A third anime season for B-Project was announced by the multimedia franchise's original character designer Utako Yukihiro during the B-Project Thrive Live 2020: Music Drugger stage event on Saturday. The event also revealed the first console game for the franchise titled B-Project: Ryuusei*Fantasia for Nintendo Switch.

A-1 Pictures produced the 12-episode first anime season—B-Project: Koudou*Ambitious—in Summer 2016. The second season—B-Project: Zecchou*Emotion, produced by Bandai Namco Pictures—aired for 12 episodes in Winter 2019. Crunchyroll simulcast both seasons as they aired in Japan.

Musician Takanori Nishiyama (T.M.Revolution) is the general producer for the franchise, and also had a cameo role as himself in the first season of the anime.

Record label MAGES. launched B-Project in September 2015. The franchise has inspired stage events, over 20 single and album releases, drama CDs, a manga adaptation, and a smartphone game.

Well, talk about unexpected. I'm not even sure where I am with this franchise after two seasons. Can't say it's not something to look forward to, but I'm not exactly hyped either?? We'll see.
