I started watching anime while being fully aware of what anime was back in 2004 thanks to a channel called Buzz which only broadcasted anime during the daytime and hentai at night . My parents had subscribed to a Spanish broadband called ONO that provided numerous TV channels, including that one. Back then, the only ways were either having internet (which I didn't), VHS tapes, or TV channels.
The first anime (not counting anime broadcasted in mainstream TV) that I remember watching were, in this order: Tenjou Tenge, Gantz and Basilisk. These will always hold a special place for me, and laid the foundations of my current taste.
The first manga I remember reading was Renai Junkie (chapter 10) because it was included in a Spanish adult magazine from back then called Interviú, lol. From that point on, Oh! great's works since he was the one who made Tenjou Tenge.
Though I still use MyAnimeList for forums and as a backup, I have for the most part swapped platforms to AniList because I prefer their decimal (0.0) scoring system better and how notes are displayed.
I sync both websites using MAL-Sync. It does not work with notes yet, and I'm too lazy to copy paste one by one, so they can only be found on my AniList profile for now.
I also don't make reviews. I got a very few well written ones, but for the most part you will find brief and silly notes meant for a quick glance to recall my impressions, for both myself and my friends.
My scores are based on the 5 classical aspects (story, characters, visuals, etc...) being enjoyment the one with the most significant weight, though some titles may be completely biased by nostalgia (such as my first anime), but for the most part, I try to be as objective as possible.
Score System:
⠀#⠀
⠀Description⠀
⠀10,0⠀
⠀An absolute and transcendental masterpiece. Exemplary watch/read in every single one of the aspects.⠀
⠀9,9 - 9,5⠀
⠀An unequivocal masterpiece but with some minor imperfections preventing it from perfection.
⠀9,4 - 8,0⠀
⠀An overall great watch/read, but this time with some notorious flaws that can't be turned a blind eye.
⠀7,9 - 6,6⠀
⠀Good/Solid/Satisfying from a viewing experience standpoint, though it's not necessarily exceptional.
⠀6,5 - 5,1⠀
⠀Fair/Decent/Passable watch/read. Fulfills its purpose adequately, though I'd suggest something else.
⠀5,0 - 4,0⠀
⠀Average watch/read. Falls in middle ground. Neither decent nor bad. Meets the already low expectations.
⠀3,9 - 2,5⠀
⠀Bad. Disappointing. Significant flaws that hinder the overall enjoyment. A forgettable watch/read.
⠀2,4 - 1,1⠀
⠀Mediocre. What you can expect from the average seasonal budget garbage full of archetypes and clichés.
⠀1,0 - 0,2⠀
⠀An abysmally bad watch/read. Appalling. Terrible in every single aspect. A severe misuse of brain cells.
⠀0,1⠀
⠀A waste of human resources. A piece of shit. Range reserved for the turds that I genuinely fucking detest.⠀
Some more acclarations: Yes, I consider mediocrity something worse than being bad. I'd much rather watch a "bad" anime in its own way than a repetitive and clichéd title that falls into mediocrity.
When I'm unsure about what to score and just in the very rare occasions where I felt it's worth the effort, I use this pedantic spreadsheet I made a while ago to get an accurate idea.
Doujinshi & hentai got it's own lists, and for those I stick to the numeric (1-10) score system.
Only Rule: To nerf Naruto and Gintama, each anime is limited to just 1 OP!
1. Monster:
2. Dragon Ball Z (Castilian Spanish) - OP 1:
3. Hunter X Hunter (1999) - OP 2:
4. Shingeki no Kyojin - OP 2:
5. Tokyo Ghoul - OP 1:
6. Elfen Lied:
(Only first 30 seconds because of the fucking YouTube age restriction...)
