Oricon surveyed on the most desired live action movie/drama adaptation of manga by the Japanese fans. "Slam Dunk" got the top in the ranking. Here is the top 10:

A live action TV drama of Kimi ni Todoke was once announced in Rakuten Ichiba but no further information has been given to date.

One Piece movie would look so fucking retarded, and even more so if adapted by the Japanese themselves and their complete lack of style, substance, nuance and subtlelty when it comes to blockbusters. I would laugh my arse off for years and years at a live-action movie of pirates with ridiculous powers as seen in the manga, getting into random comedic hijinks.

Monster is already in pre-production or thereabouts, so we'll be seeing that soon enough.

Gintama I think is another movie that would fail on the level of One Piece.

The problem is the lack of directors with vision behind the camera. If you hire someone who actually 'gets' the material and give them freedom and a big budget, then the movie can work no matter what the premise is.

I don't know about that, the japanese have pulled out some really weird movies, so a Gintama L-A may not be impossible. I would pay to see it if it ever came out.

Hahahahaha....even a huge One Piece fan like myself knows how utterly impossible an OP live action would be. Though it would be quite funny. Lol. But once again, its great to know how popular One Piece is compared to all other shounen.
