'Shingeki no Kyojin' Live Action Movie Project Relaunched With New Team, Due For Release in 2015

According to the official site for "Shingeki no Kyojin," an announcement has been made stating that a live-action movie adaptation of the series is being created with a new project team. It has also been announced that the movie will begin filming in summer 2014 and is scheduled to be released sometime in 2015.

Members of the crew announced thus far are as follows:

Director: Shinji Higuchi
Script: Yuusuke Watanabe, Tomohiro Machiyama
Original Creator: Hajime Isayama
Production: Toho Company

I 100% this would do better if they had it done in the US tbh. I really feel this movie would be huge if it was done with Hollywood's help/collaboration.

hollywood could make a fantastic shingeki movie, i'd watch the hell out of it. but this.. well, i suppose we'll end up pretending it never happened.

The USA is not the only one who can make good looking CGI. But for a good CGI a movie needs an good budget or/and CGI spezialists who can make the best with the given budget what japanese movies obviously dont have.

I've seen live actions of anime, made by Japan. Honestly they're crap compared to the original.
Especially Shingeki no Kyojin, which settings and characters are fit to be Hollywood's.
I won't raise my hopes high for this

Meh, dont have high expectations but will watch (only to be disapointed ;__;), cant wait for SNK S2 gonna be a while though...

Hmm judging from existing Japanese movies, I'm not sure if they're gonna be able to pull this off. I think this is a project Hollywood could handle a lot better considering there'll be a lot of big budget action scenes & there will have to be a whole lot of CGI which is damn expensive if you want it to look impressive. If it was me in charge of this project I would hire someone like Joss Whedon to direct & have Guillermo del Toro as producer.
I'm intrigued as to how this will turn out but I think it's not a good idea.

Well but however it would have japanese cast like many comments of you guys here. Only hope that the cast would not be like the life action of Ouran Highschool Host Club 'cos the main character was not even slightest similar to him :P (blondy who's name I forgot). The worst thing that could happen is that the non asien characters are asians with dyed hair and I have the feeling that the best cosplayers would make a better cast like for example the one that cosplayed Levi (Reika) and other awesome cosplayers.

Letting that aside, does anyone know where it is going to be filmed and will they go to foreign countries too? Well I guess if there is enough money.

This movie should be a co-produced by an American and a Japanese studio. If the direction of the Japanese and the execution of Americans are combined, we might actually get something worth remembering decades from now.

This is just another example of milking SnK for all it's worth while they still can. Very rarely does rushed stuff like this turn out good.

I foresee special effects as the biggest problem because it's needed for the titans and the 3DGM. Then there is Levi's spinning technique or Eren's titan form. It's probably gonna look so corny and bad that it's laughable.

The only way to pull of SnK right is if it was produced as a Hollywood summer action movie.

You see, my standards for good adaptation are a tad bit higher than "it's good as long as they include most of the pages". SnK anime has a lot of QUALITY, strange chara design changes (which I didn't like), some pacing issues and rather small but questionable changes to the plot.
Good to see how cultured you are, I'll try keep it in mind in the future.

the first things they should do is to NOT choose asian actors for ALL THE CAST (except for Mikasa as mentioned before), if they do that then there's a bit of hope lol

for the others, not all of them look german, so some being french (Jean looks french(??) and for some reasons a lot of people think that Levi is French lol don't ask me why though, don't know either), american (example: Erwin(?)) & russian (Annieeeee) may be a good choice too :x

in any case, that movie shouldn't be made by japanese people unless the theme of the movie was purely japanese related orz which is not the case at all, it will be simply impossile for them to find an international cast that can speak japanese and are good actors orz
