Successive Thefts of Anime Posters

Tokushima Shinbun reported that the PR posters of Awa Odori Festival featuring Kara no Kyoukai were stolen and two of them were put up for online auction. The bureau chief of Tokushima City Sightseeing Association is pleased that the poster is attracting considerable attention but also perplexed with the successive thefts. The posters were sold for 83,000 - 93,000 yen (~$1,000) at the auction.

Kodansha announced that all the PR posters of Mahou Sensei Negima! Mouhitotsu no Sekai put at Akihabara station were stolen.

I have mixed feelings, the publicity is great and they did help the company get the word out, but $980 for a poster is too much for upcoming anime, however it isn't like the disgrace that happened in the shrine, those thieves who stole the fan works need to die, you never steal from a shrine or other religious place, it's disrespectful and attracts bad karma.

I've managed to get both the 2009 and 2010 Awa Odori Kara no Kyoukai posters (as well as the 2010 Touhou Project one) from Yahoo Japan Auctions XD but for very expensive prices of course. Lucky I can afford them otherwise I wouldn't have even bothered trying to get them knowing how much they sell for.

on the up side, they probably got more publicity out of the thefts than they would have gotten out of the posters.
