i love this series i follow them and they're awesome, and sad when the culprit confess their crimes and despite their evil deeds they had a hard and tragic life, the victims destroyed their lifes even though what they have done was unexcusable i understand their feelings and even though they have to go to jail i give to them the power of forgiveness because forgiveness is the best answer no matter how serious the wrong. |

While watching a lot of Lupin III specials lately I stumbled upon some conclusions. Yes, Kaitou Kid is inspired by Lupin (masks, dummies, magic tricks, ect) and also I understand why so many people here are interested in watching the Detective Conan movies without completing the TV series. Basically some of the Lupin III specials and movies (most of them anime originals with only few loosely based on the manga) are really really good. They even can overshadow some of the Lupin III TV series. This may be true about other franchises (I don't know, One Piece?). But in my opinion the DC movies, even with better animation and all, are really sub par to the stories from those TV series based on the manga...well except Lupin III vs. Detective Conan special and Lupin III vs. Detective Conan: The Movie which are great. So for me the best alternative to speed-watch Conan is just to skip the AO episodes. There is no way around it. It's not like Lupin III where you can miss some details from the mythology. (Basically you only must know the main characters - Lupin, Jigen, Goemon, Fujiko and Zenigata.) DC is similar to One Piece - little pieces from the puzzle scattered all over the place. Yes, you can watch the movies for the spectacle (maybe, I never watched a OP movie), but those are not the strongest points of the title. |

Detective Conan is like Sherlock Holmes and Hercules Poirot because not only they solve murder cases and catch the perpetrators of the crimes they solve also because the main antagonists of the series are worse than the criminals they catch such as Jim Moriarty, Stephen Norton and the Black Organization. |

I just got season 1 of Detective Conan (American release) and all the gushes of blood were covered in a white light source of some sort. Bloodstains around corpses were in full color, though, even in the quite gruesome museum episode with the big guy nailed to the wall with a sword. Was this present in the original airing / Japanese DVDs as well, or was the American release censored? (And how the heck is this aimed at all ages!? This would never pass as family friendly outside of Japan xD) |

What i liked about detective conan is about great cases or mystery contents that they came out with and is one of the best detective anime series ever. However, I dont like how the MC always has to hide behind somewhere and mimic others' voice which the credits of solving the case is given to others instead. It is understandable that the MC did that to avoid attention especially from the Black Organisation and less people will actually believe in what a kid is talking about. Furthermore, he is still nowhere in solving the case about the black organisation despite having more than 800 episodes. |

I know everyone has their own threshold for the amount of episodes they deem important but I while back I made a list of episodes (and have updated it since) of the episodes I think are important. What is deemed an essential episode to someone else could be unimportant according to you . For example you didn't include episodes 144 and 145, which is a very enjoyable case, making it essential to watch imo, yet you obviously don't think that way. Same for others, what is deemed an essential episode is a subjective matter and not just means plot related episodes. Besides, you didn't give any details why you think these are essential or name of the episodes, making it a chore to check what those numbers relate to which episodes. It’s not perfect, it’s impossible to have a perfect list, but for many people who wouldn’t want to start a nearly 900 episode episodic series it has pretty much all you need to get up to speed. I used the anime list on the wiki as a guide so you can cross reference it with that and see how useful it is. http://www.detectiveconanworld.com/wiki/Anime I’m not saying you have to agree with my choices it’s just so that if someone doesn’t want to watch 900 episodes but they want to get up to speed with the story they can watch this. |

All of the OVAs minus "OVA 11: A Secret Order from London" are pretty good. All Magic Files except "File 2:Kudou Shinichi - The Case of the Mysterious Wall and the Black Lab" are good. Definitely watch both the Lupin x Conan collabs! "The Disappearance of Conan Edogawa: The Worst Two Days in History" is an interesting one too. |

But yeah the length and kind of the spin-offs and growth of the franchise of it all is overwhelming. I've heard Aoyama wants to end it but even then it's still will go on for god knows how long in animated form. SOME OF US would like a proper ending. As someone who found out about it when they were 11 and is 23 and am by far not an older fan, I think people deserve it. Not only that but when you think of how DC is more of a murder mystery series and not really all that much an all around mystery adventure, it's kind of taxing on how grounded it all is, even with how much time has passed since Shinichi has transformed into a kid. He could've been an adult 10x over by now. |

I think you should keep a note of what episodes you've seen so that you can slowly digest it all because detective conan is good. The keys to story plot is far in between, enough to make your memory about it blurry so you can re-watch it by referring to wiki. |

Detective Conan is a good series. If you want you can watch full day or 5-6 episodes per day it because the anime not addictive but I am sure you will enjoy. Also generally this anime is a one man show and there is not exist annoying characters. If you love mystery and detective things you should start, someday you cant recognize how to reach timely episodes.By the way I finished about %30 of the series at one month and I think it will finish before summer. |
