'Orient' Announces Additional Cast
The official website for the television anime adaptation of Shinobu Ohtaka's Orient announced on Wednesday three additional cast members. The first two episodes will premiere at a pre-screening event on December 12 with the regular broadcast beginning in January 2022.

Shirou Inukai: Hiro Shimono (Kimetsu no Yaiba)
Nanao Inusaka: Azumi Waki (Tokyo Revengers)
Hideo Kosameda: Wataru Hatano (Fairy Tail)
Tetsuya Yanagisawa (High School DxD) is directing the series at A.C.G.T. with Mariko Kunisawa (Honzuki no Gekokujou) in charge of series composition. Takahiro Kishida (Durarara!!) is handling character design and Hideyuki Fukasawa (Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works) is composing the music.
Ohtaka began publishing the manga in Weekly Shounen Magazine in May 2018. Kodansha shipped the 13th volume on August 6. Kodansha USA licensed the manga digitally in English in April 2020 and released the 11th volume in April this year. The physical edition of the 5th volume was released on October 5.

The earliest textual references to Japan are in Chinese classic texts. Within the official Chinese dynastic Twenty-Four Histories, Japan is mentioned among the so-called Dongyi 東夷 "Eastern Barbarians".
