The story of a lonely seabird named Nigel who tried to woo a mate that had a heart of stone and died on an uninhabited island off New Zealand has captivated many on social media.

Footage of the bird preening and cooing as he fruitlessly courted a decoy made of concrete has been watched obsessively online. Though his chosen partner kept a cold silence, Nigel, a gannet, won the affection of visitors and conservationists alike.

[...]

“Within 10 days of that,” Mr. Bell said, “there were three more gannets” on the island.

The conservationists were elated but cautious, hoping they would stay. But Nigel? He avoided the birds, refusing to leave his concrete mate.

Then one day, Mr. Bell found him dead.

So how do you see his "blind Loyalty", akin to the "Nibelungentreue"?

Is the Loyalty/Faithfulness the Problem or the Fact, that they used Fake-Birds to gather more real Birds and didn't try to break his Love for good? Would you have attempted to break the Stone-Waifu so that the Bird could have tried to woo a real Bird to copulate and to beget Children with?

What if Humanity was on the Verge of Extinction and you were in Love with your Waifu? Would you still refuse to copulate with a possible human Candidate? Also, would your Answer to the last Question change if you were in Love with a real Girl/Female, but you couldn't get any Children at all?

Has it sth. to do with what you mentioned in the other Thread or is there something more to it?

Even if your Love or Relationship in General will stay as fruitlessly as that?

no
Because you don't care about the Bird at all or because you care so much about him that you can't sacrifice his Love at all?

I think there was a Thread about it here on CE
Found it! https://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=1610900

Not sure whether the News Update was already mentioned in a new Thread, but it's both a tragic and a fascinating Story at the same Time. Makes me wonder whether or not there is a biological Component to staying loyal/faithful and whether it is a Characteristic, that is more hereditary or more dependent on the Environment one has grown up.

It's a plain normal English Name:

If you want a more realistic Example, then you should wonder about how many Chicks went hot for the Weathercock. ;)

It makes me wonder whether it is something that is special with Birds that they really stay that loyal/faithful to their Partners or whether it's something that only some Birds keep, just like some Humans stay loyal/faithful to one single Love Partner for their whole Lives.

This is pretty sad honestly...

One sided loves are the most gut-wrenching loves out there, I can personally relate to this bird.

If anything this is one of the greatest love stories out there.

RIP.
