| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- The pacing wasn't as much of a problem as the fact that the beginning of chapter 983 and 984 were adapted. 5 and 4 pages, respectively. Almost exclusively transition panels, mind you. Add more Brachio Tank vs Big mom anime OG stuff and you end up with an episode only a true average One Piece enjoyer could dig. Which I fortunately am. Still, the most stimulating parts were - Luffy and Yamato fooling around along with the massive tease(face and Ace) - Robin as strong independent woman. What was that boor even thinking? Lol. Franky got dibs on her, even tho it's admittedly looking bad for him since Boss Jinbe joined. - the focus on the V-line of the mantis Gifter - dog mouth Gifter The episode was legit 1/5 tbh but these 4 points were enough for a 5/5 |

| That Yamato and Ace clash at the end was pretty hype. I can't wait to see more of it That (and the luffy and Yamato part) was easily the highlight of the episode for me but Zoro being as great as ever was also a pretty nice part |

| Luffy and Yamato fooling around was the highlight of the episode. Well, there's not much to say. Zoro was a badass once again beating down a hundred man alone. Ussup and Chopper were close to losing their soul and Nami is in trouble.. I'm pretty curious at how old Yamato really is and her past with Ace... |

| This episode was fine. I do not mind the pacing at all. Though it is bothersome now and then. But I been up with One Piece this far for years. I will handle it. |

| I expected a mess, but damn that was bad even for Wano pacing standards. I dunno why they went ahead and spoiled that one scene that shouldn't have been revealed yet in the anime, but whatever. The pacing itself was the real problem, as well as the animation is some parts. Felt like an average episode rather than a big moment like it should've been. |
| This really was a slow episode. Poor Nami is going to be targeted by Big Mom next... Interesting to know that Yamato once fought Ace. |

| Definitely one of the slower episodes even if I don't mind as much as others do. It was surprising to see Perospero already at Onigashima. When he and the rest of the Big Mom went on another free fly by Marco I thought we wouldn't see anything of them for a longer period of time. Guess this will heat things up even more. The Brachio part wasn't too special but it could have ended up very badly for Usopp and Chopper if Prometheus didn't interrupt Big Mom. But now Nami, Carrot and Shinobu are on a run. Robin as cool as always and I really had to laugh when she mentioned the all-you-can-assassinate-buffet. Never heard anyone saying that before :D Zoro the new king of pirates or something like that right? I mean the gifters never met Luffy so they couldn't know it wasn't him but still also a funny scene. The part with Luffy and Yamato was definitely the most interesting one. We still don't exactly know why Yamato wants to talk to Luffy so badly, but his gender is 100% confirmed by the scene with Ace which was honestly unexpected. I didn't know Ace was also going for Kaidos head at some point and fought Yamato. Next week face and identity reveal? Can't wait to see Luffys face and reaction to it and of course I'm also very curious by myself to get more information about Yamato. |

| Well shit.. This is not how I thought this episode was going to be handled. This is such a major moment in the manga and for them to allude to Yamato knowing ace before the reveal is going to diminish the impact a bit for the next episode. Man this pacing is just terrible. I was almost certain that this episode was going to cover the ending cliffhanger of CH 984 but i guess there saving it for next episode. Why is it that the studio feels so compelled to introduce flashback sequences to hint or allude to things that oda has not even revealed in the present story. This is a case of anime studio's being far to liberal in terms of showcasing things based on promotional material and advertising. They should honestly stick to the manga, its structured and sequenced in the way that leaves the readers feeling the most impact from the story. Please do not let this be a "reverie situation all over again". |

| I only refrained from posting earlier, but...as a One Piece fan, I'd say this episode was a terrible letdown. This pacing is awful. Why does Toei have to reduce the amount of manga pages that they'll adapt for an entire episode? They just keep doing this. I wouldn't really complain about the pacing if they had been faithful to adapt a complete 1 chapter = 1 episode format, but the studio decides to break down a manga chapter and adapting 50% (or even less) of a manga chapter then animating it with too much padding. They're doing this more often now. This episode is the result and it's too hard to watch. Honestly, I was waiting for the reveal of at the end of this episode, but....Toei rearranged the events to their own liking. Please don't ruin our expectations, Toei... I don't want Wano Act 3 to be a disaster in the anime. Ugh.. -_- Btw, when was blood been censored in this anime by coloring blood as white? What gives? |

I don't mean to sound rude, but I think it's really obvious why they do it: 1) they've gotten too close to the source material and more importantly 2) the One Piece manga goes on break too often usually one or two weeks per month on average, so the anime would catch up to the manga even faster if the anime adapted one chapter per episode. Of course they could remedy the situation by making filler arcs to buy some time, but they don't do that because they're greedy and know that the ratings would decline if they resorted to too many fillers. Plus they know that the anime's most dedicated fans would rather watch canon episodes than fillers, even if the canon episodes are slow paced as ****. |

| The episode was average I guess, Zoro's fight was alright to see and the bit near the end with Ace was fun to see although I knew it was going to happen as soon as Luffy used the Red Hawk. Can't wait for next episode, then we can see Yamato's face. |

| Indeed the toughest battle for commander chopper and driver usopp but at the end of it a total victory considering they came out alive from a non-winnable battle against big mom. Quite unexpected to see an Ace flashback at the end, not that I want to complain. |

| 5 pages of chapter 983 and 4 pages of chapter 984. Wow that's some abysmal pacing. And then for some reason at the end of the episode, they felt the need to spoil the fact that when that was a pretty huge reveal in the manga. |

This is probably what's bound to happen when you have to buy time to make later episodes better, but then realize that you have to add some spice. Also, Toei always had the tendency to tease stuff(silhouttes of faces and chara designs), even when it was something that's about to be revealed, sometimes in the very same episode. There are harlmess examples like when Katakuri, Oven and Daifuku were teased before their actual introduction at the wedding. The last time they added something questionable to an eventless episode was when Zoro used Haoshoku. I personally thought that was worse than the stuff we got this time. Most anime watchers should already know about Yamato thanks to opening, seiyuu and the mini drama series(or other peoples MAL pictures) How Mr.3 being on the scaffold wasn't a surprise because of several anime original filler segments in previous episodes, that featured him taking the place of one of the executioner. Now that was wild 😂 Their previews are wack, not to mention some of their infamous episode title (episode 988) Yeah, we already went through some tough shit alongside Toei. | censsored episode with white blood... slow episode with not much important thing who take long time for nothing (usopp and chopper vs Big Mom... usseless to take so much screentime). Just the end who is interesting when Yamato reming her past with Ace |

| Great ep. though the pace was slow. In fact, it was so slow that you noticed it. Big Mom got some scary power. Like seriously controlling the souls of unliving and living things are a dangerous ability. For a short moment, I thought Chopper and Usopp was dreaming being in front of Big Mom about taking their lifespan away. Lucky enough for them, they got away. The fight between Luffy and Yamato was decent, but that Red Hawk animation had a nice touch, though the animation was quite decent. Nevertheless, you could see the difference between this attack and Usopp's tank shooting cannons at Big Mom. |
