@Wrathberry84 I mean it was kinda obvious he wanted to make people mad by commenting that, its a childish behaviour

I know this rejection was a long time coming, but maybe the MC should've waited until they were back from the trip? He postponed it all this time already, could've waited a bit longer and not made the girl cry while among her friends and away from home. Then again, he's still a highschooler. It was impressive enough for him to not confess to Chinatsu so as to not put her in an awkward situation were she to reject him.

Also, didn't care for the monologue at the beginning, way too long.

This frame. This specific frame. Something about it is just so interesting. You can practically TELL that something really horrible just happened to her.

I love how animators and artists can express this much emotion simply through a drawing

You just know it was coming. Forget about this being the penultimate episode or this being a training camp with bonfire, which in the world of anime has a RICH history when it comes to making or breaking couples, but yeah, they weren't even a couple, as you know this was always about Hina and how one-sided everything was. All that talk over how she wanted things to go down and how it still will not, was genuinely sad.

It's easy to hate Taiki here, but for him, this was never something MORE THAN a friendship. We never saw him holding any sort of feelings towards Hina, even after getting confessed to by her some 10 episodes ago. Sure he was confused but that's normal for someone his age when two girls have the same kind of feelings for you.. which in itself is not really normal but okay xD He was clear with his communication, so yeah, the stuff could've been delayed(it actually would have if Ayame wasn't so super smart), but this was inevitable:(

The ship has sunk officially, deeeeeeep down. Power to Hina, and it's over to just Chinatsu from here on out.

@AnotherGuy well. She kinda pushed him to do it with another confession. And he is right that she would only suffer more, the longer this goes on.
I think he reacted completly correct. Its sad because hinais a great girl, but one of them would have been devasted anyway.
Where i would guess chi would handle it with less tears, because she is not as clear in her feelins than hina at this point.

What a plottwist it would have been if taiichi would have said yes to hina in that situation. That kinda would gave been anazing because it would have been totaly unexpected.

I like hina more too, because i like her type more, but it went as expected.

The only thing i would like to know now how this goes on. Is hina now completly out?
We need more drama, so i guess not.

I love a good 4D experience episode, it’s not quite the fall yet but almost spring is close enough lol, it was warm enough to sit outside but it was starting to get cool as the sun went down, and as the night fell, it also fell in the show, I really loved that but Hina was unfortunately not loving it this episode. It was definitely painful, to see Taiki finally end what he’s had with Hina since her confession, and to see Hina protest so much as Taiki stands his ground… but even if I’m sad for Hina, this was masterfully done, probably one of the best episodes of the show.

You could see Hina’s romance failing miles away, pretty much as early as the first signs that she loved Taiki (also there was a guy that kept spoiling her loss in the episode threads sadly), but even then I still wanted to see her potentially win, and that’s a big part of why this rejection hits as hard as it does despite it being easy to see coming. But really, this is what’s best for everyone, it’s like Taiki said, what Hina is doing isn’t normal, it’s not healthy, and although Hina is hurting right now, her moving on from her love for Taiki is gonna be good for her, so even if I’m sad for Hina, I’m also happy that she gets to take this off her shoulders. Damn Ayame thought she was cooking tho didn’t she lol, she kinda was but just not the way she thought, also Kyou’s moment with her in this episode was really cool, I wonder if that’s gonna play a big role in Ayame changing the way she sees romance.

If Hina wants to blame anyone, she gotta blame the mangaka for making her such an overpowered losing heroine. I mean there was literally no other option for Taiki at this point—doesn’t make things any less sad and unpleasant. Season finale is going to be brutal!

Poor Hina. She's heartbroken ๐Ÿ’”. After all that and she loses to Chinatsu who had no personality at all. She's so boring. She's winning for the sake of winning, never seen such a boring FMC.

Hina deserves better. Taiki has bland tastes. My God this anime is annoying at times. I don't even understand why chinatsus chosen over best girl Hina. ๐Ÿ˜•

Hina you deserve someone better than Taiki. I. rooting for you. Face forward. It'll get better.

Nothing wrong in a real world sense of what happened. Taiki did the right thing by not keeping Hina hanging on...
But still, as a viewer, the rest of the show is going to be entirely him chasing after the bland, uninteresting girl now? *Sigh*
@Briekimchi nah fr, like i'd say you see more of hina then chinatsu which is really frustrating.

Taiki is a loser. Hina is far better than Chinatsu. I guarantee nothing is going to happen before the end of the season too, so it’ll just end with this rejection and nothing coming from it. Lame.

I kinda felt like Hina deep down pretty much knew she was not going to win, but she enjoys loving Taki, I think she really didnt want to hear Taiki's answer because maybe when she hears the answer she maybe will feel like she is no longer able to love him and chase him, getting rejected now is prob bettter for Hina then just sitting there and clinging onto hope that there is a chance. Altho she did put in a lot of good effort, I LOVE YOU, LOOK AT ME, LOOK AT ME!!!. Sad to see her lose when I knew she was gonna lose already. Personally I liked Hina a lot more than Chinatsu. Maybe thoughts will change if we get to see more of Chinatsu and her thoughts, since a lot of this so far was focused on Hina's one sided love.

Its great to see that Taiki finally stood his ground and said what he had to.

not sure how much more of Hina we will see after this, hopefully it goes towards something a bit more real, pretty much along the line of losing Hina as a friend, and see how Taiki will handle and grow from this.

I’m a bit disappointed with the pace of the anime. This episode whilst good in establishing Taiki's decision, feels all too long winded. It was very obvious that he didn't view her romantically but the story tried to force us into thinking that something would work for them. Taiki isn't wrong for saying the truth, but I wished he had told her far earlier. I don't know about anyone else, but it seems like the past 8 or so episodes have been forcefully drawn out.

@Hylianticipated you're probably right. Taiki is really hard to root for here because he hasn't really done much throughout the season. You'd think that he'd make more bold moves with chinatsu, but he doesn't, all of their conversations are very flat and monotonous...

For someone who "likes someone else", the anime has done nothing to push the characters closer or give them opportunities to have proper development. I'm waiting until episode 25 before I tear this anime to shreds because it's not that great imo.

The song was really good on its own but with the scene, man it was so over-the-top and made it even more overdramatic lmao. The actual execution otherwise was good, and Taiki did the right thing in my opinion. It made him a bit cold-hearted but considering what he was going through and how he didn't want to leave Hina 'on the hook' for longer, it made sense and was for the better - even if it hurt Hina and their relationship as a result. He liked Chinatsu and he showed that for a majority of time, even with slight swaying feelings at times and it was about time that he committed to himself for that. Sucks for Hina again since you can tell how much she did care for him, even while knowing of his feelings of Chinatsu - and how much she didn't want to even hear those words of rejection and negative closure come to reality in the episode but it is what it is. Episode looked really good visually too, the best in a while.

Hina noooooooooooooooooooooooo

Damn that was such a great scene. And you know what, as much as I love Hina and she's my best girl, I'm glad she got rejected early.

Like, unlike other shows where I go with my ship (or the harem ending) until the end, here I'm fine with Taiki and Chinatsu, I like Chinatsu and I like them together. This time I think it hurt more to see Hina's one sided crush and how she was fighting a losing battle so yeah, I'm fine with this and it's weird haha.

Oh and Akari Kitou of course... she's great! I already liked her voice and her performances with the various characters she's voiced but Hina and Hina (from Okitsura lol) this season are being some of my favorites.

Hina, a person which has experienced growth, buildup, and tension all until now just lost to a person who has the personality of a wet paper towel with no meaningful screen time. I despise this author's way of making a love triangle as he put all of the eggs in Hina's basket, narration wise and story wise, but still makes Hina get cucked over every time without fail. This has made for a very cheap result as the author put so many eggs in Hina's basket while Chinatsu got nothing so in the end, we have a half-baked character who is somehow supposed to steal the spotlight in one episode when her only traits being that she likes basketball and works hard. One of the worst high budget romance anime I have ever seen, actually piss poor writing.

Hina be like: "No, I don't want that, Taiki rejecting me right now? I want him to keep thinking about me, I'll wait as long as it takes for him to fall for me, 10 years at least..."

Sorry about that, my AoT brainrot couldn't help it.

On a serious note, this episode was really sad, way sadder than it was in the manga thanks to the animation truly capturing Hina's emotions. I never supported Hina, but couldn't help feel sad for her. Didn't feel this way while reading the manga.

damn.. Taiki finally gave Hina his answer.. and it was not good.

Not the response she wanted to hear at all. I feel so bad for her honestly. I actually wouldn't have minded if he got with her. Sometimes I feel like it would be better if he did, rather than with Chinatsu.

Chinatsu doesn't have a lot going for her honestly. She's cool, pretty but honestly, her personality is quite dry. Hina has all of those things Chi does but is more bubbly, funny, kind and overall just has a bigger presence as a person. Not to mention how well they both know each other and how well they get along together.. it doesn't even compare. But I get it, you like who you like I guess.

Just feel super bad for Hina this ep. Great episode all around though.

And just like that, Hina's confession arc has ended. I knew what was coming this episode yet it still broke my heart. The anime made me love Hina compared to the manga, Hina's VA absolutely did a stellar performance and that made me love her character. What an episode 8/10. Now we wait for the last episode..

However, these past episode dragged the love-triangle too much for me and put too much focus on the usual BS (delays, bait and switch etc.) we have seen a million times and I'm tired of. So much so, the ending of this episode caught me by surprise when Taiki actually pushed through Hina's attempts to silence him.

As someone who was reading the manga since chapter 10 or so, it was so much worse when it was weekly. The entire "Hina's one-sided crush" arc took 30 chapters, so around half a year. It really dragged on to the point that I was ready to stop reading it weekly. This part (chapter 77) felt so liberating since we were finally free.
@MrPerson01 Ouch... I feel you, that must have been dreadful.
