According to Mainichi.jp, an autobiography of singer-songwriter Kawashima Ai was announced to get an anime movie adaptation. The title is "Hachigatsu no Symphony - Shibuya 2002~2003" and it will be premiered in August. Nishizawa Akio ("Furusato Japan") directs the movie.

Kawashima's father disappeared before she was born and her mother died when she was three. She was adopted into the Kawashima family but the adopted father and mother died when she was ten and sixteen, respectively. She became a top singer from a street performer.

She sang the theme song of "One Piece: Episode of Alabaster - Sabaku no Ojou to Kaizoku Tachi".

I'm glad she didn't let those tragedies stop her from becoming a singer. I might check this movie out.

Never heard of her (don't pay attention to the music scene much) but to lose four parents before adulthood is pretty rough. She's a bit young to have an autobiography though, neh? But eh, maybe I'll check it out in the future.
My thoughts exactly.

The same here. I agree to most of what Asako said. I know she a One Piece theme song and that's all I know of her.
Well, anyways, I'll give a thought about watching that one.
