The 25th and final episode of the second season of Tsuki ga Michibiku Isekai Douchuu (Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy) television anime ended with a third season announcement on Monday. The official website revealed a commemorative visual (pictured above).

The first season, produced by C2C, aired for 12 episodes in Summer 2021. The second season was produced by J.C.Staff and aired for 25 episodes. Crunchyroll streamed the anime with subtitles and english dub as it aired in Japan.

Tsuki ga Michibiku Isekai Douchuu, also known as Tsukimichi, adapts Kei Azumi's adventure fantasy novel, which they originally penned on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website from February 2012 to August 2016, and concurrently switched it to AlphaPolis in July 2016. The latter began publishing the series in May 2013 with illustrations by Mitsuaki Matsumoto and released the 19th volume in December 2023. Tsukimichi has a cumulative 3.6 million copies of its volumes in print.

Kotora Kino began drawing a manga adaptation in AlphaPolis Web Manga magazine in June 2015. The 13th shipped last December.

Hanashi Media licensed the light novels for an English release and released the first volume on March 30. The manga adaptation is also released in English through the Alpha Manga app.

I'm a huge fan of Tsukimichi, and I've been reading the manga and web novel consistently one I found out the series existed back when S1 ep 1 dropped, so I say this as a fan: why in the lords name is this of all things getting a third season? I'm excited for sure, but I am astounded that this series is getting adapted so readily when it is so middle of the road and not remotely as popular as other canceled series. This feels a bit like a happy accident, but thankfully we are getting spoiled with 3 adapted seasons so I can't complain.

But one cour, like S1 or two cour, like S2?

That's the question.

Let's fucking go. I just got the notification early. I'm surprised S3 immediately got announced. YES

Oh that's cool. I didn't watch the second season yet, but I'll check it soon.

@IzanaSolos and I fail to see how it's relevant to that series? They aren't even ownerd by the same publisher. Kodansha have Vinland saga while it's Alphapolis who have Tsukimichi.

See you after 2 years or later

Yet Vinland Saga has yet to have gotten a third season... okay.
