This timeline that Subaru returned too sure is a grim one. Hmm to think there were that many of the clones though. Still while they fulfilled their role their effects was too brief. Suicide to deny Satella her victory huh what a way to go. If anything Echidna did not lack ambition in trying to create artificial humans. Still the insight into Ryuzu prime was pretty insightful. Emilia's outfit that she wore when in the forest sure was pretty. When combined with the moonlight she sure looked divine. Im curious at what Subaru actually said to Garf but at the same time im really impressed at how Subaru was able to overcome Garf's anger that easily as he stated his aims and priorities. Hmm looks like Beatrice already deduced that her new master will be Subaru. Overall an interesting ep that focused on expanding the lore of sanctuary and its people while also setting the stage for Subaru's fight with the witch of Envy. Im quite curious to see what will happen next as Beatrice's skills will bring a lot more options to Subaru's plans.

THE CHASE IS ON! Subaru's attempt with Garfiel to stop Satella from reaching Roswaal's mansion, and the non-stop "I love you" chants are just as creepy as the last episode.

The Witch of Envy Satella (which is a given that Emilia looks like her), really engulfing Subaru's memories and digging them through like a plague. Return by Death many times you want Subaru, but the consequences get even more painful each and everytime, and seemingly back to his best checkpoint.

Now that the plan's laid bare right infront of him, Subaru has NO second chance to redo the same death, so mitigation plans it is to stay ahead of the game while he still can (just like with Elsa). The depiction of the many Ryuzus (the old loli hag and her servants, ALL IMITATIONS of the enclosed vessel original) with Subaru about the witches of sin (including Satella), I'd think this will be a pretty good time to ponder her existence and relation to the things Subaru faced before Returning by Death.

The "lover"' issue, please enlighten me, because surely that's stuff in the LN that the anime missed out on.

EMT FTW, she truly is an angel in Subaru's life. Their sweet, sweet conversation was sorely missed after Season 1, and I need not say that it was a conversation of the same old "Confidence Man" talk to protect the one girl he admires and loves.

Our boy is ready to act his sortie, and it goes without saying to the chagrin of easy-to-read Garfiel: to save Sanctuary with all that he's got.

"I know Hell, I've seen it so many times.
I'm the only one who needs to know hell. THAT'S WHAT I'M HERE FOR." - Natsuki Subaru

Truly spoken like a confidence man ready to change the tides of fate with Beatrice.

Another amazing episode, and the hype lives on to the midway mark.

The entire "I love you"/"Love me" scene was pretty creepy. I doubt anyone would want to be put in that situation no matter how beautiful the witch may be.

Again, another well done episode, but I am still getting an irritated feeling of how the episodes just move back and forth between locations, the sanctuary and the mansion, and not much is added in-between. Even though people have told me that this arc is two cours, and not just one, I feel like that just adds to my point a couple of episodes ago: That it is being stretched out. Even more so to fit a two cour show. Even if the light novel was also this stretched out, the anime is able to take liberties to condense the story if they wanted to. Maybe it is just the weekly factor. When I saw the first season, it was in a binge, so maybe I didn't notice if the pace felt too slow. But this season, which I obviously am watching weekly, the plot progression, while there, feels too slow. It has been ten episodes but it feels like it could have all fit into five episodes.

Maybe after the show ends and I am able to binge it, then I can see if I have the same problem with the pacing as I did with watching it weekly.

I will say this though: This show is really good at building mysteries that viewers can be invested in.
Dude ngl when I read the Web Novel I felt that they rushed the anime but atleast they didn't left out some important parts in the story.

I have no idea how anything will end. There are so many things happening at the same time and no clear way out.

The only thing that might be possible to connect is Satella and the story of a failed doll creation from Echidna. Maybe Satella is a failed creation?

Okay help me understand what Ryuzu meant when she said that Subaru was meeting Garfiel's lover, when Subaru asked to hide the fact that he met Echidna and Ryuzu.

Pretty much she s joking about them both sneaking around behind Garfiel s back as if they were a couple hiding it from her family, so its pretty much just her messing with him like the body pillow comment.

Yeah I wasn't sure if she meant herself or Echidna as the lover LOL

Roswaal and Beatrice reactions in this and the last loop made it clear that these Book-of-Spoilers holders KNOWS EVERYTHING.

Nobody need to tell Roswaal what happened in White Whale fight, the Alliance of factions, who is Rem, Petelgeuse raid, because he knows enough.

And we see now that Beako can't be caught by surprise with the "question". She is in a new timeline, only 2 days later from the last conversation in "valid time", and she is already prepared for that.

I kinda wonder if they get annoyed when they see differences in the book than what they remember each time subaru pops into a new world or if the book records all of his trips

TLDR: Garfield is still doubting Subaru's intention cause he suspect Subaru as Greed's lackey. Then Subaru said: "I've been thru hell" just like he did to Wilhelm in season 1. Same scenario, same problem solving.

Freaking amazing episode as well. I'm so stoked to finally be able to talk to Beatrice at the end! But damn I had no clue what they were talking about.

What was last time about? Why did she expect him? And why is it ironic? I'm hoping it'll all make sense next episode. I loved the characterizations here a lot!

it was a pretty good episode but i have to wonder, if echidna's experiment failed, then how come new copies are being made? and just so i'm clear, she creates all of these bodies to inherit her soul into in case the body she's in gets destroyed?

It's more complicated and anime skipped that part.

Echidna created copies of Ryuzu to be her new vessel but it turned out the body was too small to hold Echidna's soul. After some time Echidna did manage to find a solution (data compression) but did not manage to finished the experiment before she was killed.

So, if she wasn't able to finish the experiment, does that mean the Ryuzu in the crystal is not Echidna? Is the crystal some source of mana, and she's just involuntarily reproducing bodies as a result?

I guess he deserves this rest..
Anime is trying its best to not to skip any imp part and is trying to condense which is rare considering most anime just straight up remove Monologues..
But we hope we get to see the OP or ED one more time.. cuz boi..

AND, sorry to bombard you with questions, but what exactly was that encounter with Gar and Subaru about? What is he trying to test him on, and whatnot? Is there some subtle thing that I might have missed?

And what made Subaru eager to head to the mansion now of all times?

It’s weird to me how he’s the only character shape shifting. I wonder if his design/proportions is hard to nail down between different animators. All of the other characters look the same.

And the fact that we’re reaching the climax of the mid way point of this arc. I’m a little worried about the upcoming episodes (art wise). There are some really important scenes. The story is going to be great no doubt about that, but I don’t want wonky faces to ruin important scenes.

Totally agree the art got a little wonky the last few scenes. And subaru is always looking different design wise which is kinda frustrating because everything else is great.

Yoo that was pretty good episode, although I felt that it left me with more questions than answers lol.

That handkerchief really came in 'handy' there 😏😏

So we now know that Ryuzu is just one copy out of many of the original Ryuzu Meyer, and that both Subaru and Garfeil are an Apostle of Greed. I'm sure Subaru will have some questions for Echidna when they meet text time.

So hyped for the next episode, I'm hopping that everything with Beatrice will be explained cause I really need to know!

Also the ED is a straight banger.

No one really knows, even LN readers. There are some theories but they can't be said without any spoilers.

Subaru had three questions for Garfiel:
1. Why didn't he say anything about Witch's scent the day before.
2. How did he find him (this was a bluff because Subaru knew Ryuzu copies told him).
3. About a girl that look just like Ryuzu

All those question were a test by Subaru to see what will get Garfiel angry. He was ready to be killed by Garfiel just to learn that.

Dorkave said:

He had two reasons to go there now:
1. He decided to leave the trail to Emilia
2. He thought he knew quite a lot about Sanctuary and what was going to happen there, but almost nothing about Elsa's attack on the Mansion.

Oh boy, talk about doppelgangers! It makes you wonder if there might be a relation between the witch and half elf. The fact Subaru has been resetting to the same point all series as well is a masterstroke in story telling as he is bit by bit uncovering more and more of the world.

Really liked the Roswaal scene as well when Envy was consuming everything and he grabbed that book and said what he did. That really tickled my fancy on his understanding of what is happeningl.

Awesome. not much else can be said about this show.

I feel like I know what's going on but I''m still confused. Hope we can get some mysteries revealed soon. I'm guessing betty is going to end a contract with the old mage guy and and start one with Subaru now and she will help fight the guts loving serial killer. Everyone will be safe this time since he sent them to hide while he fights with Betty. I still don't understand why Garfiel is helping Subaru when his goal is to help Emilia and that will result in the barrier for Sanctuary being taken down. He wants to protect Sanctuary so I don't see how he would not oppose this.

there is gonna be a lot of events all happening in the same time so it's gonna take up a lot of episodes to show everything that is happening and that's why arc 4 is so long

I don't think money is the problem here actually. Some time ago there was announced that after episode 4 (episode 5 including) all the animators were working from home because of the pandemic. They were doing very good until now (even this episode) and that scene i don't think is was THAT "bad" but actually more like annoying because distracted us from the flow of the conversation. Hope they won't rush it like that and take a brake if is necessary even if it hurts at least the production won't be affected.

I'm starting to notice that in each arc, the threat Subaru faces seems to grow bigger and bigger, making it harder to deal with. Even though Subaru has unlimited tries, he's weak as shit physically. The only thing he can actually do aside from retrying is acquiring knowledge.

That said, I don't feel too much happened this episode: just a lot of exposition, which was handled in a pretty generic fashion, of just characters talking, rather than showing through visuals. While I still don't quite like Subaru as a character overall due to how obnoxious he was in season 1, I do think it's interesting that after his development in season 1, he's still flawed in that he has a very low self-esteem of himself. The sequence of Subaru being wrapped in shadow was supposed to be uncomfortable and kind of intimidating, but it was so confusing to me was to what was happening, that I didn't feel much of anything.

So I don't completely understand exactly what Subaru is trying to do by going to them mansion alone; to my understanding, it's a suicide mission, he knows he's going to be killed by Elsa, but that's his goal; to figure out what she's trying to do, so he can handle her in the next loop.

I found it pretty funny when he basically told Satella that she's so romantically unattractive to him that he preferred the other witches over her. Also, the last scene where he told Garfiel how he knows Hell, I dunno, something about that felt badass.

The ending part with Beako also confused me a bit when she was talking and subaru saying that he’s there for something different than last time. Does beatrice remember or is it just in the “Gospel.” I might rewatch the episode, maybe i just missed something because i was watching it during school hours.

"I know Hell." The best way to describe Subaru.

This was a good episode, but yet not really much to talk about lol. I love when Subaru is in his bad-ass form. The level of resolve he has after letting out some tears and struggles he is going through shows his growth as a human. Not to many anime know how to pull that off. The only I know who does it to perfection is monogatari-series.

We finally get to see Satella, but in honestly is wasn't that good of a reveal. In all honesty I was just confused. I mean she looks like Emilia (well duh), but it didn't have the same impact that the other Witches had. However, I did like how she got mad when Subaru said he rather love Echidna than her. Playing into her sin was a nice touch. I'm unsure if she was crying because Subaru killed himself or because she really hurt or something. Really weird reveal.

The clone thing was okay. Kind of already figured that out. Garfiel possible doing the trail and meeting Echidna is a nice plot I would like to be explored more. Subaru seems to have made it a day or two before Elsa which is game changing. And last, the conversation with Beatrice is going to be interesting. I think the gospel lets her know about Subaru's RbD. Maybe lets her see the future? Idk, but either way I'm hyped.

Really nice episode, Subaru has really grown this season, he's looking a lot smarter, calmer and experienced now, probably beacuse of all the shit he's gone through. That conversation with Garfiel was just amazing. "I know hell, I've seen it so many times." that is probably one of the best lines I've read this season.
This episode was basically a set up for the next few ones this season, there wasn't really a lot going on.
By the way, I'm really excited for the next episode!

How much blablabla can an episode fit!?
The fact that Subaru has died so many times and still be scared of such small things is flawed since its natural to get numb over time. The fact that Subaru keeps reacting sad before he has seen if his starting point has been moved is flawed. Undeserved scoring and hype, albeit the underlying story is still worth something, the overlayed flood of random small-talk and unnatural emotions is frustrating since you can't empathize continuously.

I have a horrible feeling that Emilia 𝘪𝘴 Satella; they look and sound eerily alike, Satella is obsessively in love with Subaru though she hasn't ever technically met him and Subaru was instinctively wary of Emilia when he Returned By Death. I found it strange that he said he wanted to 'save her' too... like he knows who she is.

It looked more like Satella took over Emilia's body which could be because Satella is inside her which means Satella = Emilia is true. Of course in this instance Satella = Emilia regardless imo.

What was suggested in season 1, got kinda confirmed today, but ofcourse there's a lot more to it that Emilia and Satella look alike.

Pretty chill episode, but was highly needed after all these cruel events Subaru had to go through. Pretty much an info-dump a little bit. Was nice knowing what the story is behind Ryuzu and why there are so many of her.

Emilia in that moonlight was amazing, simply gorgeous!!

The final interactions between Subaru and Garfiel were great, was surprising to see Garfiel back-off after Subaru said that "He knows hell"..

Now the battle at the mansion will soon happen again and the final interaction of the episode was the most interesting one.. I can't wait to see more of Beatrice in the following episodes!!

I don't thing getting numb with literally death is something realistic because yes he knows that if he dies he will come back but he is more scared of the way he will die not the actual act of death (at least the last 2 deaths were so abusive). The rabbit scene was so gruesome (imagine being eaten from the inside by those sh*ts) and the Satella death was literally her abusing his soul...the basic deaths became not so much of a deal for him but recently he only had f**ked ones like these two who were literally mental scarring deaths.

Ushiromiya Battler, right now, on this island, no one exists except for you. You're the only one alive in this island. However I'm here right now, and i'm about to kill you. Who... am I?

The ending part with Beako also confused me a bit when she was talking and subaru saying that he’s there for something different than last time. Does beatrice remember or is it just in the “Gospel.”
The last time they've met was in episode 2, when Subaru was questioning her about Roswaal.

When Garf said Subaru doesn't know suffering reminded me of the Subaru Kazuma conversation in Isekai Quartet rofl.
