We got storytelling on Mizuha and her past family in this episode. She's definitely becoming a more prominent character this season especially with the tragic events that occured in her life such as the death of her mother. Fushi's character chemistry and connection with her feels unique in this timeline as well. Episode definitely tried to evoke a level of emotions for the both of them.

WHY COULDN’T THEY JUST GIVE US YURI??? Why couldn’t we just have Mizuha and Hanna being happy together instead of her falling for Fushi and becoming obsessive and weird like Hayase π just something defective in those genes that’s been going back centuries, because even the mom is a piss poor mother who lies and gaslights her daughter while living vicariously through her. AND WHATS THAT ENDING??? No way she actually killed her mom right, like that’s surely a vision of a possible reality, right?? Oh this doomed yuri.. I feel so bad for Hanna because she’s done everything she possibly can to be there for Mizuha and it’s just not enough. That girl is so deeply broken that anything short of perfection just won’t do for her. Sad. Truly. Kinda put a bad taste in my mouth about this arc ngl, but we’ll see how it plays out. The mom lying about that hair pin being a family heirloom when she just paid 2 bucks for that shit is killing me tho that’s bold af lmao

Great episode! Hayase's guardians and sect still exist, which is quite exceptional, 800 years later. I was hoping that Mizuha would follow Hayase's "yandere" tendencies, it's promising. Her POV was interesting to understand her mentality... I didn't see her Matricide coming, the end of the episode pleasantly surprised me. I'm impatiently waiting for the next episode.

@HansDevX Narratively speaking, yes, this story needed a modern-day arc to wrap things up. If you want to see what real milking looks like, wait until the Cyberpunk arc.

I really enjoyed the episode, but I gotta be honest. Spending so much time "recontextualizing" the events of the episode by spelling out Mizuha's feelings, which had already been presented in the subtext in every single scene, kind of felt like a waste of time. There was not a single thing we learned the second time around that we hadn't already been told through Mizuha's reactions and body language.

Welp, the episode certainly baited me in the first half with how I thought Mizuha was feeling. I really wasn't expecting her to develop Hayase's twisted personality nor to snap at her mom to the point of killing her. Even that smile at the end and the "perfect" thoughts regarding the people she knew were quite scary. I hope this generation, the 18th one, at least doesn't sexually assault Fushi.

Really nice episode. I must say I don't understand why this was called a "slice of life-season"; it started out slower than the other seasons, but it clearly built-up to this moment and I expect it to get more serious from here on out. What I want to find out most, though, is what the goal for Fushi is. He was asleep for a long time, doing nothing really. Is that the end of his journey? Is there nothing for him left to do? I kinda hope that next season or so, he'll go to space and we see some crazy exploration, like, him going to sleep for thousands of years while his space vessel is flying towards an alien planet.

I may have forgotten a lot of stuff from this series as time has gone on, but one thing I don't think I'll ever forget is Hayase's obsessed and crazy demeanor... and yeah, Mizuha is most certainly a decedent of that crazy lunatic, no doubt about that. Don't know what's up with that whole she killed her mom thing, but it just screamed "be shocked about this" more than anything.

Mizuha is just as problematic as Hayase — her ancestor, and likely her reincarnation. Analyzing her personality objectively, Mizuha carries a lot of emotional turmoil; she’s hard to get attached to, yet her behavior is understandable. She’s someone with many gifts but no clear sense of purpose, constantly feeling pressured to meet her family’s and friends’ expectations. She also seems to feel that no one is truly on her level — or above it — for her to admire or allow herself to be vulnerable with, at least until she meets Fushi. By the way, for those who might not remember, Hayase merged with a Nokker and passed that evolution down to her descendants. I don’t believe Mizuha killed her mother; rather, it’s likely that the Nokker temporarily took control of her. The doctrine of the Guardian Force — which worships Fushi but also seeks to control him — combined with the Nokker’s destructive power, could make her a dangerous villain as her body and mind continue adapting to the Nokker. Overall, it was an excellent episode — better than any from the second season.

Not really engaged by this Mizuha arc, like when many other animes try to tell this type of story it basically feels like people without real problems being depressed because of this and that, still it sucks Mizuha gets bullied and that her mom is that manipulative and possessive but compared to what the characters of previous arcs got through it feels like nothing Still the moment they announced the religious aspect of this cursed family is still active my interest jumped, maybe some nokkers are still alive? Mizuha going completely bonkers Hayase style too definitely has potential, well i hope we're just out of the boring and predictable part of this arc.

18 generations have passed, and Mizuha hasn't lost a single drop of Hayase's blood... (and all the curse that parasitizes it). Interesting how the history book written by the guardians paints Hayase as Fushi's first "protector," even though she was maniac about him, wanting his power to become... perfect.

I dont know if I should root for the obvious yuri ship, or for the descendant of the yandere to finally get Fushi laid. I guess plot demands yandere. For a second here I thought Mizuhas mom actually learned her lesson but no.. I doubt it. She definitely took the hair tie as well. And the apple did not fall far from the tree, Mizuha is crazy in her own way.. Curse the misfortune of your birth I guess. Mizuhas childhood was basically "your weakness disgusts me" lmao. Though I believe the best part about our lifes always lie ahead. So growing up and growing old is fine too. Great episode! S2 kinda bored me but this is great, I guess not having a time skip every 5 minutes helps. The wording from Fushi sounded like this has not happened yet, but the PV makes it sound like it has? Did she kill her mom or not?? Would be kinda fun is Fushi brought back Hayase just for shits and giggles

Oh she was just at her grandpa's house. Good. I thought she'd try something far stupider. "Did I do something to you?" The audacity of this bitch. Classic manipulative parent. It's never their fault. Even if it was, it's still somehow your fault. But at least she called off the move. Maybe she wasn't so bad after all. But I think she 100% took away her old hairband to give her the knockoff one. Such a shitty thing to do to your kid. The rest of the episode. Hoo boy. The more I heard Mizuha's internal monologue, the more I kept thinking, "Wait, this girl has something wrong with her." And yeah, kids with parents like that are never normal. But what the fuck. I didn't see that ending coming at all. Her mom might've been a bitch but she didn't deserve to get killed by her own kid! Bruh. Seems like her grandpa wanted her to be a Guardian leader or something. So they're still a thing. And her mom was against it. Mizuha seems super into it tho. And her obsession with Fushi. That was very familiar lol. I thought this was going to be a SOL-focused Season but shit went from 0 to 100 really quick. I'm guessing Fushi will do something about it. He talked about it like it's in the future. So maybe it didn't even happen yet? So excited for the next episode.

C'mon man. i think youre heavily missing the fact shes absolutely psychotic and only switched into the "im perfect and i deserve god" mentality after reading about her family religion and fushi... its like reading a bible/quran/torah and sayign "well everyone else is just a subhuman and simply noy on my level" in a way, fushi appearance only came to wreck her already very frail teenage development. She had no reason to value the feather rubber band or being touched when she overheard her friend defending her yet she did, until she lost the little sanity she was growing. these two episodes were literally 1 step foward, 2 step back, and shes now at negative, she broke. |

I thought Mizuha's mom was estranged from Mizuha's grandpa because Mizuha's mom thought he was not good enough. I also thought she was the one that would cause the tragedy because of the preview last episode. Mizuha took the wrong lesson. Instead of talking to her mom about her demands and caring about her friends, she views that as a safety net and wants Fushi thinking it will give her life purpose. I wonder if Fushi is going to pretend to be her mom because of the preview, but whenever Fushi transforms into someone they have yellow eyes and Mizuha's mom had her eye color in the preview.

So Mizuhas moms perfect life style is probably a rebellion of her family, but it just led it back to Mizuhas stress, the mothers death and now Mizuha wanting the perfect person which is Fushi.. Similar to Hayase wanting Fushi for his imortality and powers..
