| Most anime is aimed at cis straight guys as a target demographic and as a member of the Lgbt community a lot of us notice that media in general seems to be more likely to represent queer female characters more often than male characters tan queer male characters and its probably due to fetishization some straight guys do to lesbian couples and relationships so more of those are added since it would appeal to tat crowd. A gay male character tends to be off-putting to those kinds of people especially when they're young and since a lot of anime seems to try and make as much money as possible and Japan is a very conservative country theyd tend to shy away from it probably due to the fact it wouldn't be appealing to that said audience. I don't really have too many numbers to go off of, but I see this sort of trend a lot in media not just anime as you also see it a lot in American comics where a lesbian character is more likely to be introduced tan a gay male character. When we are going into the nice of really young characters it makes it even harder to find since we are now adding another trait on top of it. |
