Synopsis

Sixteen-year-old Ai Hoshino is a talented and beautiful idol who is adored by her fans. She is the personification of a pure, young maiden. But all that glitters is not gold.

Gorou Amemiya is a countryside gynecologist and a big fan of Ai. So when the pregnant idol shows up at his hospital, he is beyond bewildered. Gorou promises her a safe delivery. Little does he know, an encounter with a mysterious figure would result in his untimely death—or so he thought.

Opening his eyes in the lap of his beloved idol, Gorou finds that he has been reborn as Aquamarine Hoshino—Ai's newborn son! With his world turned upside down, Gorou soon learns that the world of showbiz is paved with thorns, where talent does not always beget success. Will he manage to protect Ai's smile that he loves so much with the help of an eccentric and unexpected ally?

"Oshi no Ko" ranked 11th and seventh in the 2021 and 2022 Kono Manga ga Sugoi! for the Male Readers division, respectively. The manga was nominated for the 14th and 15th Manga Taisho Awards and placed fifth and eighth in the final ranking, respectively. It was also nominated for the 46th and 48th Kodansha Manga Awards in the General category.

The series has been published digitally in English through MANGA Plus. The volumes have been published by Yen Press since January 17, 2023. It has also been released in French by Kurokawa since January 13, 2022; and in Polish by Studio JG since October 21, 2022.

In true Akasaka fashion, this manga presents the same qualities and flaws as Kaguya-sama, but with a bit more flaws this time

Overall enjoyment : 9/10
As always with Akasaka's works, the story talks about a group of young boys and girls that need to wear social masks in order to fit in a world made by adults.
Despite all of the flaws listed below, Oshi no Ko is one of my favourite manga. It is safe to say that it fell off and that the plot is currently stalling, but the beginning was so good and I'm so invested in the characters that I'm still enjoying it.

oshi no ko initially started off as a dark idol show that incorporated a variety of themes coupled with a blend of revenge, which certainly stood out from the generic idol shit that is available as its characters also had significant depth. Its complexities in character depth and dynamics are certainly areas worthy of undisputed praise. To restate this is what oshi no ko looked like, or this was its potential.

Aqua was a doctor that was obsessed with a 16 year old idol, helped her give birth and after that got isekaied as her son after he was murdered by her stalker, some time after that she dies as well by the same stalker in front of him and now aqua wants revenge so he joins the entertainment industry (he became an actor). The 2-3 first arcs are great after that the last 1-2 arcs are mid at best the latest arc for example keeps on drugging out its been like 20+ chapters since they started preparing to make a movie
