New 'High School DxD' TV Anime Announced
During the Fantasia Bunko Big Thanksgiving 2016 event held on Saturday, it was announced that the light novel High School DxD will receive a new TV anime adaptation. More information will be announced at a later time.
Written by Ichiei Ishibumi and illustrated by Miyama-Zero, the novel began publishing under the Fujimi Fantasia Bunko in September 2008. The series currently has 22 volumes published, with the most recent one released on July 20. The novel also has a manga adaptation drawn by Hiroji Mishima, which has been serialized in Dragon Age magazine since July 2010. An anime adaptation by studio TNK premiered in Winter 2012, followed by two additional seasons by the same studio, premiering in Summer 2013 and Spring 2015, respectively.
The manga adaptation is currently licensed by Yen Press for North American release, with the most recent volume released on April of this year. FUNimation Entertainment licensed and simulcast all three seasons in North America, while Anime Limited licensed the third season for release in United Kingdom.

And don't give me grief, I CHOOSE not to read manga for aesthetic reasons. I generally prefer to see characters I love come alive on screen, hear them talking, even hear the sound effects used to enhance a punchline. Plus, reading the manga would just drive me crazy with frustration at what the anime got wrong or left out, so I avoid that.

I'm super excited for this.
I remember the author saying that he was disappointed with the third season as well, and that if he got the chance to make a 4th season happen, that he'd make sure the studio didn't repeat this mistake and it would go back to the original 2 vol. formula.
Now, since Born was basically original, idk how they're going to go about this. They could just skip straight to the 9th vol and basically erase Born, but then that's going to fuck up a lot of stuff story wise since shit would be left completely unexplained.
At the same time, it would take a good chunk of episodes to kind of continue from where Born left off, but somehow, some way, undo the damage and kind of get the story back on track.
And I honestly cant say which is the better option, skipping to vol.9, pretending Born didn't happen, and leaving that entire gap between New and S4, or trying to dedicate the starting episodes of S4 to undoing as many fuckups from Born as possible.
BorN didn't mess up as much as you think for season 4.
If they stick to volumes 9 and 10 the anime will be fine but if they start messing with it like they did with BorN then it will end badly.

It'll be a bit for enough content to make another season but no doubt!
OT: Wow, after BorN I was sure this series was gonna die even with good sales lol. I for one am glad to see another season, I honestly hope it keeps going until Ophis + Le Fay <3

is this doing anime original story or back to novel?
Given Ishibumi's comments after BorN they should be going back to novel material only

I used to enjoy the series quite a bit, but I felt that with each season it got worse. Not sure I'll even watch it at this point, mostly because I kinda moved away from the genre...
It's a pretty good stopping point for people like you who just want to see some kind of closure to the series. Well, that if they actually adapt this properly tho.

Is this a new anime? Or they will fix Born after they ruined it.
Maybe a reboot that will follow the LN event more close or just based on another of Ishibumi work.. Like Issei kids.
Had to wait for more info about it.
Born was fixed via the EX side novels that came with the DVD's as a corrupted timeline spiel. So this season will continue as if the content of BORN happened the way it should have

Interesting wonder how they gonna do it since the 3rd season was kinda botched.
They're going to pretend it wasn't since the timeline was corrected and just adapt what they would have if things had been adapted right.
So the EX novel or whatever fixed the Born timeline? ( my bad I seriously don't know)
