This is the one of the view manga's I've actually been compelled to read and I can say Without a doubt that its a must-read manga, although the ending is a bit rushed which sucks and I'm sad that this is the end of it for now (i can Hope it comes back can't I).

The story is far more interesting then that of the first season with many new enemies and allies, its defiantly a good read if you're new to manga (like myself) if you like supernatural,harem and action this is the manga for you.

Hmm before I start this review I would like to clarify that I read until chapter 66.3/66C (no idea why there is sub-chapter numbering when they are full chapters)

And also, if I am reviewing it from a "sequel of the first season" it is 5/10, and if standalone it is 7. But overall, it is 6/10. I gave Season 1 a 8/10 in my review.

[Story:3/10]
Regrettably, the story is what disappointed me the most. Besides being overly-cliched (I think I could see a lot of Bleach-like scenes), and meaningless gore (Why would you wanna pull ur head out and then put it back just for show? ... Why, for the gore of course!), and also, there are a lot of plotholes and unexplained incidents.

Not to mention that up to chapter 66.3/66C, I think most readers will already take light of characters dying or taking MAJOR injuries (sounds a bit Bleach-like right? But....wait for it.... no Rejection of Events! (Orihime's powers). So how did they recover or come back from serious injuries? Good question...)

Generally, the story, if without spoilers, goes like this... Students in a youkai high school try to save a world against an evil organisation. Cliched-much? Add harem catfight, excessive ecchi, and tons of gory and drama scenes and you get Season 2. In fact, the few elements I just mentioned are much less in Season 1.

The art is generally nice, but in this season, due to slight character changes, sometimes there is a bit of confusion whether Tsukune is in his Vampire mode, as in Season 2 he looks quite similar in either mode (unlike Season 1 where he looks obviously less mature in normal mode).

The second issue with the art is the changes in character design, especially Yukari. Somehow I often confuse her with Rubi since she doesn't have her witch's costume anymore.

The third issue is sometimes some things in the panels are quite blur / poorly drawn that I could not understand what that thing is, and it happened for at least 3-4 times.

O yea, btw I think Hokuto looks like Aizen from Bleach ahaha (ever since from S1).

I'm not sure how to explain my disappointment in the character changes from S1, but I'll try. For the new characters in S2 it is mainly positive.

Firstly, Rubi. Honestly I'm not sure why her role changed so much, I guess it is funny at times (erotic actually), but it is hard to establish her as a stable character since sometimes she seem to be there as a messenger, as comic relief, as core character, and as a main fighter). This is so much so that by 66.3/66 C I think she is one of the most "immortal" characters. Not sure just how strong or "tank" she is.

Second, there are a lot of scenes dedicated to the Inner-Outer Moka issue. It seems like the author wanted to focus on Inner Moka in S2, but somehow I have no idea why there seems to be an over-focus on Inner Moka that Outer Moka's achievements and days with Tsukune in S1 seemed to be neglected, especially during the "Moka Memories" incident. And for all the focus on Inner Moka, I guess the most interesting thing is that Inner Moka still only has 1 main attack pattern: Kicking and somehow she does not need training. Nice character development on the past though.

Third, Tsukune. In this season there is some question over just how much he can control his powers. And how much his powers really are. Sure, if you wanna refer to Ichigo from Bleach, you can see from his mask and so on, as to Tsukune's Holy Lock. But honestly, there is no proper explanation on how much he can use it and so on. Btw, Ichigo's hollowfication comes to mind when reading somewhere in S2.

Fourth, for all the rest of the S1 characters. I think that some of them have been developed quite well, but honestly S2 focuses on harem, not friendship, so the rest of the S1 harem crew have developed into catfights at times. I still like S1's focus on friendship better.

Fifth, for the new characters that appear in S2. For example, Fang Fang, I think it's quite interesting how his family background is explored and relationship with a friend is delved into. Kokoa too, there's quite some character development and past uncovered. And Sun's history development is not bad too.

Overall, one common problem for most characters is the "relative power" between the different characters. Since most characters have direct attacks (instead of those like charm or paralysis), it is funny how some characters can win or lose at times. Anyways, another issue is how they could recover from serious injuries (normally there's no explanation) that suits the kind of monster they are. For example, maybe vampires regenerate faster than others? Nope, just jump a panel and they are good as new. Thus, this breaches the concept of realistic and logical fights and so for some battles the results of the fights are meaningless (Since some of the supposed-to-be heavily injured/dead characters could come back to rejoin some other fight very soon).

Some parts were so cliched and predictable that I would just guess before I read on. Bascially, it was excessively ecchi during the front part, quite boring sometimes after that, and needlessly gory. The transition is not very smooth honestly, it was quite light initially but then turned very dramatic and heavy later on. I guess at times they try to lighten the mood with "in-battle jokes", like in Bleach, especially before they just fight, but it just seems kind of silly and out-of-place at times.

I really enjoyed S1 a lot due to it being more focused on friendship and too-quick power ascension. This is not to mention some enemies which are defeated a bit too easily at 60+, or some missing characters not accounted for. But still, it does have its merits; it has some good character development, romance scenes and other heartwarming scenes.

I guess S2 is a bit too heavy for me, after reading S2 (up to chp 66.3/66C) just before S1. There are a lot of cliched and predictable scenarios, and I kept thinking of 2 mangas while reading S2, Bleach (for its obviously similar story progression at a lot of parts) and Chaosic Rune (for the obvious preference of gore, action and mystery).

So this is my review for S2 up to 66.3/66C, sorry if you think that it is one-sided but I think it is a mix of too many elements, the author tried to add too much stuff and ended up leaving a lot of things not explained for or rushed endings to battles, among other above-mentioned stuff.

When I was reading this manga I have ended up feeling that I was reading a story written by an elementary school child.

The story is totally incoherent, nothing have sense and it is way too unrealistic. Not because there is a lot of fantasy, that is totally fine, but because the rules of the world described by the author are constantly changing.

This is the perfect example of the story that has been written without any planning and that have ended turning into a set of sensational incidents just for trying to keep his audience.

Speaking about characters, they are simply uninteresting.

The main character is a regular ... guy that has totally nothing for waking up the interest of the reader at any point. I have felt so hard that the author was trying to give to the main character something special to say, but in the end nothing valuable was done.

The secondaries aren't better either, just a set of girls whose personalities could almost be summarized by using one word. There are ones written in a better way than others but anyway there is nothing really good about anyone.

And in the end I ended up feeling that in the whole story there wasn't any character development that was well written, just superficial things that aren't interresting. The worst part is that there was some potential, for example with the character of Mizore, but the author has apparently preferred to write about a freaking teen harem without any value.

This is the kind of manga that should only be read by teens, otherwise I don't really think that you are gonna have a good time.
