Being prologue the 90 minutes movie released in cinemas and broadcasted as first episode (i.e. Ai's story) and Anime all the episodes after that.

Also please rate them separately.
I would go with:

Prologue 10/10

Anime 6/10

I wouldn't rate the "Anime" a 6/10 because it was definitely still good but yes ep.1 was a 10/10 and better than the rest.

Prologue was definitely a 10/10, I went in blind for this and oh lord what a journey it was! Wish it had been in the cinemas in the UK, would pay well to watch it!

The rest of the anime was still really good, of course the story is building up so it wasn't as exhilarating as the prologue. However the incredible animation, good story and very likeable characters have made the rest of the season a definite 8/10 for me!

So weighting both scores, I have scored 9/10 for the whole season as I really enjoyed it, it was kind of a breath of fresh air compared to what animes we have been getting. Can't wait for season 2!!! :)

I'd say the Prologue would be 9.5/10 and the rest of the season would be 8/10, maybe 7.5 if I'm being harsh. I rated it a 9/10 overall, but season two has a lot to live up to so I hope it doesn't peter out

hmmm.... overall i think episode 6 was the only episode as good as the prologue, but to be frank i expected that to be the case.

to me, this is a 7/10 show with 2 10/10 episodes.

so i gave it a low 8.

The first episode of the anime would have been comparable to any other slice-of-life series had that reincarnation and stabbing not been plot twists (those two plot twists alone made the 1st episode of the anime a 10 out of 10 for me).

But had she not been impregnated...if Ai had just lived her ordinary days avoiding the media, interacting with her idol peers, ensuring the success of her idol performances, the manager putting up with her... had she just endured her idol career as a normal teenager (and had there been no Sarina and Gojou characters), this series would have been comparable to an ordinary slice-of-life, run of the mill idol anime series.

Oshi no Ko is unique for the plot twists. Reincarnation is not new. We've seen that genre in thousands of anime. But, the take of the creators is something else...something fresh. And that's why I'm favoring the anime more than the movie. Episodes 2 to 11 of the anime made the series special and close to my heart. But the best aspects that I love about Oshi no Ko are the relationships and interactions among the characters:

  1. Ruby and Aqua's sibling interactions/disagreements towards the entertainment industry
  2. Kana's friendship-turned-crush with Aqua (from "acting buddy" on Sweet Today to baseball scene to balcony scene to idol stage scene, need I say more?)
  3. Aqua's mixed feelings with Akane (upon seeing Akane with star eyes)
  4. Ai's motherly relationship to her reincarnated children (and mind you, Ai doesn't even know that her babies are reincarnations)
  5. Aqua's conflicting feelings towards Ai (mother or fan?)
  6. Yuki's friendship/rivalry with Akane (on the LoveNow reality dating show)
  7. MEM-cho's friendship towards her new idol group: Ruby and Kana
  8. Miyako's love for her step-children

There's so much drama and happenings that this series can offer to its viewers and I'm here for it towards Season 2 and beyond!

Yes, it was like the only good episode it had and promised you something that the series didn't deliver by the end.

Episode 1: 6/10 or 7/10

Episode 2-11: 4/10, maybe 3/10 since you are cutting off the first episode

Definitely not, I felt like the 1st episode was a budget Perfect Blue that missed the point of what made Perfect Blue so good. Full of bad kind of melodrama and unexpected (totally expected) death. I'm glad the rest of the series is not like that so far

1st episode 5/10, rest of the series 7/10

i like both.
prologue 10/10
anime 10/10

i think half of them who only like prologue because they were there for the hype. because episode 1 is dark so they expect every episode gonna be dark. but i've always like slice of life/drama/romance anime so im not dissapointed

The prologue was amazing. I didn't even know it was a movie till I looked at the clock and thought it was a suspiciously long 1st episode. Defo a 10/10

The show itself was good 8/10

Together 9/10

Yeah, I agree the first episode is great, far better than almost every other anime this year, hence why I said a 7.

I like the anime slightly more than the prologue, but both are still a 9/10 for me. Prologue focuses on one main character for the most part while tying in on where the anime will go.

The rest of the anime showcases the different arcs that the characters go through, which was slightly more engaging for me. While some episodes felt like exposition leading to the climax of an arc, I had fun along the way, with episode 6 being one ride of a rollercoaster for me.

Rating them separated is simply dumb because they're not separated stories and 1st episode would have no meaning if you separate it from the rest of the series, without the rest the whole plot of reincarnation would have zero purpose and the story just being about a random idol getting murdered at the end, Ai isn't even the character that carries the episode, but the kids

Prologue is a 10. I don't think I need to explain it.

I'm incredibly biased and I'm a manga reader, but show itself is better than I remember. Some of the criticism I initially had was still stand. But wouldn't give it any lower than 8. It was really really good imo.

Overall is probably really high 8. It can be 9 but I just don't feel like giving it so.

honestly i genuinely really loved the anime as a whole. prologue will obviously be the best episode just cause its a literal movie almost, but the rest of the anime still did an amazing job at continuing the story.  literally my one and only complaint about the anime is that gotanda (the director in ep 1) got no screen time after ep 2 despite being my favorite character at the beginning. besides that the story itself was absolutely beautiful and i loved it, i have it at a 10/10 just cause of recent bias but i dont see myself ever putting it lower than 9/10 personally

I wouldn't rate one higher than the other. The remaining 10 episodes wouldn't have made sense without the movie establishing context across several timeskips, but I also think the latter would have felt too slowly paced if it had taken up several episodes; we likely wouldn't have gotten the finale stage performance and setup for the Tokyo Blade production.

Overall, I would give it a solid 9; the series started with a significant bang (I think most would agree), was paced well, and most importantly, showcased the positives, negatives, and extreme consequences of the entertainment industry. Shoutout to Doga Kobo as well: The quality of animation was top tier throughout the series.

Officially, I'm still going to keep it at a 10 on my profile, if only because I don't think it deserves anything less than a 9.

episode 1 is better than the rest of the anime (only episode close to it is episode 6) and i would rate it at high 7 or low 8.
i enjoy the mystery aspect, the whole reincarnation drama and how aqua deals with it and the romantic stuff between aqua, akane and kana. thats all 7/10.
i just dont give the slightest f about any of the idol, show bizz and acting crap. thats 3/10.
i would rate the overall anime a 5/10, but episode 1 elevates it to a 6/10 overall.
(yes, that is all very subjective. my taste.
objectively the animation and prodution quality is great.
last thing: the ed is better than the op.)

Honestly the first episode is the worst in the series. The ending is great, sure, but the rest of it was so boring that it became drag just to get through the whole thing. I only trudged through it because of the hype surrounding it. If it hadn’t been so highly rated I may have not finished it.

I definitely liked the prologue a lot more than I enjoyed the actual show. I wish the show had focused more on the mystery thriller aspect but I do understand that it is supposed to be a critique of the entertainment industry. There are various plot holes that ruined the show for me such as the fact that Ruby and Aqua never inquire about each other's past lives nor do they individually try to find out what happened to their family members after they died. Also, it's claimed that Ruby died four years before Gorou. How did they reincarnate at the same time, then...?

To address your plot holes:

In ep1: When Aqua and Ruby are shown in the preschool, Aqua does try to inquire about Ruby's identity, but since she wasn't too fond of her previous life she cut him and hence both decided not to probe into each other previous life

Gorou Amemiya is an orphan, and moreover, in ep1, you can see him trying to find out more information about his past death but results in nothing. There is more about his family addressed later.

Sarina's family left her to die alone...Idk if it would even be worth trying to look for them (moreover latest 3-4 chapter have a lot to address about this)

I understand your concern, but I feel like you are being conclusive without knowing the entire story, I mean, the anime is nowhere near done (with respect to manga) so there are bound to be plot holes right now.

The prologue was better to be honest, it was the best part of the whole anime. If the prologue wasn’t there this anime probably wouldn’t have become popular.

The prologue would be a 10 for me

the rest of the epsiode were most just character development and problems in the entertainment industry so there wasn't much to contest to the prologue but still the animation never dropped a bit and each episode delivered a 8/10

If further story is taken into account then this anime would be a 10/10 as a whole

I think the prologue/episode 1 had way more care put into it but that’s pretty standard for a lot of anime to be fair. As a self contained story, yes, I think I like the prologue a lot more but I think it’ll be better in the long run.
