On February 11th Weekly Shonen Jump will publish a one off, standalone, story based off of the original Death Note manga. The 44 page short story will describe an event after the end of the original story. The story will focus on the fact that a new Kira has emerged and the events surrounding it. Watched this. I think it was pretty good even if it had no connection to the death note what so ever.

it was listed as #10 on Japan's top anime last week.

What's L change the world supposed to be about? Isn't he like...dead?
The live action movies don't follow the manga for the most part..

And why do users here seem surprised by the 3rd live action movie? It was announced like a month ago..[/quote
its about L's last 23 days of life going in accordance of how he dies in the live action film

The movie takes place BEFORE the events of the anime. It's about the case L worked on with Naomi Misora.

oh I thought it was after L takes care of Kira in live movies... L's last days...

I'll probably be getting both. I want the manga more than the live action, but I'm gonna watch it nevertheless.

Edit: What's with me starting new pages all the time today?

The one-shot sounds intriguing, but I'm not too sure about the live action =/

Bwah, I'm only halfway through the series and 2 volumes into the manga, so I can't really tell whether I'll like the movie/one-shot or not. But, if it's L, who can say no? XD

YES!!! NEW KIRA!!!!

Feb 6, 2008 3:27 PM by Kyo_Kagami

The one-shot should have been about L's past or something dealing with Watari and Whammy House. Most of L's past was way to vague, all we saw was him crying and bells ringing, also we knew he grew up in an orphanage..

Am I the only one who liked the movies? Manga and anime were worse after the light and misa were confined. The movie had a different ending, which was better than the anime or manga version. DN is just one hyped serie, which started good, but left some points midway.

Is this a fact or a rumor? :p

It looks like a filler movie to me cuz it's not in the storyline

This movie is based on the Death Note novel, taking place before the events of the manga and anime.

Wow. They are definitely milking Death Note for all that its worth.

Indeed they are. :/

They've milked it, forced it to breed, and milked all of its offspring dry. =|

I sooo agree. But will still read the manga anyway.
Why can't they make an anime movie without ruining it all with dumb live actions? I've seen the trailers and it's dumber than the previous ones. And Death Note without Light?? *Bleh* Gimme a break!!
