mostly about the title character annoying an angel, who constantly tries to kill him. And who always accidently ends up killing innocent people in his attempts to beat the main-character. Gabriel Dropout meanwhile is a full 12 episode series, that's a lot more lighter with its comedy and leans a lot more on the "Cute Girls doing Cute Things" part of the show. But it still has a group of angels and demons, all with their unique personalities in different, funny situations, only here the comedy is more based on the characters personalities.

Flying Witch
|
If someone ever moves into a new town for the first time, then both of these could be of interest to them. Especially since they're both anime, that deal with a girl main-character moving into a new town, having a more relaxed Slice-of-Life tone and being more coming of age stories. Flying Witch, as the name implies, is a series about a witch moving to the country to her family, to learn more about becoming a good witch. Each episode has it's own stories that range from fantastic to mundane and it never really gets dramatic or anything like that. Making it just a fun watch about a girl in the countryside with some magical elements. Animal Crossing meanwhile is a movie and just like the game it's based on, it follows a human girl living in a town filled with animals. It's a bit more childish in tone, but also has a bit more adventure and drama in it, plus much stronger coming of age themes as well as themes of following your dreams. Plus, it uses a lot of music, characters and places from the game.

If you want to see OVAs that were (mostly) made by 1 person, that have Sci-Fi elements and star a male and a female character, then either one of these might catch your interest. "Hoshi no Koe/Voices of a Distant Star" is a Makoto Shinkai project and is much more of a romance and drama. It mostly focuses on two peoples connection, even though they are both lightyears away from each other. It has quite a bit of CG and mech action in it. Cencoroll meanwhile was made by the original mangas author. It focuses on teenagers using monsters to fight each other and focuses more on that concept, with a few fights, without using any CG. Plus it is a bit slower and doesn't have any really emotional moments in it. And it also spawned a sequel, continuing the story.

Konohana Kitan

Their biggest similarity is, that they're both about girls in bathhouses, that take care of spirits and other otherworldly beings. Plus they both a have themes of growing and becoming a better person. And they both have beautiful animation. "Spirited Away" is a movie and the protagonist is a girl, who suddenly finds herself stuck in this world. The movie is more about coming of age and Chihiro growing up. Plus it does have that memorable Ghibli style. "Konohana Kitan" meanwhile deals is a series and while it has a constant theme of our main-character growing more as a person (or foxgirl), many of the episodes take advantage of the setting and deal with death and the likes. Plus it has strong Yuri themes with two main-couples.

If you're looking for anime about being a server in a restaurant, both of these anime do have you covered. The only real similarities between these two is, taht they're both about new servers working in restaurants with whacky characters. Working!! is a longer anime, going for 3 seasons and a short movie, as well as a spinoff series. This animes biggest focus are all of the different, quirky main-characters and how the two main-couples in it develop and get closer over the course of the entire series. Piace meanwhile focuses on a girl, that works in an italien restaurant and doesn't know any of the food. So it's a bit more also about learning about the different dishes and italien cuisine and the likes. Plus, it's a lot shorter than Working!!

If you need a short reason to fall in love with anime and animation again, then I can recommend these two. Their biggest similarities are, that they're rather short, have some rather nice music and that they celebrate their respective thing. The Daicon Opening Animations are two short OVAs...that are just giant celebrations of anime and animation and everything related to that. Especially the second one just is filled with love for the medium and with so many references. Plus, if you're into oldschool animation, then this one is definitely something you have to check out. Gotcha! is more of a music video...but one, that celebrates the Pokemon franchise, from the first generations from way back to the games on the Switch and everything between those two. Add an amazing song, some pretty good modern animation and just a love for the franchise coming from every frame and you have a pretty amazing music video.

If you are curious about how beautiful and unique short anime can really be, then these two are exactly the thing that you're looking for. Be it for different reasons. Puparia is a little shorter, but it has a lot of breathtaking visuals and a unique atmosphere, that manages to be both beautiful...and yet creepy at the same time. And at least one of the visuals in it will stick in your mind for a long while. Wonder is longer and a lot more abstract, plus it was done by one person in a single year. It feels a lot more playful, with cheery music in the background, while the movie is playing around with the animation to create much more abstract visuals than Puparia.

These are manga involving characters using creative and different inventions, with a new one getting introduced almost every chapter, though there are occasionally chapters that focus on other things. What they do it for is, where both the series are different. Doraemon focuses a lot more on going on adventures, using these inventions to get back at bullies or to just create creative scenarios with them. The humor is more child-friendly too. Plus, the gadgets are all from the future. Ueno-san meanwhile focuses on a girl in todays world inventing downright absurd things to get an oblivious boy to finally fall in love with her and it constantly backfiring on her, due to his oblivioness or her making a mistake. The humor is a lot more crude too, as it focuses on her getting into very embarassing situations because of her backfired plans.

Sewayaki Kitsune no Senko-san

Both of these anime are relaxing Slice-of-Life shows, that have some supernatural spin to it. In Senko-san, this mostly comes from the fox girls, who pamper the protagonist and take his stress of of him. Though it's mostly realistic, the fox girls are in every episode. Unlike the 1st season, Amanchu Advance adds a supernatural and magical element to the diving one (though it's most strong in one specific arc). Outside of that and 1-2 other episodes, the rest of them are grounded in reality.

Both of these shows are similar in the way, in that they focus on Cute Girls making videogames and the protagonists learn how to improve their skills as an artist. Though New Game follows a big videogame studio making a game and it was the protagonists dream to join the company. Stella no Mahou focuses on a small club of highschool girls making doujinshi games and the protagonist in this joined the club more by chance.

Danchigai

Both of these are shows about the everyday lives of families consisting of sisters who are living together and they are both less than 5 minutes long. Miyakawa focuses on just two sisters, who are pretty poor. It is a spinoff of Lucky Star, so it has a similar feeling and artstyle and the amount of cute or funny moments. Plus, there are background cameos of the main characters. Both sisters play an important role, though it's more focused on the younger, more serious sister. Danchigai meanwhile is centered around a boy living with 4 sisters, all with a distinct and unique personality and it's more centered around that and how he's their punching bag, which is somewhat of a focus of the comedy. But it still has enough moments of the five being a family. that it's still a cute and fun watch.

Both shows look like "Cute girls doing cute things" at first, but they're actually a lot more complex than what the genre usually has. Both of them have a unique atmosphere, that's also different from each other. And they also have some emotional last episodes. Girls Last Tour is a lot slower and feels more isolated, due to the two girls being the only characters in this wasteland, rarely coming across someone else. It discusses many themes of giving yourself up to despair, why people waste ressources on creating weapons to fight each other among others. There isn't much drama in many episodes, which helps in creating it's empty atmosphere. And small things like rain become fascinating in that progress. School-Live is a lot more horror related, being in the middle of a zombie apocalypse, though it also has a lot more cute girl things. Those do help in both relaxing the atmosphere after some of the more intense and scarier moments, but they also help keeping it up, as you always feel like these girls could be overrun any second now. And it definitely has a lot more emotional and tear jerker episodes.

If you're looking for cute shorts with animals as protagonists, then either one is something for you. Both of these are very cute little shorts, where animals are the main-characters, with a hamster in Baja and birds in Inko Colors. Plus, both of these are about friendship too. Baja is a bit longer, has some neat little fantasy elements in it and it has a lot of amazing and incredible KyoAni animation and can be watched just for that alone. Inko Colors is much more simpler, but it does feel a little more grounded than Baja and for what it is, the animation looks pretty nice too.

Both of them are 1 hour long movies, following a same sex couple through different points in their relationship and all of the different struggles they need to overcome. Dookyuusei follows the relationship of two boys from the beginning, where Asagao to Kase-san follows two girls, who are already in one. Dookyusei has more interesting and destinct directing and animation, where Asagao to Kase-san feels a lot more like a conventional movie. But both are definetly worth checking out.

Both of these shows are parodies of the idol genre, which feature non-human characters as the idol. While Sekkou Boys is about a group of statues trying to become idols, Miss Monochrome focuses on an emotionless robtot trying to be one, but misunderstanding a lot of things or being amazing at everything...except being an idol. Both are meant to be more funny and they both have pretty great and catchy music.

There are some similar things between both shows, but the most obvious one is, they're both coming of age stories, that are told in a somewhat more...weird way with lots of symbolism and a more episodic structure, before everything comes together in the end. Though FLCL focuses more on themes of sexuality and maturity, while Flip Flappers is much more about the growing up part, as well as trying to find out, what you want to do in your future. Also FLCL takes place in a relativ normal city, where just a bunch of giant robots and aliens start to appear, while Flip Flappers plays in different worlds, all with different and unique styles and stories to tell.

They are shows focusing on humans taking care of small creatures, that are meant to be more cute. PriPri Chii-Chan!! is more about the cute and funny situations both the girl and the creatures have, as well as all the different characters with distinct personalities that they meet. "How to keep a Mummy" meanwhile takes a better look at it's group of human characters and creatures. It's a lot more grounded and tries to take a look, at what these creatures would eat/do/what kind of abilities or personalities they have and more. Plus, it does have a little more drama with each of the main human characters.

They are both shows, that are about a boy and all the different Yo-Kai that he meets, while having a more comedic, Slice-of-Life tone. Yo-Kai Watch has a style more similar to Pokemon and other shows like that and runs for three segments per episode. Kiitaro is much shorter, but the Yo-Kai feel more "realistic" than in Yo-Kai Watch and it feels more like a Slice-of-Life show.
