The DVD and Blu-ray of Evangelion: 2.22 You Can (Not) Advance was released on May 26th. 350,000 copies of the DVD and 450,000 copies of the Blu-ray have been shipped. It's highly likely that Evangelion 2.22 Blu-ray will surpass the record of Michael Jackson's "This Is It" Blu-ray (261,000 copies). Akiba Blog reported that Eva 2.22 has already been sold out in the DVD shops in Akihabara before the official release date.

Yeah the Eva 2.22 sales are going to be ridiculous... 1.11 was already pretty amazing considering it was mostly recap... and I can only see more momentum gaining for the third and fourth movies.

The next movies will be a long wait, but that's only going to add to the anticipation.... the effort expended making these films is so monumental it's almost as epic as the fictional eva projects themselves.
