I.G are doing it, airs next April IIRC.

Official release date means "it's guaranteed you can find the book in any stores on the day." Books, magazines, CDs, and DVDs are often found one~three days before the release date in some stores (called フラゲ flying-get).

Ooo that clears thing up. So these numbers are based off a few day's sales? FMA's popularity really is more awesome than the storyline itself

Hold on. How can an FMA manga that was released on 22 Nov get ranked on a list for manga sales from 15 - 21 Nov? If you're talking about pre-release sales then that's some serious popularity. Otherwise it's apparent that someone's using alchemy to fiddle with something ...
