Visual Novel 'Needy Girl Overdose' Gets TV Anime in Spring 2026

Production company Aniplex opened an official website for a television anime adaptation of Xemono's Needy Girl Overdose visual novel, revealing production staff, announcement promo, and a key visual (pictured). The anime series will air in April 2026.

Created by Xemono and developed by WSS Playground, the management simulation game was initially released on Steam for Microsoft Windows and macOS in January 2022, and later on Nintendo Switch in October that year. Alliance Art Inc. released the game on PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation 5 on January 21. Needy Girl Overdose has over 3 million downloads across all platforms.

The Internet Overdose theme song for the game was released in April 2021, and the Internet Yamero sequel song was released in March 2022.

Synopsis
Needy Streamer Overload is a "multi-ending adventure" depicting daily life with "OMGkawaiiAngel-chan," a young girl with a rather extreme need for approval attempting to become the #1 "Internet Angel" (streamer). Gradually build up OMGkawaiiAngel-chan's number of followers as she spends her days streaming, using various "stress relievers," and generally being kinda messed up. Experience all the different crazy ups and downs and find out for yourself whether this story is even capable of having a happy ending. (Source: WSS Playground)

Wonder what direction they're even gonna go with this adaptation, this game doesn't feel like it'd translate well into any other medium (though it did get a manga adaptation... wonder how that was executed). Not sure I have very high hopes for this project but maybe it'll be something cool.

@Piromysl It's not a shock collar, it's for opening gates. And it doesn't shock either, just vibrates. And even if it's a shock collar, the prongs was removed and covered with tape as well. Also, if u didn't believe this, then u are going against all of my political ideals as well.

Was gonna make a joke and express surprise (at the announcement)/a bit of jealousy maybe (cuz this looks better than certain other games I've played that got adapted later *cough cough* Ace Attorney *cough* TWEWY)... but instead I woke up earlier to see the first comment being another Hasan meme 😭😭

I certainly didn't expect this to get an anime. I watched a streamer play through it back in 2022 and it doesn't look like something that would easy to adapt into an anime, so it will be interesting to see how they do it

arent there like around 30 endings? I never played, but i wonder if the anime's story will just be heavily inspired by the game if all 30 endings are somewhat relevant

If thats the case, i fear for the pacing, bcuz Arknights suffered a similar issue when adapted by Yostar

Huge announcement for a game I’ve been into. Apparently, the creator, Nyalra, was removed from the project despite being deeply involved from the start, but the staff said they devoted themselves to recreating exactly what was in his mind.
I really hope he gets fully compensated and that things get resolved fairly. Also hope the anime keeps the same vibes they promised and doesn’t get censored, though I kinda doubt it.
