Sorry for the delay, i'm reading manga now (Ragna Crimson).
What made me read at first was the art style, they have this commom but at same time unique style right? And the relationship that start to growing between these 2 was such intriguing.
I must confess that i was a little nervous to recommend this to you bc i've see that you are a little strict with what you read (in a good way, ofc) but following the style of some webtoons that you've read i think that would suit your taste hahaha.
I'd love discuss some other mangas or other things <3
If you enjoyed shows like Love Chunnibiyo and Lucky Star, shows with similarly goofy characters and slow pacing, I think you should give this another shot. I've discussed this show with other people and it seems to be misinterpreted a lot. I can elaborate on a few aspects of the show if you want me to give examples.
As for Serial Experiments Lain, that show is a hard commitment. I had to pause, rewind, and stop in between episodes just to digest the information thrown at me, and even then I still don't fully understand it, but I get it enough to where I know it is:
1: A warning about the future of the internet. This show is basically telling us how reality can easily be ditched for the boundless possibilities the internet provides.
2: Somehow, a show depicting a sweet friendship.
I love the show so much to where I do want you to rewatch it, but it might be frustrating not knowing the meaning of some scenes. I'm completely okay with not understanding everything here, but if you don't like a show that has seemingly meaningless sequences, I wouldn't recommend you to rewatch it.
Junji Ito is not a horror writer like the others. With how incredibly terrifying his stories are, one would think he is a disturbed and strange guy, but the truth is that he is an adorable and really charismatic mangaka who, even with his stories, manages to separate his work from his attitude and shows great humility every time. he is seen on camera.
