'Goblin Slayer' Anime Series Receives New Episode

The Hakuhodo DY Music and Pictures booth at the AnimeJapan 2019 event announced on Saturday that Kumo Kagyuu and Noboru Kannatsuki's Goblin Slayer light novel series is inspiring a new episode. The episode, titled Goblin Slayer: Goblin's Crown, will premiere in theaters in Japan. The main staff and cast members are set to reprise their roles.

SB Creative began publishing the dark fantasy novel series under its GA Bunko imprint in February 2016. The tenth volume went on sale on March 14. Kousuke Kurose launched a manga adaptation in Big Gangan magazine in May 2016, which has six compiled volumes in print as of last December.

White Fox produced a 12-episode anime adaptation in Fall 2018. Crunchyroll simulcast the show with subtitles while Funimation streamed an English dub.

Yen Press licensed both the light novel and manga adaptation in May 2016 and published the sixth light novel volume on January 22 and the fourth manga volume last November. The company is also publishing the Goblin Slayer Gaiden: Year One (Goblin Slayer Side Story: Year One) and Goblin Slayer: Brand New Day side stories.

I liked Samurai Champloo and I don't want any sequel, OVA/Movie for it because it's unnecessary.

It was never said anywhere than Goblin Slayer would have a second season. Indeed, the ending literaly said "Goblin Slayer will return", so most viewers thought about a second season but it could have been an OVA or a movie.

I read every related chapters, including Goblin Slayer Gaiden: Year One which represents the prequel. It is clearly doable to make a second season based on this part ; still they decided - for now - to go for a movie : why not !

Also, you dislike it ok. But if you take one anime you particularly liked : would you prefer another season or a single OVA/Movie ? I kinda have your answer in mind, 'cause it comes naturally. Fans simply became very happy to have a confirmation that Goblin Slayer will continue, which is in most case, another season announcement.

This news make me both happy and disappointed. Happy because GS gets a continuation earlier than expected but disappointed because it is (most likely) a movie that will be released in Japan only, as usual.

So that means we won't get to watch it ourselves for a long time, same case with Youjo Senki Movie...

I’m sure there’ll be more than this just one episode. Or so I hope.

I wasn’t the biggest fan of the tv series but it was enjoyable so I’ll definitely watch this in the hopes that this will be just as enjoyable as that of the tv series!
