lucky star, the first episode made me tune out right away. a lot of people said it's intentional so I might try it again some day.
claymore. the retard guy gets saved then has the audacity to scream nonstop about how killing demons that killed his family and were about to eat him is bad. beyond annoying.
nichijou. one of the most unfunny comedy ever made. it's more moe-sol than comedy.
violet evergarden. this show has mastered the nothing happens and even that feels repetative formula. I can't deal with violet's personality, how every episode was the exact same thing, and the photoshop effects made the otherwise visually impressive show awful to look at.
tokyo ghoul, the mc is absolute garbage. who the hell needs a full series and a week of torture just to understand that it's ok to want to live?
lwa series: akko is an unbearable joke character, and gets away with everything every time. the art and animation deteriorates over time. how did we get here from one of the most impressive ovas ever made?
beatless. it's a super straightforward story with awful pushover characters, horrid animation, and a lot of technobabble to fill the 20 episode void it would be without it.
Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken. "haha wouldn't it be funny if everythring I wanted and needed fell into my hands right away? oh wow it happened who could've guessed" when a show jokes about how it takes 0 effort for the mc to get his way it's beyond irredeemable. don't forget the "I better not piss off anyone in this city, btw I killed your mentor and first love, she was a monster." type of nonsense.
it was either incredibly stupid, or boring as shit. never inbetween.
Black★Rock Shooter. this show has a cult following to this day but I think I was very late to the party. it just didn't excite me and found it pretentious and shallow. I feel if I watched this a decade ago, I would've loved it.
MHA. I don't like deku's character, or how he's used in the show. the rest of the characters are fine but the arcs are incredibly repetative. school arc, tournament arc, villains attack arc, repeat. even if deku didn't annoy me, the structure would be a huge turnoff.

Re zero: I really liked the idea but after seeing the mc dying so many times it was not that shocking anymore. Overall I liked the first season, but the second not that much
Haikyuu: Really overrated in my opinion, the last season is ridiculous. Permanent flashbacks to justify plays.
Cowboy bebop: I'm not a fan of episodic animes but I finished it anyway. I would have liked to watch a non episodic version to compare, but that would limit the "universe" that it is shown in the series

Kimetsu no Yaiba - The way people freaked out over this I expected way more. Apart from the art/animation there was nothing that was particularly outstanding about it. Flat one-note characters and basically no plot.

TTGL - it was not bad at all but I expected to be more emotionally invested. However I watched it years ago so I might enjoy it more now. And for the first half I felt like giving Youko a shirt or something

Madoka Magic a - the shock value thing in series just doesn't do it for me most of the time even though I was pretty young back then. I was annoyed at the two main girls and but I forgot why...

Finally after almost a year, forced to watch it with my friend.

Expected more,
Ended up disappointed after finishing it.

Legend of the Galactic Heroes.

I don’t think that show is the “pinnacle” of all anime shows, and I appreciate the politics within it, which makes it boring to the fact that the politics within humanity is overvalued than their personal guts. It’s kinda boring when most characters tend to be BS with corrupted “aristocrats or politicians” by forcing them to be planted the poison inside them, and to me, it’s hilariously facetious. Tending that show to be “logical”.

I still accept the concept about the humanity’s enemy is humanity itself, but sorting some “bad” examples to be “good” practices of resolve is absurd.

Thus, this show considered to be the “best” representation of Ad Hominem behavior.

Oregairu and Natsume Yuujinchou. I couldn't even finish them. Oregairu I tried to watch twice but couldn't get past episode 4 every time, I did not like the characters enough to continue and see what's so special about it. Natsume Yuujinchou I dropped on episode 6, I guess iyashikei was just not for me.

Eh, here are a few of the most popular animes I don't care for.

Code; Geass - on hold, I dislike pretty much all of the characters
FMA:B, - on hold, it's been pretty tough to get through...
Madoka Magica - on hold, seems like the only thing it's got going for it is the "surprise" factor?
Koe no Katachi - idk man, maybe I'm just heartless or something.

The ones on hold are subject to change, of course. (my hopes aren't high, unfortunately)

It's weird considering I like the vast majority of whatever I see, but I found "Hotarubi no Mori e" surprisingly bland and boring, even if it's a 45 min long movie (also 8.42 score here on this website).

Toradora. The romance was boring and sloppy. Some character development was interesting but other than that, DEFINITELY not worth the hype.

Nichijou is the most unfunny thing I've ever seen. I genuinely do not understand people who find that show funny.

(Apologies for the length lol)

Rising of the Shield hero
-I did not like a single character in that show, just everyone pissed me off. I can understand how many people would like the direction the story is going, but personally wished it went in a different direction. Maybe have the 4 heroes actually get along and decide to fight against Melromarc? Cause it seems like those in rule (Only Malty and the king really) do not deserve to be there. It just seemed to me that nearly every character that wasn't on Naofumi's side was made to be stupid, annoying, or evil as to make him look better. It just got on my nerves that this was the way the show went when I was hoping for something else I guess.

My hero academia
-It's not terrible, the first two season were probably the better ones imo, but I've kinda grown out of most battle shounen now. Especially ones like MHA that have very black and white morality. Everything just seems way to shallow for a "superhero" story. With every character of importance having the same morality and the "I wanna help people because it's the right thing to do!" kind of mindset. Nothing wrong with it of course, but if every important character wants to be a hero and has the same sense of justice? It gets a little stale to me. I'd like some diversity in morals, goals and character's opinions on justice and heroes. Have character's differing opinions clash y'know. Maybe also make some some bad heroes? So Stain doesn't sound like an idiot who acts for nothing?

Katekyo Hitman Reborn
-I feel like this might be because of the author's choice to turn it from a comedy SoL to a battle shounen but I feel as though it's too light-hearted for a show trying to play into the "darkness of the mafia". Every character and their personalities rely on long-running gags for comedy. Like Bianchi, she's known for "poison cooking" and is a freelance hitman/assassin but instead of stealthy poisoning (i.e slipping arsenic into her target's food/drink) she turns everything she touches into "poison cooking", which is just purple looking food with worms and maggots...aka stereotypical bad anime food, and hurls it into her target's face. It was just disappointing imo

The most highly rated anime I've watched so far is definitely Quanzhi Gaoshou. I just cannot understand how it's rated above 8 with this level of awfulness. I mean, there isn't even a single aspect I can say that it deserves its rating, not even slightly.

For me, I just couldn’t get in Serial Experiments Lain or the Akira movie. They just didn’t do anything for me.

I also watched the first season of Overlord and wasn’t that into it, but I still thought it was decent.

Hotaru no Haka and Nichijou. For Hotaru no Haka, it’s an amazing movie. I know that much, but if my enjoyment level was 0/10, I have to lower it down a lot, despite is being a good movie. It made me finish the whole thing for me expecting it get more exciting. For those who enjoyed it, good.

For Nichijou, I just didn’t find a single thing funny. The character designs are bogus. For those who enjoyed it, have fun laughing your sanity out.

Madoka Magica- boring. didn't get how people thought it was just so mind blowing. The plot twist barely even fazed me.

Gurren Lagann- boring. cringey. annoying characters. Also don't get why people like Kamina so much, his speeches were pretty random and was just like he was talking nonsense.

Grand Blue- only laughed like one or two times. overall boring.

Clannad Afterstory- don't see how this was so emotionally impactful for so many people.

I guess the most notable for me would be Code Geass. The show has its fair share of haters, but I know several who liked the show as well, and it's highly rated on MAL. For me, I rated it a 7 relative to other anime that I've watched; while the premise seemed interesting, and the show showed promise throughout the first 4-12 episodes, I gradually lost interest in the show, but still managed to force myself to finish both seasons just to say "Hey, I've watched it". The biggest complaint for me with the show is the number of Deus Ex Machinas it pulls off, with one notable sequence being the main protagonist appearing to have been "discovered", only for some inexplicable event that relinquishes all tension and solves the entire problem. Some of the characters were infuriating, particularly one introduced in Season 2, and add to that some subplots that were solved in a inexplicable manner, and I found myself finding it difficult to enjoy the show, even though I wanted to. Honestly, I could've rated it lower than a 7, but I think it's solid from a technical aspect in terms of animation and sound (can't expect less from Sunrise), which were its only saving graces to me.

Katanagatari has a neat premise, but as the show waxes philosophical it melts into a nonsensical mess. It's the kind of story that looks fine at a glance but the more you look at it the more its flaws stand out

Shinsekai yori wasn't that pleasant to watch actually. The camerawork, the music, the story; everything is perfect. But the pacing is just awful in the first half and it was getting really boring. Also the change of animation style kind of threw me of.

Hunter x Hunter 2011: it was decent or even less then a decent. most of it was boring ecpecially the cimera ants arc becasue all of it was full with unnecessary fights with no plot at all. i also cuoldn't feel the characters, all the characters were superficiality. my friends told me to keep watching this anime and it will get better but it hasn't got better at all. a waste of time. i cant understand why people love this anime so much it is really not that goof. Yuu Yuu Hakusho is of the same creator of hunter x hunter and it's better in every way.

Mob Psycho 100: it was bad, like very bad. half of it was filler. mob has no character developmennt and it feels that the other characters like reigen and his brother has more character development then him. mob is boring, he was overpowered from the begining of the anime ane in the end he remain exactly like he was in the begining. I really cant understand why people like that anime, I literally fell asleep in most of the episodes

???

Did we even watch the same show?

Not trying to trash you,but Mob does get a lot of character development especially by Season 2,he went from someone who had trouble with his emotions to slowly showing them and accepting them.(From what I remember at least, sorry if this is inaccurate.)

in the end of season 2 he still had trouble with his emotions and in general mob is childish and boring, he ins't suitable to be a main character.

Yeah lmao probably the most boring anime I've ever watched is Ping Pong. Also people really liked Kaguya-sama but I think it's mediocre at best. Overblown ratings. Same thing with Demon Slayer because apparently animation budget and ratings are directly proportional.

Seriously, I don't understand the greatness of Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei (The Tatami Galaxy) and Shinsekai Yori. What I saw were leftover pieces of work after having the art quality being sacrificed.

I also didn't enjoy Howl's Moving Castle and My Neighbor Totoro despite loving Spirited Away. I find Howl's Moving Castle a mess and My Neighbor Totoro very boring.

I Want to Eat Your Pancreas:
Literally a copy of Your Lie in April, but without the music aspect to keep me interested. Ended up just being one of the most cliche, bland, and generally uninteresting movies I've watched in a while. The visuals were nice tho.

Girl Who Leapt Through Time:
I never understood the interest shown towards this film. Clearly it was an experiment made by Mamoru Hosoda to enhance is future directing skills, which in turn created one of the most disjointed and generic films I've watched. Characters were dull, the story was boring with one of the worst last thirds I've seen in a long time, and other than a few artistic designs behind time traveling, nothing in the art stood out. Maybe I'm missing something here, I don't know.

Kyoukai no Kanata:
Kyoukai no Kanata is KyoAni's attempt at creating a show with darker themes. However, the show clearly shows the reasoning behind why the studio sticks to more lighter themed works. Most of this show felt incredibly awkward for me, especially with how much they attempted to turn getting hurt into comedic or tragic events at the blink of an eye. Other than some slice of life moments KyoAni is known for, the entire show was a mess, and a disappointing mess at that. The movies didn't do much better.

Ninja Scrolls:
I felt this was just one of those shows that weren't made for me. The action sequences were mostly interesting, but outside of that, most of the characters were one dimensional, with endless amounts of dark thematics that really end up contributing very less to the show.

Vampire Hunter D (2000):
Same idea as Ninja Scrolls.

I have a bunch more, but continuing like this will take forever, so here are a few I jotted down:
- MHA Season 4 + the two movies
- Clannad (the first season only)
- Garden of Words
- Whole bunch of Ghibli Films (Ponyo, Arriety, etc.)
- Doukyuusei

My Hero Academia, the fanbase ruined it for me by overhyping it as the best anime to come out of all time. I did like MHA, the animation is one of the best I've seen. The story was mid, I didn't think much of it. I was originally planning to give it an 8/10 but after the actions the fanbase made, I had very high expectations and was left disappointed in the end and gave it a 7 just for the great animation. The same happened with AoT but AoT delivered on its promise. The basement reveal left me mindblown cause after watching it, everything made sense, the 3 seasons worth of build up was worth it but for me, MHA let me down but if you like MHA, i don't care. Good for you. It just wasn't for me
