Mini Anime 'Mini Toji' Announced for Winter 2019

A Nico Live for Toji no Miko franchise has announced on Saturday that short anime featuring the mini characters of the franchise will be aired. Titled Mini Toji, the anime is slated for Winter 2019. Main cast members from the anime series and cast members from the Kizamishi Issen no Tomoshibi game adaptation will be featured in this mini anime.

The franchise started with Studio Gokumi producing original TV anime series that aired for 24 episodes this winter. A cellphone game adaptation titled Toji no Miko: Kizamishi Issen no Tomoshibi was launched on March 19. A short anime to advertise the game has been released online since this February. A stage adaptation is held November 10 to 14. A manga adaptation has been serialized via Shounen Ace prior to anime adaptation last October and two compiled volumes have been released so far on May 26.

Shorts like this are cheap to make, people in Japan watch them when they air between episodes of other shows, and they help promote the gacha game. In other cases where the chibi short is a BD bonus feature, it helps make otaku feel good that they just spent a day's wages on three episodes of anime.

I've been watching the Bang Dream shorts without seeing the show or playing the game, same with the shorts of Show by Rock and Re:Zero. Cinderella Girls Gekijou also more or less counts because (like Garupa Pico) it largely stars girls from the game who aren't in the anime, and I've only seen the anime, but I think it's great.

As to whether you should watch it, do you like zero-substance cute fluff? Or, would you like a few extra completed episodes and +1 completed title in your list? ;D
