I think the problem with a Vinland Saga anime is that there's no easy place for a 1 cour series to end at. The first part of the series lasts until chapter 54, which would be very difficult to reach even for a 2 cour series. You can probably end the anime just after the Thorfinn - Thorkell fight but even that is all the way till chapter 42. And it would suck for an VS anime to end any earlier. That plus the fact that the series doesn't seem to be the type Otakus will go mad about means that a VS anime would be a huge, extremely risky investment for the production committee guys.
Someone in Hollywood should do a Vinland Saga movie trilogy instead, that would probably work perfectly and has a high chance of making money.
I think it might work with VS airing in NHK, like Kingdom and the Vagabond example I hypothesized. But the problem here is that Vagabond has historical elements as it's main themes, aka Musashi Miyamoto, while VS just uses it as a setting to tell Thorfinn's story. Then again, Kingdom.
And since you brought up the movie thing.... James Cameron, I am counting on you, after you finish Battle Angel Alita.

The low sales for Akame Ga Kill remind me that sometimes the Japanese still have some taste left.
+1
And I feel that Otoyomegatari should switch sales numbers with Sakamoto. I like the latter but the former deserves more IMO, due to the quality. Otoyomegatari is like a love letter to excellence, both in art and story.
Waiting for dat Vinland Saga anime announcement ever since September, Kodansha...
I am not sure if VS would work as an anime, same for Vagabond and a lot of other titles.
I am happy both Otoyomegatari and Sakamoto do well, though.
Vinland Saga could work, IMO. Vinland Saga to me is divided into parts:
Could work. And Vagabond, just pitch it to NHK, since it's historical and all and thus might be tagged as 'educational', just like Kingdom. Just cut out all the sex scenes.

lol the copies jump from 6 digits to 5 between the #1 and two for light novels,
Do you know just how rare a 6 digit week is for light novels?
Biblia is by far the bestselling light novel series that is actively releasing volumes (although this isn't as clear cut now as it used to be).
Here's a list of every single 100k+ first week sales of light novels in the last year, along with the number of days that week covered:
170k Biblia 5 - 3 days (20-26/1)
172k SAO progressive 2 - 6 days (9-15/12)
111k index new testament 8 - 6 days (9-15/9)
115k kagerou days 4 - 5 days (26/8-1/9)
110k kuroko no basket replace 4 - 5 days (29/7-4/8)
156k juuni kokushi hiisho no tori - 5 days (24-30/6)
125k oreimo 12 - 3 days (3-9/6)
147k kagerou days 3 - 6 days (27/5-2/6)
118k koyomimonogatari - 7 days (20-26/5)
187k SAO vol 12 - 5 days (8-14/4)
225k Biblia 4 - 3 days (18-24/2)
Biblia vol 4 and SAO volume 13 are the only volumes to have sold 100k in their second week in that time (SAO 13 narrowly missed out on 100k+ in its first week). As far as I am aware no light novel has ever sold 100k+ copies in a week after its second (although Moshidora may have done - I can't find any sources of data from the time which include it).

*170,056 170,056 Biblia Koshodou no Jiken Techou Vol.5
I wonder if people stop buying volumes if they know it's almost certain it will get an anime cause every volume drops a lot.
but Biblia already got massive boost when the Drama aired.

Very happy to see Koe no Katachi reach 100K in it's 2nd volume! The sky is the limit for this touching and impressive manga!
Same, delighted to see that its growing in popularity. Definitely not your typical romance\SOL manga.

Also, I think there was a domain registered for this manga recently:
Yeah, I heard about that as well! I definitely do hope my dreams come true and it gets an anime; that would be great.
