Do you realize that Kakegurui only sold 391 copies?, it's in top 10 because is a very slow week.

A pretty low sales week I guess. Then again, not so much new release. Seeing houseki still hangin there makes me want to watch it.

Top 10, yes, but Kakegurui sales is bad, only sold 391. I wonder why they make season 2. Manga sales boost? Mobage advertisement?

The sale number of very last item on the ranking. It can also mean listing of the ranking has been "cut off" to this point.

Because the system of a production committee allows for multiple income sources and their importance depends on how high ranked a company interested in a certain part of the brand is. In this case the company aiming for BD/DVD sales simply didn't rank as high so these low numbers do barely hurt and do not stop the committee from greenlighting another season.

Yeah I know? But what I'm saying it shouldn't be bought by anyone because it's garbage.

Sorry I think that is extremely unlikely as it was nowhere near as popular as Kakegurui.

The majority of new releases are typically during the penultimate and/or final weeks of a month. Just for your information, there are around 55 anime-related releases during the week of January 22~28.

The cut-off number is meant to signify how many sales are required to be ranked within the relevant ranking list. The number of sales required to rank on these lists obviously varies from week to week.

During Tuesday evenings in Japan, Oricon releases a ton of ranking lists:

● Singles Top 100 (Top 200 on Wednesdays)
● Albums Top 100 (Top 300 on Wednesdays)
● Music DVD/BD Top 20
● Music BD Top 10
● Music DVD Top 30
● Digital Singles Top 30
● Digital Albums Top 30
● BD Top 30 (Top 100 on Thursday night/Friday morning)
● DVD Top 50 (Top 100 on Thursday night/Friday morning)
● Anime BD Top 20
● Anime DVD Top 30
● etc (Movies, Drama, Idols, etc)

For you information, it is likely that there are more than 20 Anime-related titles within the BD Top 30 during busy weeks, so the cut-off would have to be taken from the BD Top 30 list as the Anime BD Top 20 cut-off would be higher. During slow weeks, it would be the opposite of course.

It is a decently popular manga with Anime, TV series adaptation.

The main series selling around 200k-250k copies per volume which is not too impressive compared with mainstream WSJ manga still more well known than 90% of late-night anime or their source material anyway
