Hey! Thanks for visiting my profile. If you have any suggestions of anime/manga for me you can always comment/message me them and I'll gladly give them a shot. Other than that feel free to give any critiques of my profile/scores; all I ask is that you be respectful... I know, a very difficult task for MAL users. You can click on the spoilers below to see more about me and what I do if you want. Once again thanks for coming over to my profile! This section of my profile is just all the more important information I feel that is critical for you to understand me as a person in general and where my ideals lie. If you, for some reason, wanted to know more about me you can always click on the "Detailed Info" spoiler which, as the name suggests, gives you a bit more detail on what I do and things I enjoy. Note: All the top 5's you're about to read aren't necessarily in any order, so just keep that in mind. My 5 Favorite Things: * 1. Computer Software/Computer Hardware/Electrical Engineering 2. Aviation 3. Language Learning 4. 2A 5. Content Creation *This list doesn't include things that can be implied like music, anime, manga, gaming, breathing, ect. My 5 Favorite Genres: 1. Comedy - Who doesn't like a good laugh? Comedy is almost always a must in a great show and I think well done comedy can be a large deciding factor in how I rate an anime. 2. Romance - A well done romance can leave an impact on you and I think that is was what this genre was made to do. Unfortunately many romances fail at doing this with shallow characters and a lacking plot. Though, the ones that make a meaningful/emotional story, that isn't forced, deserve credit and those shows are what put this genre so high for me. 3. Game - I think this genre is, in most cases, pretty unique and that's why it's one of my favorites. I believe what everyone looks for in a show is uniqueness and the game genre has a lot of that. I love how intricate some animes can get when they are in this genre and whenever I see this tag I'm interested to see what unique ideas the show will present. 4. Action - I really have a love-hate relationship with the action genre. Sometimes you get intense, intriguing, unpredictable, and beautifully animated anime and other times you get the anime with OP MC that turns boring really quick and had nothing to support it's plot other than: "Hey, look at this guy destroy some people." It's really a hit or miss with this genre. 5. Psychological - The psychological genre is thrilling and really makes you put yourself in the position of the protagonist. When a psychological anime is done right these things shine bright and make for an intriguing story. However when psychological shows fail they are often boring and miss the key reasons why I love to watch psychological anime. Luckily there are a lot of good psychological anime out there that over power the minute group of bad anime in this genre. (As far as I've seen). My 5 Anime Commandments: 1. Thou Shall Never Rate An Anime Just To Appease The Masses - This is, like most of these "commandments," pretty self-explanatory: I will always give an honest rating on an anime even if it seems that everyone else hates it or loves it. It think this is pretty basic, but just putting this here for a reminder to not be a sheep. 2. Thou Shall Not Drop An Anime - No matter how boring, no matter how lacking in characters or plot, no matter how excruciatingly long, I will always finish an anime if I start it. Honestly I have no solid reasoning behind this, I guess I just wanna give all animes a fair chance. I swear I'm not a masochist. 3. Thou Shall Never Prioritize Anime Above RL - Yeah, pretty much I'll never put anime above school, work, or family/friends. It's pretty simple, there is more important things than anime, sadly, and I can't just throw those things away. 4. Thou Shall Not Go Into An Anime With Any Outstanding Preconceived Notions - Of course I can look at the tags and the mean score of the anime before I decide if I wanna watch it, but I'll never watch an anime with any predetermined likeness or hatred to said anime. 5. Thou Shall Prioritize Entertainment Highly - Now, I always look at other things like plot, characters and their development, and uniqueness of an anime and these things make an anime enjoyable. However, I truly believe anime was made for people to enjoy so I heavily look at if I actually enjoyed watching an anime and if I was intrigued or if the anime was dull and I was pulling teeth while sitting through it. (More on this in my "Scoring Criteria" section). Oh wow, you actually clicked the detailed section of my profile. You either really wanna know more about me or you missclicked. Either way, in this section of my profile you can click on the spoilers below to see the more specific things about me. Now ikik I'm not that special and most people probably don't care, but this section is not only about me, but I do link a bunch of YouTubers, music, and some games and one may catch your interest. Currently learning French, Japanese, Polish, and Arabic. Well "learning" might be a strong word for the last two, but below I'll explain why, how, and what I know in all of the aforementioned languages. Currently Learning: French: Language Proficiency - B2 -> Upper intermediate Been Learning For - Actively -> 1 year ; Overall -> 2 years Known Words - Learned On Duolingo -> 2151 ; Overall 4,100~ Reason For Learning - Very wide-spread outside the US, I love French YouTubers (NohAcro, Oery and A6D are some of my favorites), and I just wanted an "easier" language to learn. It's been fun and hopefully one day I'll be fluent! Japanese: Language Proficiency - A2 -> Way stage or elementary Been Learning For - Actively -> 1 month ; Overall -> 10 months Known Words - Learned On Duolingo -> 574 ; Overall 1000~ Reason For Learning - Started learning Japanese before watching anime since the language and culture really interested me. Since then I've started watching anime and that's just another plus. Also Being able to talk to 100M+ more people would be cool so that's why I'm working hard at learning Japanese! On Hold: Polish: Language Proficiency - A2 -> Way stage or elementary Been Learning For - Actively -> 3 months ; Overall -> 1 years Known Words - Learned On Duolingo -> 533 ; Overall 1,000~ Reason For Learning - A lot of family speak this and it's probably my favorite Slovak language because of how it sounds and that the letters are easy to understand (meaning: when combined, how they change and sound different). Hawaiian: Language Proficiency - A1 -> Beginner Been Learning For - Actively -> 1 month ; Overall -> 6 months Known Words - Learned On Duolingo -> 560 ; Overall 560~ Reason For Learning - I've been to Hawaii and wanted to learn an indigenous language so I picked this one. I'll pick it up when I either go back to Hawaii or am Fluent in French/near fluent in Japanese. Plan To Learn: Arabic: Language Proficiency - N/A Been Learning For - Actively -> 1 week ; Overall -> 1 week Known Words - Learned On Duolingo -> 21 ; Overall 25~ ; Mastered the Arabic alphabet Reason For Wanting to Learn - I know people that speak it, it's very popular as a language, and I wanted to learn a language that looked so impossible to learn with it's alphabet at least. Dropped: Spanish: Language Proficiency - B1 -> Intermediate Been Learning For - Actively -> 0 ; Overall -> 5 years Known Words - Learned On Duolingo -> 0 ; Overall 3,600~ Reason For Dropping - School made this language boring and honestly it was a drag to keep learning it after the terrible learning habits they teach you in school. I use Duolingo, Anki Flashcards, HiNative (forums pretty much), LingoDeer (Duolingo knockoff), and Kanji Tree (for Japanese ofc) for learning all of my languages. I'm most often on Duolingo so feel free to add me there using the image below. (Click on the images below to bring you to the labeled playlist) Japanese Playlist "Normal" Playlist French Playlist These are some of my favorite YouTube channels (not including political ones for obvious reasons) you can click on the images to bring yourself to their channel if you seem interested by them. Xiaomanyc 小马在纽约 Fluent Chinese speaker, does unique and interesting things with language, culture, and travel. Gigguk You don't know Gigguk? Look at the picture below and you'll get the idea. Does a lot of interesting things pertaining to anime. Active Self Protection The do's and do not's when it comes to firearm safety and self protection. Ranging from law enforcement shootings to private citizen protection to much more, this is an amazing channel with a multitude of knowledgeable evidence based videos about shooting breakdowns. Sometimes I don't always agree with the opinion of the host, but it's good to get some different perspectives. Sora The Troll Genuinely hilarious with stupid-fun banter and skits. Also does have some good serious moments too. Bladed Angel ITASHA!!! 74 Gear Anything and everything about aviation from a real 747 pilot with a wide range of topics featured on this channel. ColeLangs Amusing, informative, and underground; ColeLangs is one of my favorite YouTubers in the language learning community and I'd highly recommend him, along with others, if you want to learn a new language. [10] Masterpiece: Now, of course nothing is perfect, however, anime of this caliber have ‘perfectly’ crafted/developed stories, characters, subplots, and meaning. These anime are something more than just simple entertainment and may have had actual impacts on my way of thinking. [9] Exceptional: These shows are incredible in nearly every way. I can easily consider these shows as my favorites. Even though these shows likely have issues, objectively, they are nearly completely nullified by things like the amazing pacing, characters, narrative, and overall plot presented throughout the show. [8] Excellent: Are these shows flawed? Sure. Are they for everyone? No. Were they an absolute joy to watch, through and through? Absolutely. These shows, whilst not perfect, were really fun to watch and had a well-developed storyline and intricate characters. [7] Good: All and all, a great experience that was worth my time. Even though there are some flaws, none were substantial enough to ruin the experience and the show definitely was never a drag to watch and kept me engaged and interested throughout. [6] Fine: May have had some really good ideas or themes, but they just didn’t fully meet their potential. While the good outweighs the bad, the show could have been executed better. Likely kept me engaged and didn’t bore me, however there likely were parts that could have been handled better to make for a better experience. [5] Okay: These shows are completely average… these shows could have scored higher with better-developed characters, plotlines, and more time and effort put into making an interesting show. Sure they might have possibly had a good idea or intriguing characters, but they missed the mark on execution and had many easily detectable flaws. Didn’t stand out… [4] Bad: These shows are simply below average. Not fun to watch, but also not completely awful either. Likely was a bore to watch because of their lackluster plot, characters, and or execution. Definitely not for me and definitely had many-objective problems. [3] Awful: These shows were a drag to watch. With a multitude of problems, any good of this show could be easily overlooked because of the bad. Likely had shallow characters, a lacking plot, and/or no real rhyme or reason to many of the decisions made through the show. Not worth watching… [2] Atrocious: A complete waste of time. Likely hard to watch because of the overwhelming amount of problems with everything from the unfulfilling plot to its shallow characters this show had much more problems than anything that anyone could objectively say was ‘good’. Very little, if any, redeeming qualities and a dreadful experience. [1] Appalling: Just no. Never watch this. Save yourself. No redeeming qualities. A literal spit in the face to anyone watching. An insult to anyone that appreciates anime. The only thing that can be said about the characters, plot, and overall enjoyment of the show is that it was all abominable. Watching this makes me want to- Score Distribution Related to profile ofc ;) 248246 386765 |
