Final 'Fairy Tail' Anime Series Announced for 2018

Manga author Hiro Mashima has announced on his Twitter account on Friday that the final TV anime series of Fairy Tail will air in 2018. The manga will publish its final chapter on July 26.

Fairy Tail has been serialized in Weekly Shounen Magazine since 2006 and currently has over 60 million copies in print worldwide. The series won the 33rd Kodansha Manga Award for shounen manga and also the Japan Expo Award in 2009. It has inspired multiple anime adaptations; including a 175-episode TV series, a 102-episode sequel, two OVA series, two anime films, several spin-off manga, and a side story novel series.

Prior to becoming defunct, Del Rey Manga published the first 12 volumes of the manga in English in North America. Kodansha Comics USA resumed its publication with the 13th volume in 2011. Funimation licensed the anime for North American distribution and has been releasing the series on Blu-ray and DVD since April 2013.

I'm glad to see its ending soon, I like fairy tail but not enough to see it drag on like other shonen anime that I would be more willing to put up with. Its my friends favorite anime so he is definitely more sad to see it go then I am.

I don't want my Fairy Tail adventures to end. 😢 Is this really going to be the last of Fairy Tail? 😢 I love this series. will I see Nashi in the anime?

Just wondering from those of u who have both read the manga and watched the anime is it worth doing so? I've never read the manga and I kinda don't want to if it's go to be a waste of time?

I read the manga this ending is rubbish I didn't like the way it ended I thought there was gonna be another season after this one but I guess not and all those picture he drew about nashi was pointless *more fair tail seasons more*

In one hand, I want to see my favourite characters animated again.
In the other hand, the plot of the last arc has been a dissapointment for lot of people-me included- who read the manga.
So I will see it but only to see my favourite characters again not for the not appealing plot of the arc

Fairy Tail was one of my first anime and the only long running series (100+ episodes) that I've finished. I'm so happy (haha) that there's going to be another season!! :-)

Well finally, I was starting to lose hopes, I glad I'm able to see the cute wendy one more time, and of course the soundtrack of the serie is something that I was missing.

I hope that they will improve the shows animation and choose better animation studio than the one who did fairy tail (2014) because i prefer the animation of season one rather than the grey and darker style of animation in fairy tail(2014)

Don't know if I have to be hyped or scared. I really liked the first season but after it ended it only went downhill with the only exception being the Tartaros Arc. This final season better be good.

Woo! Yes! I'm so happy about this! I really hoped it would continue cuz even when it was said it would it was still kinda tentative but now it's legit confirmed it will so yay! All i hope is that they tell the whole story up until how the manga ends, cuz if it ends like in the middle of it without telling everything that happened in the manga like Bleach did I'm going to be disappointed! sure the mangas are great but with these shounen/action type mangas i'ts better to see the whole story animated too! Can't wait for the new season! I was missing it, I had nothing to watch! LOL
