What are the reasons why you dropped an anime?

I personally haven't dropped an anime yet. It's probably an ego thing too not having dropped a show lol, but I always like see the entire show before having an opinion on it and rating it. There were shows that were really close to me dropping them because they annoyed me in some way but I managed to still finish it.

Any reasons why you dropped an anime?

2 reasons: Plot was predictable or I couldn't stand the characters. I can stomach bad stories but not bad characters.

I haven't dropped any anime, and only because I commit to the show regardless of how terrible it can be.

Unbearable characters, boring plot, anime that have been put on hold for more than a year.

While there could be many factors as to why one would drop an Anime and I couldn't say for myself there has ever been just a single reason why.

But a simple answer to this is just losing complete interest in something being the main reason I have ever dropped an Anime. A perfect example of this would be why I dropped "Dragon Ball Z" during the Frieza Saga.

Oh I have one reason I don't think many people experienced: I have too much to watch and I'm sure I'll never get through it.

In the past few years there has been so much good stuff getting released I'm having to drop perfectly fine titles because my brain just can't keep up with more than 30 different shows per week. Not to mention the time constraint, I can't spend all my spare time just on anime. Also when stuff gets this level of overwhelming it's very easy to burn out, so that's an extra reason those shows go to "dropped" instead of "on hold".

I think the most petty reason was the Slime isekai. I stopped after season 1 because I couldn't stand Rimuru's voice. I only finished that season because it was somewhat interesting. If he wasn't the main character, I might have been able to continue, since I've seen plenty of other shows with annoying voices. Kuroko from Index and Railgun comes to mind as a character I also hate the voice of, but I'll still watch those for every character other than her.

I have dropped three anime so far. I think it's more proper to say that I switched to manga. All three of them are lengthy anime and the main reason for dropping them is that I don't have time to watch them.
Naruto shippuden: I got annoyed by the amount of flash back and filler arc.
One piece: Some characters are very weird to look at.
Dragon Ball: I don't have any strong reason, it's just that I didn't feel like continuing the anime.

Same is happening again with one piece manga. Plot is good. However, the character at where I am reading is very ugly that I am taking a break from reading it. I don't want to drop it and at the same time, I don't have a motivation to read it.

I drop an anime if I'm getting very bored by an aspect of it, whether it's characters, plot or pace.
I rarely drop an anime though because I do a relatively important amount of research before watching it (watching pvs, reading about it, asking people who've seen the original work questions...).

Boredom comes from a mix of many different factors. I prefer dropping as soon as possible and move on, I still wouldn't have watched a lot of great anime if I had to complete every anime I didn't enjoy.

Ego? That just sounds incredibly dumb to me. I "drop" a show if I don't find it entertaining, not any more complicated than that.
If you reply back to me and I never respond, I lost interest and don't care. Sorry about that.

Kind of a weird question. I get the impression that dropping an anime is a BIG FREAKING DEAL to some people. I've dropped almost as many as I've completed so it's definitely not something I think twice about. The reasons are varied but essentially boils down to a question of whether or not it's worth the time that could be spent elsewhere. I'll never be able to find my next 10/10 if I force myself to finish all the 4/10s.

It's pretty simple for me. I just drop it when I'm no longer interested. As you can probably tell by all the anime I've dropped, that happens pretty often haha. Dropping crappy anime has led me to moving on and finding a lot of really amazing ones though.

Any anime I was vaguely interested in, I watched at least 1 episode and would go on to finish it if it was good enough. If it was meh, I dropped it. Because of this I found some of my faveourites, like Nanoha and Mikan Enikki. Might have taken me years to get to those shows if I had a no drop policy.

Usually because I'm not 100% of an anime when I start but give it a chance anyway. (mostly seasonals) Less often because I am completely disappointed with the offering, expecting better (Gibiate)

Dropped permanently? Grotesque and disturbing shorts are really all i have there. Stuff like Shitcom and Puzzle of Autumn (Which legit almost caused me to have a seizure and no i'm not joking)

On Hold/Drop to resume later, the most common answer is that i just lost interest at the time. Or i didn't have the means to finish it (Like if it aired on tv and i missed some episodes or i had it on dvd but it was incomplete, a couple times there's been instances where i either lose the service before i can finish it or it gets removed)
My waifu is the most wonderful waifu. Mai Valentine.

We're freaking out that we're running out of time, but to do what? Should i stop and think of that? Is there something i could do to slow it down? Live in a day for once, instead of watch it sprinting by

I don't normally drop anime but the times I have it's been because I've either lost interest and got bored or didn't like where the plot/story was going. If the anime is short then I usually will just tough it out and finish it but if it's a longer anime then I'll either put it on hold and try again another time or drop it if I don't see myself ever completing it.

I dropped two and for different reasons. Knights of Sidonia I didn't like the art style and found it just looked really ugly.

And Witch Hunter Robin was so boring I just gave up. I didn't care about the mystery, world, characters. I had no investment then something interesting happened and the very next episode reneged on that one thing that had finally hooked me so I dropped it.

I used to drop a show if all they do is talk and there was little action. I wasn't interested in what I consider pretentious stuff that demanded a "high IQ" and total focus. An example would be the Monogatari series. I also dropped Yu-gi-oh because it was too childish. That was back when all I cared about was Shounen & Romcoms. I have since cleared my drop list and rewatched some of them. I adopted a no-drop rule in an effort to explore other genres.

There are still some genres I'm afraid to explore again since when I tried watching them before, I couldn't finish the first episode, and since I have a no-drop rule now, it's gonna be a very tedious experience to complete. I still dislike episodic shows similar to Mushishi & Detective Conan and shows for children, like the Pokemon series. I also don't like sports-themed shows like Kuroko's Basketball and sausage fest shows like Gensomaden Saiyuki. I will revisit those shows someday, but they're at the very bottom of my watch list. If I do manage to complete them, I have a feeling I'll give them a 5-6/10 on average, lol.

After 10+ years of watching anime, I am able to drop anime for the following reasons:

1. Boring or generic plot and generic or annoying characters. If by ep 3, that's not fixed, I drop the show.

2. If a show compensates for a poor plot, with TO MUCH comedy relief, fan-service and filler episodes. I will drop the show.

3. Anime who's comedy is centered around parody, is almost an instant drop for me.

4. Anime that don't take themselves seriously. By that I mean, the plot or characters are breaking the 4th wall or are goofy for reasons that don't get explained.

it's not something that I do lightly, so far I've only dropped one and that was Ergo Proxy after 16/23 episodes. I really didn't like it and I figured that I'd given it a more than fair chance: I found the idea of sitting through even one more episode unbearable.

It was well.. If you know or have seen anything about Shoujo Ramune then you will already know the reasons. It was sent to me by a friend so I decided to see it. It felt like a Boku no Pico prank?
Another anime I've dropped was Yaribu, I'm not sure why it was hyped a few years ago if I remember (The opening to be specific, and Yuri Ayato :| )

I've never dropped an anime, but knowing me, it could happen for two reasons: either I can't make sense of the story/plot, or I just can't stand the characters.

Also I didn't like some of the things he did in S1.

It is kinda dumb, I just think it's cool not having dropped any anime. However, if I complete it, atleast I have a personally fair view on the show. Instead of rating a show 1 and only completing half of the show.

1. Didn't like the anime or got bored watching.
2. Got bored waiting for new episodes so I read the manga instead. Now I have no reason to watch anime.
3. It's an anime adaptation of a manga I already read, and the novelty wore off. I already know what's gonna happen lmao.
4. I forgot to watch an episode while it was airing, and I kept forgetting to come back to it.

1. Boredom. I f I'm not entertained why would I still suffer.
2. Time constraints. If an anime is meh I go through it, but if I have more urgent stuff to do with my time, then I drop it.
3. Group drop. I watch some animes in simulcast within groups of friends. Sometimes we decide not to go on with some of them. 90% of the time I don't follow it up on my own.

Tbh I drop anime really quickly, I'm not very patient so there is a lot lmao

- If the series is episodic, it's a direct no, it prevents me from creating a link with the anime, the worst being that when you have an important development often the next episode this development disappears.

- Comedic show too focused on parody

- Bullshit isekai with black haired boy + harem + kill maou sama and worst, it's not a parodic show ?  nah go to hell.

- Slice of life, like I've already watch lot of SOL but often I find it extremely boring like okay Kirito kun is a highschool student who tryna bag Sakura chan and he made friends, they havin good time at the cinema, the karaoke like yeah okay whatever.

- Sport anime, like I swear I can't finish them "I make a shot from middlefield/damn I can make a 90ft jump" bullshit, I love Inazuma Eleven, Kuruko, Slam Dunk but only completed Slam Dunk lmao.

- Harem, especially when the MC doesn't make a choice, like damn give me a good romance not that "I can bag 10 girls" fantasy bs.

- Slice of life romance, like "Kirito kun do you want to come with me to the school festival/ village festival/ to the beach/ to the baths?" OH MY GOOD KILL ME

- Oniiii-chan ~ -> burn to hell (hate incest or pedo bullshit in anime, that's so crazy)

I've watched only the beginning episodes or straight dropped many series, I don't usually put those on my list. I mostly drop due to either the plot being too boring or silly or the setting being not interesting enough. I normally don't revisit any series I've dropped before.

If I dropped it then it's probably because:

1. It's boring
2. It annoyed or irritated me
3. It's offensive
4. I just have no motivation to watch any more of it
5. It's too difficult to find the rest such as incomplete licenses or only partial fansubs
6. I don't like any of the characters
