essentially, as you know, in csm, a devil's strength is determined by how much fear it displays. thats why stuff like the fish devil or sea cucumber devil(real things) are killed easily. Obviously SOME ppl in the world might be scared of those stuff, but we as humans have an op ability called OVER COMING. you can get over fears, eventually, like insects or stuff like that. However. theres one thing that like, no one will NEVER get over with. the unknown. In general, people are scared of the dark not because they are alone, because they are scared that they are NOT alone. Like horror videos in forests and all that. you're just waiting for that moment that the scary ghost girl pops up. in a nutshell, you dont know whats in the dark. thats why its displayed throughout history in horror videos or games, its a STAPLE subject; the dark. everyone here is scared of the dark, not like just beign alone in pitch black woods or anything, but because YOU DONT KNOW WHAT'S GONNA APPEAR. YOU REALLY DONT(sounds edgy but overlook it)
when the chad of all devils came along, when it entered, there were dismembered bodies of astronauts that were piled on the floor, all of them having their hands in a praying form. this can be assumed that they are praying to a god, likewise, in this case, THE DARKNESS DEVIL. to add on, what do astronauts do? they do the scariest job in the world; explore space. a cold, empty, limitless void of unknown. theres so much shit out there, that we absolutely know nothing about, except basic stuff like knowing that there are universes aside from our own. there ARE aliens out there; are u really thinking that we on a literal atom compared to the multiverse that the only living stuff is on earth? anyways, space is extremely scary, though for kids it sounds cool. we dont know what we'll meet out there, and we wont know whats behind us. this is what makes the darkness devil so op, because we will NEVER, be not scared of the unknown.
Abasically at the end of reze arc, denji really wanted reze. even though she legit tried to kill him, he still wants her. he is literally willing to abandon EVERYTHING he has, the relationship with his practical younger sister and older brother, to run off with reze. reze decides to leave without him. while she runs off, denji screams that he’ll be waiting at the cafe, the spot they first met. he doesnt get a response. even so, without even knowing she’ll be there, denji decides to wait. pov pans to reze, whos about to get on the bus to her freedom, until she turns back. she is also willing to throw away what she has to be with denji, as she really likes him. she really wants to be with him, and vice versa. however, right when shes gonna enter the cafe store, which denji is literally just praying she’ll come, THE MAK STEPS IN AND ASSASSINATES HER ASS TO INTENTIONALLY DESTROY DENJIS LIFE and denji continues to stay there waiting, waiting, until the door finally open. but its just power and denji, realizing reze decides to not come back and just leave, depressingly gives up and moves on. rezes assassination js again, one reason most ppl hate the makima
