| Well, I don't know a proper defination nor an algorithm to get a protagonist but what I consider as a protagonist is the one who leads the story. Eg. In Fairy Tail I think Lucy is the protagonist not Natsu. |

| Not entirely sure as well, but along the series you can try to identify who has more screen time and is involved in more scenes/conflicts. If that's still hard, what I try to do is looking on the anime page here on MAL to see which character has more member favorites, there is a chance his is the MC, although this is probably not going to work with every anime. Sorry if that doesn't help |

| You can look up the character list on MAL. It tells you which ones are the main character. Usually the protagonist is the one with the most compiled screen time. You now have to deduce it yourself. |
| In the list of voice actors who appeared in the first episode and were cast in the ending, the character with the name at the top is usually the main character. |

| If you see someone wearing an incredibly impractical outfit that looks pretty edgy, thats usually your guy. However, be careful there are occasions where there are multiple stand users. In this situation you have to judge whose pulled the most OP ability out of absolutely nowhere and managed to defeat everyone. If this fails to work the only remaining solution available to you is to personally contact the creator of the source material and ask them directly who they intended the protagonist to be. |

| Any character who has the most screentime (in most cases) Otherwise, who cares? As long as story is good. Side characters will find a way. |
